April 30, 2001 - Thanks Rick. Apparently Jennifer Lopez was Andy Hilfiger's second choice to start a junior clothing line as a deal with Britney Spears reportedly fell through.

April 30, 2001 - A Woman's Journal survey of the 100 most elegant women did not include Britney, prompting the editor of the magazine, Elsa McAlonan, to say, "Britney and Madonna may set the trends in the fashion stakes, but elegance is an elusive, timeless quality that's above current trends and can't be bought off-the-peg." April 29, 2001 - Apparently the ad spots from Britney Spears are paying off for Pepsi, as the company reported an 18% profit rise for the first quarter (though their snack business, Frito-Lay played a much larger role). Read more.

April 29, 2001 - Skechers shoes reported strong first-quarter profits after signing Britney Spears for advertisements outside the United States. Read more.

April 28, 2001 - Thanks Rick. The LA Times talked to AC/DC guitarist Angus Young who compared himself to Britney saying,  "Britney Spears wears a school suit, too. She looks cuter in it than me, I'll give her that. " Young says he's not worried about Spears putting him out of a job...at least, not yet. "It's when she starts playing guitar, that's when I'll start to worry, I think," he said.

April 28, 2001 - Planethollywood.com reports on Sweden's credit for creating some of the biggest names in pop, including  *NSYNC, Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, LFO and Westlife. Read more.

April 28, 2001 - Dees Sleaze reports Britney Spears and three friends trashed a clothing store causing the female owner of the store to call her a spoiled brat and spank her. Hear the whole report here.

April 27, 2001 - The New York Post's Mitchell Fink reports the producer of Chicago, Marty Richards, saying Britney's odds of getting in the film are slim and none.  "Britney Spears doesn't have a chance in hell" to be exact. Fink also reports a friend of his who checked into the W Hotel in Los Angeles had a handwritten note saying Thanks, W. Love Always, Britney Spears" in his room, as the housekeeper must have missed it when cleaning the room.

April 27, 2001 - Britain's Maxim readers choice Britney Spears as eighth in a survey of the world's sexiest woman of all time, losing out to former Big Breakfast presenter Kelly Brook and Marilyn Monroe, amongst others. Read more.

April 26, 2001 - Worldpop reports a recent survey in Family Circle indicated 43% of women were offended by Britney's stripper attire at the 2000 MTV Music Video Awards.

April 25, 2001 - Thanks k0navy9. Not sure where this was taken from but an interesting interview with Britney's Don't Let Me Be The Last to Know co-star Brice Durand talking about the video and Britney.

April 24, 2001 - O-Town band member Jacob told NME.com he had no interest in dating Britney saying, "I don't take any sloppy seconds." Bandmate Erik said when asked if he'd rather have sex with Britney or Christina responded, "I don't really want to sleep with either of them. If I had to, I'd do both. At the same time." Read more.

April 24, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports Britney Spears is a 'long shot' for consideration for a role in the movie version of the Broadway show Chicago which is in development at Miramax.

April 24, 2001 - Britney Spears new book A Mother's Gift debuted in the #6 spot on the New York Times bestsellers list, only being kept off the top spot by multiple Harry Potter books and Castaways Of the Flying Dutchman.

April 22, 2001 - Dees Sleaze reports Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears plan on getting married when they turned 25.

April 22, 2001 - A curly-haired Britney Spears appeared via 'slime satellite' on the Nickelodean Kid's Choice Awards to accept the award for Favorite Female Singer.

April 22, 2001 - An autographed photo of Britney Spears is up for bids on ebay. The photo, item #1424582710, is bid at $17.50 and the auction ends April 23rd.

April 21, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports Liz Rosenberg, rep for Madonna, denies that she's  mad at Britney Spears for asking her to play her alcoholic mother in Spears' first movie. Rosenberg says, "She was never offered the part. Madonna and Britney still haven't met, but Madonna continues to maintain a great fondness for Britney."

April 21, 2001 - The Express reports Britney Spears book A Mother's Gift is aimed at 9 to 12 year olds and is being described as ‘so cotton-candy sweet, dripping with pure sugar that it is enough to make you ill'.

April 21, 2001 - 9 year old Katie Pack got the opportunity to meet Britney Spears in Los Angeles Wedesday as she battles a a cancerous brain tumor. Read more.

April 20, 2001 - Peoplenews.com reports Madonna is furious over Britney's offer for her to play her mother in a movie role. A source says, "I can imagine that Madonna would be put out. Although she’s a mum of two and easily old enough to have a daughter of Britney's age, she still sees herself as a sexy woman and certainly wouldn’t want to play a 19-year-old’s mother." Read more.

April 20, 2001 - Britney was a focus of PBS Frontline who did a special this week on The Merchants of Cool, where they described her saying, "When Britney finally and famously came out of her clothes, she wasn't just pleasing eager young boys, she was delivering a powerful missive to girls: Your body is your best asset. Flaunt your sexuality even if you don't understand it. And that's the message that matters most because Britney's most loyal fans are teenage girls." PBS will re-air the eye-opening special May 1st.

April 18, 2001 - MTV reports *NSYNC and Britney Spears will join Michael Jackson for a massive concert tribute at New York's Madison Square Garden on September 7th. The taped-nose one admitted, "I am very excited to celebrate my 30th anniversary as a solo artist with such a distinguished array of talent, friends and fans." Read more.

April 12, 2001 - Britney Spears won Favorite Female Artist, Pop  at the Blockbuster awards Monday night.

April 12, 2001 - The Sun reports Charlotte Church is calling Britney and Christina's look's too sexy saying, "Britney looks great and so does Christina but they don't need to do all that stuff they do in their videos. Christina, especially, has an amazing amount of talent and she doesn't have to do that."

April 11, 2001 - Jay Leno joked about Britney Spears during Tuesday's Tonight Show monologue saying, "It seems the principal of a Cincinnati school has sent a letter to parents -- sent a letter home to parents, rather -- regarding allegations that a fifth grade class was swapping sex for soda money. Trading sex for soda. So apparently that new Britney Spears Pepsi ad's are really working. How creepy is that? Actually, a novel written by Britney Spears and her mother was released today. It's called 'A Mother's Gift.' And if you've ever seen Britney in a tube top, i think what you know what the gift is."

Justin's mother Lynn talked to J-14 about her son's relationship with Britney revealing, "We love Brit and we are so happy that he has found someone so special in his life, and someone who treats him like he is so special to her. If they continue to grow together, he may have found he perfect mate."

April 10, 2001 - The Enquirer profiled celebrities who've reportedly had implants showing these before-after photos of Britney Spears. They matter of factly state, "the former Mousketeer got breast implants at the tender age of 17!"

April 8, 2001 - Kid Rock was the special guest on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update last night where he asked during his Hollywood Minute report, "First off -- Britney Spears. Is it me, or does she look like the hamburgler?"

April 8, 2001  - The Sun reports Dido apparently has helped Britney Spears produce several tracks as well as written at least two songs on her upcoming album.

April 8, 2001 - Worldpop reports the title of Britney's first movie still hasn't been confirmed now that four different titles have been leaked, which, in order, include, Untitled Britney Spears Project, Going On The Road, Just Good Friends and currently Nutmeg's Travel.

April 7, 2001 - The London Mirror reports Britney Spears filmed her first movie kiss.

April 7, 2001 - The Enquirer's Mike Walker was on Howard Stern today and his fake headline was "Britney Spears and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake ran back to her room at the Four Seasons hotel to have some fun. Justin was whispering sweet-nothings in her ear when Brit's phone rang. Her answering machine picked up and it was her mother asking if the anti-fungal cream had worked. Britney then said 'No wonder I'm still a virgin!'"

April 6, 2001 - Worldpop reports Britney Spears says it's unlikely that she'll record a duet with Madonna because of too much 'record company politics'

April 6, 2001 - Britney Spears told Glamour magazine the person she'd most like to meet is Oprah Winfrey. Spears admitted Oprah has "so much wisdom. I'd ask her about relationships and just chitchat with her."

April 6, 2001 - Britney Spears was photographed on the set of her new movie on Tuesday in Hollywood.

April 5, 2001 - With both Britney and Justin in Ted Casablanca's home turf of LA, the E! Online gossip man is dishing the dirt on Justin apparently owning a house right near Britney's new pad, which incidently was just swept for bugs and wires. Read more.

April 5, 2001 - REM's Michael Stipe is taking shots at the top pop artists and includes Eminem in the bunch telling NME, "One of the great things about being around as long as we have is you watch stuff come and go," Stipe told NME.COM. "It's there, it serves its purpose, it's gone. I really like the disposable pop music that's prevalent on American pop radio: *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and Eminem." Asked to comment if Em just like the other bands mentioned, he said, "Very much...It's no less packaged."

April 5, 2001 - Worldpop reports Britney Spears is again denying rumors that she is planning to marry boyfriend, Justin Timberlake.

April 5, 2001 - Worldpop reports the debut novel by Britney Spears, A Mother's Gift, was perhaps actually written by ghostwriter Tom Carter, who just handed over his draft to Britney and Lynne for approval and any changes they wanted to make. The book is due out next Tuesday.

April 4, 2001 - Popular German website Giga.de is reporting rumors that Britney Spears may be pregnant. Britney has been wearing looser blouses lately and has been buying jeans two sizes larger than normal, according to spies. April 4, 2001 - The New York Daily News reveals Britney was being 'Bratney' to her fans at the Family Celebration Sunday, refusing to sign autographs for anybody except Sugar Ray Leonard, as Justin graciously signed autographs and allowed pictures to be taken by anyone with a camera. Rude Britney also was reportedly talking loudly at her table during a musical performance by Ray Charles.

April 3, 2001 - Jay Leno joked about the cola war between Britney and Christina saying, "In advertising news, Christina [Jay mistakenly called her 'Christine'] Aguilera has been signed to endorse Coca-Cola. She's doing Coke. You know Britney Spears, of course, does Pepsi. Actually, originally, Coke wanted to hire Britney, but then they would have to drop the slogan -- 'It's the real thing.'"

April 3, 2001 - Britney Spears and Lil' Kim tied for first as the celebrity with the worst wardrobe by Jane magazine in the magazine's annual entertainment poll of readers.
