March 30, 2002 - Heathy Lee
Roth of the Cleveland Scene profiled the steady ripple through pop culture
that Britney Spears has become, and why all of us care so much about anything
she does. Roth writes, "Lack of any musical knowledge aside, Britney's
doe-eyed 'I didn't ask for all this' Southern charm doesn't allow girls
to just write her off cattily, like the warbling, sleazy Christina Aguilera.
Girls want to like Britney because she seems as if she deserves the fame
and fortune, even though she might be just a prepackaged teenyboppin' mall
tart who sings songs she didn't write. If she's got anything, it's more
staying power than most other young female pop singers. To any rock fan
with tits, that's impressive." Read more.

Tonight's and Access Hollywood's spin (and several other news reports I
saw) on the Britney Spears appearance on Big Breakfast Wednesday morning

Simmons replied, "At the end of the day the only thing that matters is
– of the people, for the people, by the people. If the people like it,

my music'. I’m a big fan of Brittney Spears and *NSYNC and anyone that
does what they do well." Read more.

is'. But losing her virginity means popping the cherry of her entire career.
There's great importance in keeping her a virgin backstage, to maintain
the fantasy of her innocence on stage." Read more.

March 2, 2002 - Britney Spears
haters got their chance to sound off to FoxNews.com's Michael Y. Park.
One of them, Louise Elliott, creator of The Anti Britney Homepage, told
him, "I don't think she's talented. She sings a lot of songs she didn't
write [and] performs dance moves that someone else has told her to do.
She hasn't chosen to be a singer for the music. She's in it for the fame
and for the money." Read more.

Linda McCartney were. Britney explained, "I'm sorry, I'm very young." Meanwhile,
insiders tell Roger that her *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake has a solo
album that is over halfway completed and one insider that has heard some
of it told him, "It's going to be huge." Read more.
March 1, 2002 - The Sun has
a photo feature of the ladies at last night's Grammy awards who have signaled
a return to the popularity of curls not seen since the 80s. Only Jennifer
Lopez seemed to be skipping the trend led by Britney Spears at the Los
Angeles bash. A guest at the show told the Sun, "When Britney walked on
stage people did a double take to check out her long blonde curly hair.
She looked stunning." Another added, "The curls made Britney look her young
age. It is a softer image than she sometimes sports — a girlie, romantic
look." For photos and more on the curl-power, and instructions on curling
your own hair, click here.

March 1, 2002 - MTV's Kurt
Loder has a great rundown of last night's Grammy awards and much of what
he had to say is hard to argue with. Loder said of the Britney Spears -
Matthew Perry banter "Who writes this stuff?" As for the 'Lady Marmalade'
performance: "It was interesting to watch Christina Aguilera dominating
the multi-diva "Lady Marmalade" extravaganza with her soaring voice — and
then watch as Patti LaBelle popped up out of nowhere, in full shriek, and
simply took over." Loder wasn't so kind with Nelly Furtado, who he called
"the irritating Canadian." Read more.

tour next." Read more.

of Hollywood.com spoke with Britney Spears about what she wants from a
man and how well boyfriend Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC delivers on her
needs. Britney said, "A guy doesn't have to do all that for me, as long
as I can just be with the person I love and be intimate with them and have
a good conversation with them." As for Justin? "Oh my goodness, Justin
surprises me all the time with so many things and I've never been in a
relationship like that. He totally fascinates me on that level...He's just
a very cool guy and being in his presence just makes me... I don't want
to go into detail about what he does! [laughing]" Read more.

of the New York Daily News gave his thoughts on the outfits worn by the

was obviously shooting for a Hollywood glamour look with red lipstick,
penciled eyebrows and platinum blond curls. But it came off more Mae West
than Marilyn Monroe." Meanwhile, his thoughts on Spears were: "Britney
Spears sprayed on a bright red dress. With her big blond hair and Chiclets
