September 30, 2001 - 1 minute and 10 second clips from every song on Britney Spears' new album have been posted on the Digital Island website at 28, 56, and 100 kbps speeds. You can check them all out here, though how long they remain up is anybody's guess. Also, check out an 'Elvis' tease of 'I'm a Slave 4 U' where Britney opens with 'Thank you very much' here.

September 29, 2001 - Buddyhead.com reports Britney Spears' management have sent a cease and desist notice to Jeff Wood of the band Shat, over what they call "completely offensive cover artwork" for Shat's album "C*** Flavored Lollipops". Britney's image is used on the album cover with a lollipop showing a female genetalia. Jeff plans on sending the letter to the website soon and they'll publish it. 

September 29, 2001 - Jay Leno joked during his monologue on Friday, "Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's vacation home was broken into. Thieves made off with $5,000 in possessions. The good news is police caught the thieves, but among the items stolen -- a home video with 'personal' footage on it. Well, since Britney claims to be a virgin, it's just two hours of her going, 'No, I said no. No.'"

September 29, 2001 - Dotmusic reports Britney Spears' Pepsi ads have been pulled by the soft drink giant as the company fears alienating sensitive consumers with the frivolous spots. Pepsi expects to continue airing the spots sometime in the future after the somber mood of the United States lifts following the terrorist attacks in the country September 11. 

September 29, 2001 - IMDB reports Justin Long commenting on his dream job of working with Britney Spears as he admits, "It was a dream job - it was the best job. I got to spend four hours with Britney in our underwear - and they paid me for it." Justin was surprised to get the role adding, "I went in for a lark because I thought it would be fun to say I auditioned for the Britney Spears movie. But I really thought I had no chance."

September 28, 2001 - Obviously there is a good chance this page is a hoax, but someone on a geocities webpage is claiming to be the ex boyfriend of Britney Spears, Reg Jones. On his homepage, besides photos of the two, Reg admits how their relationship turned out saying, "Contrary to rumors, I BROKE UP WITH HER! She did not dump me. And yes, I'm regretting it. Who wouldn't be? How was I supposed to know that in just a year she'd be the sexiest, most talented, billion dollar pop star that she is now? Oh well... life goes on..." September 28, 2001 - WENN reports Britney Spears is hurt by charges that she's a bad role model for young females and the charges that she's had her breasts enlarged. Britney admits, "That hurts me a lot, because the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC will grind with a microphone and no one says a word. But I show a little belly and people get in an uproar." Read more.

September 28, 2001 - You'll need to have America Online to get the opportunity to purchase tickets to Britney Spears' upcoming tour in advance as beginning today, each AOL member can purchase up to 4 tickets for Britney's gigs in Columbus, Ohio (Nov. 1), Uniondale, N.Y. (Nov. 7), University Park, Pa. (Nov. 8), Cleveland (Nov. 9), Denver (Nov. 12), Chicago (Nov. 29), Boston (Dec. 2), Albany, N.Y. (Dec. 3), Hartford, Conn. (Dec. 8), and Philadelphia (Dec. 10). 

September 27, 2001 - The Sun has mugshots of four of the suspected burglars at the couple's rented home in Destin, Florida. There is fear that even though the tape containing "personal moments" between Britney and Justin was recovered, there may have been copies made which could be sold to the highest bidder or put out on the internet. September 26, 2001 - AP reports police arrested four teenage boys Saturday night on burglary charges and grand theft in Destin, Florida, after they broke into a rental home of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Read more.

September 26, 2001 - The MTV Europe Music Awards have been announced where *NSYNC will battle Britney Spears and Atomic Kitten for Best Pop act. The show that will be held November 8 in Frankfurt, Germany. Read more.

September 26, 2001 -  Besides the controversial cover of Arena magazine that was pulled, Justin Timberlake was also interviewed and talked of his relationship with Britney in a broader, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus perspective. Read more.

September 24, 2001 - Mandy thanked fans for sticking up for her on her official site message board and talked about how while she posts on her board which is rare compared to her peers, she understands Britney Spears and *NSYNC don't have the time she might have. Read more.

September 23, 2001 - During an online interview with Getmusic.com earlier this week, Drowning Pool's vocalist Dave Williams responded to whether he liked Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera better by saying Britney, but added "I like Mandy Moore better than any of them."

September 23, 2001 - According to the New York Post, the Nile Rodgers remake of We Are Family which Britney Spears and *NSYNC are scheduled to take part in is facing controversy as Joan Rivers has mounted a boycott of the idea she originally was set to help sponsor. Read more.

September 22, 2001 - Worldpop is reporting that Britney Spear's new video for 'I'm A Slave 4 U' will have Britney dancing in an Asian bath house, where she'll play the role of a slave. As her and her dancers sweat to the tune, they become dehydrated and then search to quench their thirst with water. The site also reports the video for 'I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman' has also been shot but details to that video have been kept secret. 

September 22, 2001 - Britney Spears will be on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno October 11; a special MTV weekend November 3 & 4; The Rosie O' Donnell Show November 5; The Late Show with David Letterman November 6; and HBO Live From Las Vegas November 18. 

September 22, 2001 - Jive Records released the full track listing of Britney Spears' new album 'Britney' due out November 6. The radio single and video for I'm A Slave 4 U will debut on September 24. Read on for the full 12 track listing.

September 22, 2001 - The pop community is well represented in the What's Going On remake that benefits AIDS research and relief to victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. September 21, 2001 - According to Worldpop, Britney Spears and NSYNC's Justin Timberlake have pulled out of a Michael Jackson's charity CD in aid of victims of the US terrorist attacks on September 11. Destiny's Child and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys still are set to appear on the CD.

September 21, 2001 - News.com.au reports Britney Spears left with an entourage of six from the Sydney Airport on her way back to the United States, with her flight leaving just after 2 PM local time.

September 21, 2001 - Worldpop is reporting Britney Spears' use of a 7 foot albino snake during her performance on the Video Music Awards left the singer in hives. Britney revealed, "At rehearsals they kept saying, 'Britney, just get comfortable with the snake, get to know it,' and I was like, 'I don't want to get to know this snake.' It was around me and it kept turning its face and looking at me and pointing its tongue out at me and I got so scared that I broke out in hives everywhere. In rehearsals I was a wreck, but once I went on stage, I was fine because I knew I just had to do it."

September 20, 2001 - Dees Sleaze reported today that Britney Spears is still staying in Australia fearing the thought of having to fly back to the United States following the terrorist attacks in the US on September 11.

September 20, 2001 - The Sydney Daily Telegraph reports Britney Spears may have jeapordized her relationship with Pepsi, perhaps to the tune of $7 million, after being photographed holding a near empty bottle of Coke last Saturday at Sydney Harbour. September 20, 2001 - Foxnews.com's Roger Friedman is reporting a slew of stars, possibly including *NSYNC and Britney Spears, have signed on or are close to signing on to record a remake of Nile Rogers penned hit, We Are Family. The plans are a Saturday recording of the song with one group of stars in New York. Money raised from the effort will go to World Trade Center victims and their families. Read more.

September 17, 2001 - Oasis411.com reports Irish singer Samantha Mumba made some interesting comments recently saying in an interview, "Black kids in America can't look to Britney for how to do their hair and make-up or anything like that. September 17, 2001 - The Dallas Morning News' Thor Christensen is profiling pop acts who blend lip synching into dance performances with the focus on Britney Spears and veteran performer Madonna, and rehashes the Milli Vanilli and New Kids on the Block lipsynching controversies in the past. September 16, 2001 - Britney Spears made the US Weekly 2001 Best Dressed List's Bring Up The Rear (ie. worst-dressed) section where her melon colored Billboard Music Awards dress was mocked. Said radio personality Amy Fenster, "The melon accentuates her melons."

September 15, 2001 - Britney Spears cancelled her promotional trips to the UK and Latin America releasing a statement to that effect citing the need to be back home with family following the terrorist attacks in the US Tuesday. Read more.

September 14, 2001 - News on Worldpop and a BT fan site indicate that the producer has pulled two songs he produced for Britney Spears for her new album, Britney. No word yet on the reasoning behind the decision.

September 13, 2001 - Britney Spears arrived in Australia Wednesday morning and learned of the tragic terrorist acts in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania and has concelled her planned press conference Thusday to promote her new album Bignet.net.au says is titled "Britney". A distraught Britney was too upset to talk to the Australian press upon arriving, going straight to her waiting car and headed to the hotel instead. Read more.

September 12, 2001 - The Star reports Britney Spears was real picky during a recent visit to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in Los Angeles. Britney complained one cup of coffee was too cold, one too hot, one too milky... While angry customers waited behind her, the manager let Britney come behind the counter and brew her own cup!

September 11, 2001 - Time.com's Christopher John Farley reviewed the MTV Video Music Awards and gave a huge thumbs down on the performances by *NSYNC and Britney Spears. Read more.

September 11, 2001 - Howard Stern was on this morning with comedian Kathy Griffin talking about Britney Spears MTV Diary episode making fun of her. Howard was troubled by a clip where Britney talks about herself in the 3rd person and he thinks she'll end up like Mariah. Howard also was joking about how Britney talks white to the camera but talks like a black person to boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Stern also thought Britney's family was poor white trash and was amazed how happy her father was just to ride in a NASCAR pace car. As far as her mother, Howard thinks she's just close to Britney for all the money.

September 9, 2001 - Britney Spears will be on with Rosie O'Donnell on Monday. Rosie's other guest on the show is Sarah Ferguson.

September 8, 2001 - Premiere's October issue has an in depth profile of Britney Spears' upcoming movie, tentatively titled What Friends Are For, which is due out early 2002. Read more.

September 8, 2001 - Allpop's Stephanie McGrath wasn't impressed with Britney's performance at the VMAs Thursday saying, "Unfortunately for Spears', 'I'm A Slave 4 U' does not suit her style. The vocals are forced and the Janet Jackson slinkiness is unnatural. If this is supposed to be Spears' next big hit, the song that catapults her into the next stage of her career, it misses the target. The song isn't catchy enough to pelt radio like "Oops" did and isn't grown up enough to help her take the next step."

September 7, 2001 - Following Britney Spears' sexy performance at the Video Music Awards, Jamie Foxx said to Justin and Britney, "You doin' good, boy. Don't work too long now. You better go do something that. I'm catching jungle fever over here. Girl you, go put your top on or something. Give it up for Britney Spears! Hey, come on, man, you better get busy. Anyway, because because i f-u-x. The next guy kisses stranger in the mouth."

September 7, 2001 - The cancelled duet between Michael Jackson and Britney Spears is back on as a deal has been worked out where she'll perform but it won't be part of the televised special. No doubt though the duet will air at some later date outside of the 30 day blackout.

September 7, 2001 - Britney Spears and The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger were interviewed on the red carpet of the Video Music Awards where Mick said he's a fan of Britney, "Of course I am. She did one of our songs didn't she? I have to be a fan." Britney responded jokingly he was saying that because she was sitting right there but added, "That means a lot."

September 7, 2001 - Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson arrived together at the VMAs last night, and while interviewed on the red carpet, Kid said, "We were thinking wile we were having sex -- Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears... They were probably out walking around going, what are we going to wear?"

September 7, 2001 - Staind was on with Howard Stern today and when Aaron Lewis was asked what he thinks about teen pop acts like *NSYNC and Britney Spears, Aaron said he doesn't think that they should get the same recognition as real bands because they don't even write their own songs or play their own instruments. Another band member said it was more of an honor to be on Howard's show than to be on the VMAs.

September 7, 2001 - AP profiled the current state of the music business and hopes that Britney will help revive weaker album sales this year. John Bitzer, editor-director at the online music retailer CDNOW said, "It will do fine, but it won't be a big sensation." Read more.

September 6, 2001 - Conan O'Brien joked on his Wednesday monologue, "The animal rights group PETA -- we've all heard of them -- peta is angry at Britney Spears, because she plans to perform with several wild animals during the MTV Video Music Awards. A spokesperson for PETA said that it's cruel to subject wild animals to lip-synching."

September 5, 2001 - Peoplenews reports the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is criticizing Britney's use of cheetah's for her VMA performance Thursday. A spokeswoman said: "Our main concern would be the noise levels at the show, Cats have keen senses of sound and react to different levels. These cats are probably well trained, but by using them Britney is giving out the message that it's OK to use animals in this way and it isn't."

September 4, 2001 - The Sun reports the animals that will join Britney onstage at the VMAs are cheetahs. The 4 cheetahs will join Britney and 30 dancers on Thursday.

September 4, 2001 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears' VMA performance will include animals on the stage. Salli Frattini, an executive producer of this year's VMAs reveals, "There are animals involved. It's a really elaborate staging that she's been rehearsing for weeks." Read more.

September 3, 2001 - In an abstracts.net poll asking if you think Britney prefers Coke or Pepsi, 63.1% said Pepsi while 36.9% said she'd prefer Coke. There were 1168 total votes cast.

September 3, 2001 - Britney's Diary premiered on Saturday and highlights of the show and people's interpretations of Britney are being discussed on the message board. Of note, Britney did say something to the effect of "I can picture spending the rest of my life with Justin."

September 2, 2001 - Britney Spears tells YM that her and Justin's parents didn't know the two were living together until after the fact. Britney also refused to go into details on the couple's sex life to the magazine saying, "It's personal. The press will ask me things like how far I've gone or what's the worst thing I've done sexually. I'm not going to go there."

September 2, 2001 - A blind item sounding like either Britney or Mariah, the New York Post asks, "Which  persnickety pop queen isn't making any fans in her new East Village apartment building? Since moving into her swank co-op a few months ago, the bubbly diva has refused to even look at her neighbors or tip building staffers who did work on her pricey new digs."

September 2, 2001 - A smug Rav Singh in his weekly News of the World column gloats, "One  of my sad rivals has just announced pop princess Britney Spears is engaged to lover Justin Timberlake. I told you the happy news over a year ago!"

September 2, 2001 - News of the World reports Five singer J slamming Britney Spears saying, "With Britney I'd have to take about 14 pills. I'd also have to take Viagra to make my pecker work even if she was butt naked on the bed."

September 1, 2001 - The Associated Press is reporting 8 high school students have filed suit against Salinas High School for removing pictures of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera with bare midriffs in their yearbook and censoring quotes such as "School is like a lollipop. It sucks until it's gone." Read more.

September 1, 2001 - Peoplenews reports Britney and Madonna are set to go head to head in a battle of the titans with both singers releasing their albums early November. A source told the site, "We expect to see Britney's next album and Madonna's next greatest hits going onto the shelves in early November. Nothing boosts sales like a decent diva feud." Madonna's rep laughed off the talk saying, "We haven't even confirmed that the album is going to be released this year," adding, "There would be no deliberate confrontation."

September 1, 2001 - Peoplenews is reporting Britney's reps aren't sure whether reports her and Justin are engaged as the British rep admitted, "As far as we are aware, these stories are not true. Britney has always said in interviews that she is too young to get married. She and Justin have bought each other matching Cartier rings, but that doesn't mean they are engaged." The American rep said in a 'sounding guilty' huff, "I have no comment at this time, I have no comment at this time!"

September 1, 2001 - The BBC is reporting that the tabloid reports run by the Sun, the Mirror, and the Evening Standard of London and The Star of the US are 'rubbish' according to a spokeswoman for Jive Records.
