August 31, 2001 - Well again a British tabloid is reporting that Britney Spears and longtime boyfriend Justin Timberlake are engaged. The Sun's Clodagh Hartley reports Justin proposed while the two were recording the track where Justin provides backing vocals on Britney's new album. Read more.

August 31, 2001 - After recuperating from being dumped by the amazingly beautiful Charlize Theron, Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins tells KYSR DJ Ryan Seacrest that Britney Spears and model Josie Maran are on his "Hump Island" of women he'd like to have sex with.

August 31, 2001 - A story on MTVasia that no doubt originated w/ a British tabloid as Britney's quoted using the word 'rubbish'.  Apparently Britney would like to work with Samantha when the two have time in their schedules to do so. Read more.

August 30, 2001 - Demands that were revealed in Britney Spears tour rider appear to be still going on as Peoplenews.com says she's not only making the same kind of demands in the earlier rider, but now has new ones including Britney's refusing to discuss her alleged breast job, her no-sex-before-marriage policy, a rumoured tryst with Ben Affleck, and her relationship with Justin Timberlake. August 30, 2001 - TRL today promo'd Britney Spears MTV Diary which includes a scene with Britney and Justin kissing on the lips as he has his arms around her.

August 30, 2001 - Peoplenews.com reports Britney Spears is a huge fan of birdwatching and has filled her LA home with pictures of her with birds as well as bird statues. Read more.

August 29, 2001 - K.D. Lang shared her feelings on Mariah Carey and Britney Spears to The New York Post's Liz Smith saying, "You know they are both really good singers. But they are caught in the push to be overly sexy and to sell themselves as objects when it's enough that they are great singers. I feel for them. They're in the grip of the celebrity sex madness that is going on. I'm not a prude, but where do they go from here?"

August 26, 2001 - Apparently the Daily News' story on Britney being in Utah was incorrect as this photo from yesterday shows Britney at the Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts in Yarmouth, Mass.

August 26, 2001 - Britney Spears VMA commercial began airing where Britney tells Jamie Foxx she was gonna help him with his dance moves and she started doing the worm... Funny stuff.

August 26, 2001 - Thanks AllieBomb, "I saw the preview for Diary and it looks really good. It showed her driving in her car, then she was with her family laughing,then with Justin at CFTC,  working out, and at the end it showed her doing this photo shoot and OMG she was wearing this one outfit, all she had on was a tuxedo jacket and that was it! U could see it from the side and her freakin boob was bout to pop out! lol So much for talk bout her toning down her image!She also was wearing this way pretty purple dress and this really cool black like rock and roll outfit that I hope she wears on her cover.Anyways Im really excited bout it!"

August 26, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports Britney Spears is spending the weekend on Utah's Lake Powell to work with Wayne Isham on her next video... Photos prove otherwise unless she jetted off after the Yarmouth gig.

August 25, 2001 - Timbaland was on Much Music today criticizing Mariah's look in Loverboy trying to compete with Britney saying, "Look at Mariah Carey, I mean what was that? Now why would she, a woman in her thirties, a woman who has had 15 #1 hit singles, even compete with Britney Spears, or Britney Whatever!"

August 25, 2001 - Deborah Gibson talked to MTV.com about Britney Spears saying, "It seems as though she can distinguish between what she does onstage and what she does in her life. She puts on her face and her clothes and her hair extensions, turns up the energy and goes for it, which I enjoy. I don't get the feeling she takes that side of herself too seriously. She always has a little tongue-in-cheek glint in her eye when she performs." Read more.

August 25, 2001 - WorldofBritney.com reports Britney will perform I'm A Slave 4 U at the Sydney Opera House on September 13th.

August 25, 2001 - MTV talked to Britney Spears about working with Justin on the single What It's Like To Be Me where Justin provided backing vocals. Spears admits, "I have to say I was a little nervous at first." Read more, including Britney's opening tour dates where O-Town will open for her.

August 24, 2001 - The New York Post reports they hear Britney Spears will sing a number in which she sounds like she's "simulating an orgasm" as part of her appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 6th. Read more.

August 24, 2001 - The Globe's Charlene Tilton reports Britney Spears was spotted wearing a hot pink, tight midriff top, skirt, matching boots, and sunglasses during a trip to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Beverly Hills.

August 23, 2001 - The Star reports Britney Spears had iced vanilla coffee drinks delivered to her 6 times in only 1 day during her last video shoot.

August 23, 2001 - Apparently the Britney Spears Ferrari story originated in the Star, still no word from Britney's camp in response to the tabloid report.

August 23, 2001 - New Zealand's Xtra reports Jessica Simpson is clarifying her opinion of Britney and Christina saying,  "I did something for a magazine a while ago and they completely twisted my words on Britney and Christina just to make the story look better. And that really frustrates me, because I've always been so positive about both of them. I think Britney is an amazing performer and I think Christina's an amazing singer, and they work as hard as me, if not harder. I would never say anything negative about somebody, especially somebody I respect. It just sucks that people twist your words like that."

August 23, 2001 - Sweden's AftonBladet is previewing songs on the new Britney Spears album, apparently just rehashing what WorldofBritney.com has reported. Check out there comments here.

August 22, 2001 - From Monday night's Jay Leno monologue, "Britney spears wrecked her $200,000 Ferrari after she downshifted into second gear going 85 miles an hour. But never any danger of her gettin' hurt. She wasn't hurt 'cause luckily, both her and the car have the dual air bags, so they're fine."

August 22, 2001 - Henry Rollins was on Howard Stern Tuesday complaining about MTV and Rolling Stone saying the only reason Rolling Stone has Britney Spears on the cover this week is for money. Rollins complains music has become more about the visual and less about the music.

August 21, 2001 - MTV.com's preview of Britney's Diary episode, "Summerbreak? There's no such thing for Britney Spears. Hang with Britney from Memorial Day to Labor Day as she records her new album, works on her new movie, makes a NASCAR appearance, plays basketball with *NSYNC, hangs out at her summer camp, and even finds time for family, friends and her boyfriend. Whew! Sounds like Britney needs a vacation!"

August 21, 2001 - MSNBC's Jeannette Walls included a guide to the 20 rules of celebrity dating which included takes on Jennifer Lopez, Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, and Britney Spears. Britney admits, "I walk around my house naked, so I'm not very modest or whatever. I think the body's a beautiful thing, and you should not hide youself. August 19, 2001 - US Weekly reports Britney Spears will help PETA in launching it's new website, Pleatheryourself.com. Dan Mathews, a PETA director says, "She's a big pleather fan." Check out the site here.

August 19, 2001 - US Weekly's Fashion Police ripped into Britney Spears outfit at the release party for Celebrity as Heather McDonald joked, "I'll show my pelvic bones but not my feet," while Cathryn Michon joked, "To you, it's a wad of tinfoil; to me, it's a blouse!"

August 19, 2001 - From The International Herald Tribune: "Educators and parents roundly blame one pop star for making fashion standards more, well, sexual: Britney Spears. The name rolls off their lips as though they are talking about the school bully." Read more.

August 18, 2001 - Norm Clarke reports The MGM Grand has a Britney Spears deal in the works involving a Thanksgiving TV special. Her first guest is scheduled to be Cher.

August 18, 2001 - Dotmusic reports Britney Spears tore out the gearbox in a Ferrari 360 Modena in Beverley Hills earlier this week, causing the car to blow-out, swerve across two lanes before crashing to a stop.... But how does a $300+ car crash to a stop going 85 MPH and only sustain damage to the gearbox? Read more.

August 17, 2001 - Worldofbritney.com reports Britney is in San Diego filming a new Pepsi commercial.

August 16, 2001 - Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Ja Rule have been added to the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, to be held September 6 from the Metropolitan Opera House. Britney will debut her new song I'm A Slave 4 U according to reports.

August 15, 2001 - Helena posted a couple of links to vidcaps of Justin and Britney, one of which was a kiss exchanged between the two when Britney was presented with her Teen Choice Award.

August 15, 2001 - Dotmusic reports the unofficial Britney website which said Britney would first release of her new album would be I'm A Slave 4 U now says she'll do a debut performance of the song in Australia when she visits Sydney September 13 and 14. Read more.

August 14, 2001 - MTV.com reports Michael Jackson and Britney Spears will duet on The Way You Make Me Feel on September 7th at Madison Square Garden while the same night Jackson will perform Dancing Machine with *NSYNC. Read more.

August 14, 2001 - Entertainment Tonight interviewed Justin and Britney from the red carpet of the Teen Choice Awards, where they report they have not recorded a duet.

August 14, 2001 - The San Francisco Examiner slammed Britney saying, "A growing number of parents are becoming outraged by what they see on the shelves, and say they won't buckle under societal pressures to transform their daughters into clones of Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera." Read more.

August 12, 2001 - Willa Ford slammed a guy on the MTV 20 Years of Hooking Up special where a guy Britney set up on a date where the guy complained he couldn't find someone who wanted to be more than friends. Willa said, "Maybe you wouldn't have such a problem if you didn't still live at home with Britney Spears pictures on your wall."

August 12, 2001 - Thanks Mark. Interesting prediction from 800predict.com which seems to have hit the nail on the head with Britney wearing a ring on her finger around July of 2001. Read more.

August 12, 2001 - US Weekly reports a  spy on the set of What Friends are For reveals, "Britney kept begging the director to do a topless scene, because she wanted to show off her body." The director told her it wasn't a good idea and she'd likely alienate her younger audience. Apparently, they reached a compromise and Britney ended up doing "a wet t-shirt scene, but Britney was visibly upset, so they stopped filming. Davis denies actually shooting a wet t-shirt scene to US Weekly.

August 12, 2001 - Entertainment Weekly reports the producer to Britney's new film, Ann Carli, says Spears is serious about acting, "Britney and her managers really wanted her to [have] a shot for a credible acting career." Read more.

August 10, 2001 - The Sun reports Britney Spears has confirmed that she is to duet with Michael Jackson on a version of his 1987 hit The Way You Make Me Feel during the weird one's 30th anniversary concert at New York's Madison Square Garden next month. 

August 9, 2001 - Sonicnet reports Britney and Justin have just completed a duet.  Rich Travali, who is mixing the track this week in New York revealed, "It's a slick pop thing, very aggressive." Read more.

August 9, 2001 - The Star somehow got photos of Britney Spears home including her bedroom at the Serenity estate in Kentwood. Included in the home is a painting of Britney in a Victorian era dress, which a friend reveals, "Sometimes she looks up at it and pretends to dance the night away with a beau in her arms. Her family laughs and says she's dreaming about Justin."

August 8, 2001 - Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and The Backstreet Boys will be amongst those showcased in a major exhibition tracing teen idols at Cleveland's Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame.

August 8, 2001 - Worldpop reports Justin Timberlake has revealed why he calls Britney 'Pinky', as the name comes from a mouse who appears on their favourite cartoon show, Steven Spielberg Presents Pinky And The Brain.

August 7, 2001 - Radio personality Sonny Melendrez interviewed *NSYNC before their concert in San Antonio where rumors Britney and Justin would appear in a movie together were denied. Sonny said, "There's been talk about Justin (Timberlake) and Britney (Spears) appearing together in a movie, but Justin said that was not true, although he said he would like to be in one with her just to see her more often." August 7, 2001 - The Sun reports Bloomingdale's asked Eminem to come up with a display for Enyce, and he suggested dummy of himself on a toilet surrounded by posters of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. A store boss turned down the idea saying, "The toilet would have been very hip, but not tasteful."

August 7, 2001 - News.com.au reports Britney Spears will visit Sydney, Australia next month for a brief promotional tour. Read more.

August 6, 2001 - Jim Bob Dwarf interviewed Quiet Riot bass player Rudy Sarzo for Metal-Sludge.com and exchanged the following conversation; Rudy "I think Britney is very sexy." Jim-Bob "And she's legal now!" Rudy "Yes. Legal. Yep, definitely Britney. Christina, (Rudy scowls) ahhh, I don't like. She annoys me."

August 6, 2001 - Norm Clarke reports Las Vegas nightclub C2K is flirting with trouble after allowing Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to party in the nightclub until dawn. Tye Smith insisted no alcohol was served to the two minors but state liquor officials countered, "It's cut and dried with a nightclub. You have to be 21 because it's hard to control. August 6, 2001 - Nicole Kidman revealed to the New York Daily News' Mitchell Fink that her and Tom's child Isabella is a big fan of The Backstreet Boys. She says during a cell phone call with Isabella where she passed a hotel they were in, "She went wild, Britney Spears does that to her, too."

August 5, 2001 - US Weekly's Fashion Police went after Britney's short purple outfit for the HBO Press tour. VH1 writer Mark Puner said, "Loni Anderson called; she wants her look back." Comedian Susie Felber joked, "Barbie: Pants sold separately." WKTU's Goluma Johnny cracked, "It's true - Justin wears the pants in our relationship."

August 5, 2001 - Former teen idol Leif Garrett is blasting Britney Spears in September's Spin magazine saying, "Doing that Pepsi commercian was like letting on that she knows this isn't gonna last and she should just cash in." Garrett's advice to Spears, "Avoiding gross commercialism might help. Get the word out that you're writing. You're reinventing yourself." Garrett picked Mandy Moore as his favorite of the current crop of pop stars.

August 5, 2001 - BritneyNewz.com has a Jive Records schedule of Britney's April visit last year to London. Check out the tidbit: "The paparazzi will be outside the hotel as Britney arrives, so she needs to look like the 'superstar', to draw attention to herself to make the front pages!" Read more.

August 5, 2001 - A Marie Claire Spanish edition magazine from May 2001 featuring Britney Spears on the cover is up for bids on ebay. The magazine, item 1452657193, is unbid at $9.99 with the auction ending August 9th.

August 4, 2001 - Peoplenews.com reports Britney did a show in Rio earlier this week that left critics and fans alike disappointed at the limited amounts of Britney’s virginal flesh on display. Read more.

August 4, 2001 - BT talked to Launch.com about working 2 tracks on Britney's upcoming album saying, "They're both great. One of them is absolutely outrageous, goes back and forth between her singing double-time over these Timbaland-style half-time beats, and then the choruses are progressive house. So it's double-time, and she's singing half-time over top of it. It's insane, man. Everybody that's heard it is, like, 'F--kin' outrageous! Really cool!'"

August 2, 2001 - Gideon talked to the Neptunes at the MTV 20th Birthday Bash where they revealed they were working with Britney in studio on Tuesday night saying, "I'll let out a little bit, it's just that, you know, we do all kinds of music and that's kinda like a big misconception about us. With us, music is just like what it is, it's music only segregated because of the peoples. Music is music. To know we work with Britney Spears, Limp Bizkit, No Doubt, Backstreet Boys."

August 2, 2001 - Twisted Sister's Dee Snyder proclaimed to be a fashion trend setter at the MTV 20th Birthday Bash saying, "The next Britney Spears will have the pompador and the suit. It will on and awesome. I think it would be good for her."

August 2, 2001 - Britney Spears is on the cover of Forbes this month where they profile Sketchers asking if it will become the next Nike of sneakers. They say Britney's ads aren't appearing in the US because exec's at the company fear her young image will spook the adult customers the company has landed in the US. August 2, 2001 - Breath a sigh of relief Justin lovers as The Sun reports the official word (from who is not revealed) on Britney Spears' diamond ring: "It is a gift from her brother."
