January 30, 2001 - Howard Stern was commenting on the Super Bowl halftime show today saying that he thought Britney Spears looked kind of chubby. Huh?

January 30, 2001 - A photographer from a Florida newspaper emailed into the Rush & Molloy show on eyada.com today to tell Joanna that as he walked by Justin and Britney Sunday at the Super Bowl, he could smell 'mary-jane' and that their eyes matched the part.

January 29, 2001 - *NSYNC, Aerosmith, Britney, Nelly, and Mary J.. Blige performed at the halftime of Super Bowl XXXV (and it wasn't lip synched!).

January 28, 2001 - The News of the World reports Reg Jones and Britney Spears will meet again at Britney's brother Ryan's wedding in May. She’ll be a bridesmaid and he’ll be an usher as friends say "Reg and Bryan are old pals." Apparently Reg was so devastated by being dumped by Britney 3 years ago, he joined the navy.

January 28, 2001 - Britney in Hawaii has been nominated as Music Special of the Year in the 3rd Annual TV Guide Awards. The event will be held March 7, 2001 on FOX.

January 28, 2001 - Britney Spears has been nominated as Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Female Artist - Pop (Internet Only), and Favorite CD (Oops.. I Did it Again) in the Seventh Annual Blockbuster Awards. The show will air April 11th on FOX.

January 28, 2001 - E! Online has a story on the entire Britney Spears swearing incident in Rio, where they speculate "Some, however, suggest that fans are rushing to hear Britney's flip-out not because of the cursing, but because it shows the navel-baring idol doing something few boy bands or teen starlets do in public these days: Acting normal without posturing, or without interference from paranoid handlers." January 28, 2001 - Britney Spears is shown here in a white outfit in an autographed photo auction currently on ebay. The photo, item #549429914, is unbid at $24.99 and ends February 2nd.

January 27, 2001 - Christina's mother shot down reports that her daughter and Britney Spears would be taking part in an MTV show called Not That Innocent. Said Shelly Kearns, "No, it's not true. I just asked Christina about it about 15 minutes ago, and she didn't know what the heck I was talking about!  So no...it's not true. Just a silly rumor."

January 26, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake have RSVP'd to Derek Jeter's invitation-only party Friday at the Rain Lounge in Tampa.

January 26, 2001 - Eyada's Rush & Molloy said today an AOL rep confirmed that Britney did swear in the clip that's been heard on the net. Apparently the audio was streamed to the audience and DirectTV during the live feeds, but will get edited out for future airings.

January 26, 2001 - Britney Spears has been nominated for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Song (Oops! ... I Did It Again) in the Kids' Choice Awards. Rosie O'Donnell will host the awards show on April 21 on Nickelodeon.

January 25, 2001 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports the opinions of Lisa Nicole Carson (Ally McBeal) and Sting on whether Britney or Christina is the better singer. Said Carson matter-of-factly "Christina", and Sting, "Well, that's really unfair--if I vote for one, then the other will be upset that I didn't vote for her. I would hate to be part of that survey."

January 25, 2001 - The Salt Lake Tribune reports Britney Spears and *NSYNC played an acoustic set at a private party in Deer Valley Saturday night. Later, Justin and Britney were spotted strolling Main Street.

January 25, 2001 - Apparently Britney Spears is a goth freak, according to this week's Star. They report Spears has spent over $100,000 on leather clothing and silver jewelry at Chrome Hearts in LA. Britney even offered to model in their ads, but she didn't quite fit their image so they politely declined.

January 25, 2001 - Thanks to our tip, the New York Daily News reported on the Britney cursing in Rio incident. While trying to contact her spokesman, they were unsuccessful in getting a return phone call to explain the incident.

January 25, 2001 - Apparently Britney Spears indeed has been added as a late addition to this year's Super Bowl half-time show, which is being produced by MTV, according to Dotmusic.

January 25, 2001 - Dotmusic reports Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera will be on a live TV debate on MTV February 9th. The two will face questioning about their dancing routines and their sexuality in a show entitled, 'Not That Innocent'.

January 24, 2001 - Apparently neighbors of Britney Spears in New York are upset that her brother will be the main tenant in their building. They'd hoped her living there would increase their property values, reports Peoplenews.com.

January 23, 2001 - The New York Post reports the Union Square apartment Britney bought is for her brother, and she'll have a small bedroom in the place when she's in town. She plans on living in her new mansion in Beverly Hills.

January 23, 2001 - The Sun reports comments from those at the Rock in Rio show and the controversy involving the American flag. An onlooker told the Sun, "The atmosphere became quite hostile when the flag appeared. It put a dampener on her performance."

January 22, 2001 - News of the World reports that Britney and Justin spent three nights in the honeymoon suite of the Intercontinental Rio hotel they were staying at. Rav reports the two spent nearly all of their time in Rio in the $800/night room ordering fried chicken, chips and cans of cola. A Britney spokesman told the tabloid, "It was ideal for both Britney and Justin because they find it much easier to relax when in each other’s company."

Janaury 22, 2001 - Worldpop reports Britney used playback tapes throughout her performance in Rio.

January 21, 2001 - TheRumour.com is reporting Britney Spears gushing about boyfriend Justin Timberlake, where she admits, "When I went to high school and had boyfriends who weren't even that serious they were the ones who ended up breaking my heart. "We'd have our first kiss and that would be great and then the next day and guy would totally ignore me. That's what's so refreshing about Justin. I'm in love and we're an item." Read more.

January 21, 2001 - Britney Spears was shown performing at Rock in Rio Thursday. Rick in our message boards tells us that Britney was booed while singing Lucky. Why? Because the American flag came down at the end of the song, causing the booing and chants of "Brazil!"

January 21, 2001 - Music3w.com reports comments from Britney in Rio where she reveals her duet with Madonna "will definitely happen". Spears adds, "We are not sure how we will do it, because I don't know when I or she will have free studio time to coincide, but her people and my people are talking and that will definitely happen."

January 21, 2001 - In an interview with Metal-Sludge.com, Warrant's Jani Lane rated Britney Spears on a scale of 1 to 10 saying, "Kill me... 9! In 2 years she'll be a 10!"

January 20, 2001 - Britney was caught with her mic on backstage before her Rock in Rio performance and the clip of her cussing is currently on Napster. Just search for "Britney Spears Rio". Britney says in the piece, "Don't tell me they're like letting the audience, just f***ing stand out there like that! Oh my god, okay.... okay let's hurry ya'll, seriously. This is retarded, they told me they were going to do a vamp!... thank you baby. Oh sh**! Oh no! What are they doing?"

January 20, 2001 - The Sun reports Guns N' Roses and the Foo Fighters were left sleepless in Rio after Britney checked into the same hotel they were staying in. Problem was, a bunch of teen fans chanted her name outside the hotel all night.

January 20, 2001 - E! Online's Marilyn Beck when asked which current female teen singer will have a long-lasting career replied, "The consensus of opinion among critics, and I heartily agree, is that Christina Aguilera will go on to longtime success as a singing star and that Britney Spears will likely have to veer into acting to maintain her momentum in the business."

January 18, 2001 - Entertaindom.com reported a quote from a fan who witnessed Britney and Justin in LA walking under the Virgin umbrella who quipped, "I don't know if Britney and Justin realized what they were doing. January 18, 2001 - Britney was at a press conference in Rio ahead of her Rock In Rio performance today.

January 18, 2001 - AFP reports Britney Spears used the help of a look-alike, Renata Barros, to distract fans and the press during her stay in Rio this week. Barros told AFP, "She asked for a double who could confuse fans and journalists when she comes out of the hotel, so that she can have things a bit quieter around town."

January 13, 2001 - Ryan Phillippe was on the Tonight Show Friday and they brought up the whole Justin lookalike angle. Ryan talked about the psychic on TRL who predicted he'd be replacing Justin in the band this year and said he'd like a cut in what Justin's getting, Jay joked that would be Britney Spears.

January 13, 2001 - Number 6 on Entertainment Weekly's Hot Sheet, Madonna and Britney - They're thinking about making a record together. Its working title is "Oops!... I Left the House Naked Again."

January 13, 2001 - Esquire reports Britney Spears banned former porn creator Gregory Dark from directing anymore of her videos. Dark explains, "Her record company won't use me any more when it came out what I used to do. So I made some porno movies. Big deal. I didn't hurt anybody."

January 13, 2001 - Britney Spears has signed on to star in a yet to be titled film which will begin shooting in March, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The budget will only be $10 million. Spears will play a model student who reunites with two former friends on a cross-country road trip.

January 13, 2001 - In Spin's Readers Poll 2000, Britney Spears was 3rd to *NSYNC and to Limp Bizkit in the Worst Artist category. Spin called the her the "lone fish floating atop dirty water in a tiny barrel." Britney's Oops... also placed 2nd for Worst Album... again Limp Bizkit got top honors. January 13, 2001 - Megastar is reporting that Britney Spears has been spending hours on the phone with Macaulay Culkin after meeting her following one of her concerts in London. They report Justin was furious with a source revealing, "Justin exploded when he found out that Macaulay and Britney had made plans to meet up in Los Angeles. He quickly got Macaulay on the phone and basically told him to stay away from Britney ­ or else. But Britney exploded when she heard what Justin had done and it caused a big row between them." January 12, 2001 - The Sun reports Tommy Hilfiger lose his cell phone which had Britney Spears number programmed in it.

January 12, 2001 - MSNBC's Jeannette Walls asked Rav Singh of News of the World to elaborate on his drinking with Britney. Singh told her Spears "definitely was drinking" and "drinking beer". Singh added of their New Year's Eve encounter in New York, "I’ve talked to her a number of times before. She told me that sometimes she drinks so much that she gets hangovers."

January 10, 2001 - MTV Asia reports fast food employees may have a shot, albeit slim, with Britney, as she admits, "If I fell in love with someone who worked in McDonald's, then I'd just have to go with my heart and be with that person. Generally, someone in the business knows what you are going through."

January 10, 2001 - Despite earlier reports, the duet between Britney and Madonna is uncertain, as Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg told the Associated Press, "It's nowhere near being a reality. It's one of many things Madonna is thinking about in the future."

January 7, 2001 - The Sun is reporting additional details on Britney and Madonna's planned duet, which apparently will be recorded in May. A Britney spokeswoman told The Sun, "It was meant to be a big secret but it has leaked out. At this stage we are not sure what the song will be or whose album it will appear on. But they both want to do it."

Britney's favorite gossip scribe Rav Singh reported that he bumped into the two in New York on New Year's Eve, where he reported he drank "a few beers with her fiancé Justin Timberlake".... Fiancé? January 7, 2001 - Worldpop reports Britney's younger sister Jamie Lyn told her that she wasn't interested in performing with her at the Grammys. Britney said her sister told her, "You know, if I do that, the next day all these producers will be calling me! I'm just not ready to deal with that."

January 6, 2001 - Therumour.com reports Britney received two four-wheel drive dirt racers from her manager and Jamie Lynn got a real life motorized car from FAO Schwartz. Britney bought Lynn a SUV and a Porsche Boxster.

This prompted Ted to ask "why do I suddenly see this boy band plummeting on the charts as they continue on the road to domesticity?" Ted points to the rumors that Justin and Britney are planning on marriage as well.

January 4, 2001 - Elle magazine has Madonna gushing about Britney Spears in their latest issue as she confesses, "She bowls me over. I love Britney. I want to do nothing but support her and praise her - I mean, she's 18-years-old. It's just shocking. I wish I'd had my s*** together when I was 18. I was so gawky and geeky and awkward and unsure of myself. I didn't have a tan. I didn't know how to dress. We're different, apples and oranges, but I became obsessed with wearing Britney T-shirts. I slept in them as well. It was like I felt it would bring me luck and it did. Britney became my talisman. Can I say I find it really irritating that everyone beats up on Britney Spears."

January 4, 2001 - Foxnews.com's Roger Friedman said his vote for Best Pop Female Performance in this year's Grammy Awards should go to Christina Aguilera, though he termed both her and Britney Spears as "teen sluts" in his article and said his Aguilera vote was "just to be cotentious."

January 4, 2001 - In an Abstracts.net poll asking who do you think is the best match for Britney, a large majority of 65.4% said it was her current boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, with Prince William getting 21.4% and Ben Affleck getting 13.3%. An incredible 5867 total votes were cast.

January 4, 2001 - The Sun reports the first comments from Britney Spears following the incident on her UK tour when a British fan ran onstage and tried to attack her. Spears said, "This guy jumped up, took his shirt off and started going crazy. I thought, 'Oh, Lordy, what are you doing?' I was petrified but one of my dancers just walked up to him and said, 'Get off the stage.' It was very brave of him." Since then her dancers have taken self-defense training and security has been stepped up.

January 4, 2001 - Britney Spears has been nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Oops.. I did it Again) and Best Pop Vocal Album (Oops!... January 4, 2001 - In an Abstracts.net poll asking if they thought Justin Timberlake sees other women besides Britney, 56.1% said he does, while 43.9% of the 4815 total respondents said Justin was faithful to his girlfriend.

January 3, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports Christina Aguilera was very upset when she found out Yaboom, the company who markets dolls for her, Britney, Sisqo, and others, made the dolls so that the chip that made them sing be interchangable. Fearing Britney's songs would be sung from her doll, a well place source told the Daily News Christina "threw a major hissy fit. She threatened to pull out of the deal. Yaboom had to retool the entire line." A rep for Aguilera said she didn't know anything about it, while Yaboom refused comment.
