September 28, 2002 - In an interview with UK's Sneak magazine, *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake opened up about his split with Britney Spears, though still resisted providing details on what ended their romance. Justin said after reading a magazine feature from March on his split with Spears had triggered huge outburst of pent-up misery. "Two days ago I read this article and it just got me," he recalled. September 27, 2002 - Insiders tell Globe magazine that Alyssa Milano started popping up at the favorite nightspots of Justin Timberlake in what appears to be a successful effort to seduce the *NSYNC star. September 27, 2002 - Britney Spears drag queen Britney Valentine had his dream come true today after meeting Spears in New York City at her restaurant Nyla. Jeff explains, "I followed them towards the bathroom and I gave the bodyguard a pic of me as 'Britney' that I had signed for her. He said he would give it to her when she came out. I said thanks and went back to the bar. Two minutes later I get a tap on my shoulder... It’s Britney herself! She said, 'Is this you?' pointing to the pic of me in costume, 'you look beautiful!!' September 27, 2002 - The Scottish Daily Record chatted with Lou Pearlman who offered his thoughts on Britney Spears taking a break and how he'd like to bring Westlife into his Florida-based boy band boot camp in an effort to crack America. On Britney, Lou commented, "She now feels she has to ask herself what she wants for the rest of her life. Obviously, it's not about money because she has more than enough to last the rest of her life. And money doesn't buy happiness. She has to find herself within and decide on what will make her happy, what the next phase of Britney will be. September 27, 2002 - Searches Britney Spears' little sister are nowhere near the level of interest she enjoys, but with her gig on Nickelodeon's 'All That' and the upcoming Hasbro commercial, look for the search interest to rise. Jamie Lynn Spears had 19,690 searches during the month of August on pay-per search engine Overture.com. Most disturbing about the searches is an interest in nude photos of the 11 year old. September 27, 2002 - Bruce Horovitz of USA Today reports that Britney Spears' little sister is "emerging as another marketing wunderkind in the family mold." Jamie Lynn Spears will make her TV ad campaign debut next week for Hasbro's teen girl-targeted karaoke, the e-kara Pro Headset. "It almost doesn't matter if she can sing or dance," says Michael Wood of Teenage Research Unlimited. "She's Britney's sister." He added, "You have to wonder if this whole thing wasn't calculated." September 27, 2002 - Britney Spears, Nelly, Missy Elliott and other pop stars will be featured in coming weeks in TV spots funded by the world's biggest record labels to educate people about illegal downloading of music, which the music industry blames for a protracted sales slump. "We want to hit fans with the message that downloading music illegally is, as Britney Spears explains in one of the spots, 'the same thing as going into a CD store and stealing the CD,"' said Hilary Rosen, chief executive officer of Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a trade group for the music industry. September 24, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears' partner in her restaurant Nyla, Bobby Ochs, resigned last week, and a lawsuit against Ochs was managed to entangle Britney. Ochs is being sued for $86,000 in back rent by Joseph Z. Morris, the landlord of Ochs' failed former venture Peaches, which he ran with Marla Maples. Spears was served with a subpoena to testify about Ochs' financial stake in Nyla, but didn't show at the deposition last week. Padian fumed, "She didn't show up, so we're moving to hold her in contempt of court. We've located her several times to serve her again, but she's always surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards. We tried to serve her at the Matthew Williamson after-party on Friday night, but she was surrounded by 11 bodyguards. They couldn't get near her." Read more.

Star (aka Troi Torain) promised Justin he would play 'Like I Love You' 30 times in one week if he anwers his question. September 23, 2002 - Jan Tuckwood of the Palm Beach Post discussed the 'poser' word that had local teens up in arms. Tuckwood cited Avril Lavigne as an example saying, "She's 17, lovely as a rose but mouthy, more Morissette than Mouseketeer. She's got a chart-topping CD filled with angst-laden lyrics she wrote, including the No. 1 song Complicated, and right behind that one, Anything but Ordinary, an anthem for the needy nonconformist: 'Somebody save my life/I'd rather be anything but ordinary, please.'" September 22, 2002 - Alec Hanley Bemis of LA Weekly weighed in the the lowered sales of Britney Spears' latest and ill-timed record 'Britney', which came out just weeks after the September 11 terror attacks, which "made her seem even more irrelevant than usual." Bemis said, "Her career wasn't sinking because we wanted a more credible or a more mature Britney -- if there's one thing we Americans can agree upon, it's the universality of supple breasts and thinly veiled soft porn. Problem was, there was no substance behind the spandex. Her lifelong aspirations toward fame -- honed by years on The Mickey Mouse Club -- provided Spears a personality. But there was no person, just a vessel, raised to actualize her parents' affection for shows like Star Search and American Idol. Britney is JonBenet Ramsey, grown up and made good. September 22, 2002 - Star magazine reports Britney Spears was spotted browsing around the Sunday flea market on 6th Avenue and 26th Street in Manhattan for vintage jewelry, but didn't have much cash on her. Britney was only able to buy an $18 butterfly pin from the '60s. A preteen daughter of the vendor asked Spears, "You look a lot like Britney Spears." Britney shrugged, "Oh, everybody tells me that," before walking off.

A source says Spears "wasn't feeling well" and after purging, an assistant helped "put her face back on" before returning to the party. September 14, 2002 - Bill O'Reilly has a column on WorldNetDaily.com about his campaign against Ludacris that got him knocked off Pepsi's latest campaign. September 7, 2002 - Us Weekly reports Britney Spears asked to be kept at a distance from her former *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake at the Video Music Awards last week. An insider says Britney asked the network "to have their seats far from each other." And as we previously reported, Spears left her seat shortly before Timberlake's peformance "because she didn't want MTV to show her on the camera during his performance," according ot the same insider. Later, a spy backstage says that while Britney Spears wished Justin's current gal pal Jenna Dewan "good luck", she "gave her a dirty, bitchy look."

September 7, 2002 - WENN reports Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter has said he would like to date Britney Spears. "Britney is very beautiful," he said. "I'd be crazy to answer 'No'....wouldn't I?"

September 7, 2002 - WorldofBritney.com put together a cool 10 minute video which chronicles Britney Spears before she was the mega-star that she is today. September 6, 2002 - BritneySpears.com reports that Britney Spears is putting together a collectible book and DVD set, due to come out just before her 21st birthday, which is December 2nd, 2002. The book, tentatively titled 'Stages', is filled with new photographs of Britney, captured in private moments with her family and friends – a view her audience rarely gets a chance to see. The accompanying DVD documents Britney’s trip to Mexico City and the dramatic ending. Read more.

September 6, 2002 - Reforma chatted with Britney Spears at the MTV Video Music Awards where she assured fans that she's willing to return to Mexico. "If in my next tour they invite me, sure, I will go," she said. As for the controversies surrounding her last visit, Britney commented, "I hope that they understand me and please don't judge me by the signal it was only for the paparazzi or by the cancellation of the second concert, it wasn't a whim, but necessity." September 6, 2002 - Howard Stern told listeners on his radio show Thursday said they tried to get Jenna Jameson to come on the air to talk about her rumored relationship with Britney Spears, but Jenna refused. Howard reread the story while masturbating and then told everyone that he thinks that because Jenna won't come on the air that it means that she's probably afraid of losing her relationship with Britney. Robin seems to think that it means they're lovers or something like that. Howard said they'll eventually get the story out of Jenna but it might not be until they've broken up.

'American Idol' drops to #11, Avril Lavigne jumps to #13, Eminem holds at #14, Shakira jumps to #20, the VMA's debut at #30, Jennifer Lopez drops a couple to #37, and Nelly drumps three to #43. September 5, 2002 - The Mirror reports that Britney Spears told a German magazine her split from *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was the split from hell. "It was awful, it really threw me off track. He was, after all, my first love," she admitted. Britney worries that she'll have a hard time finding another boyfriend. "The boys are either too shy to talk to me or they just want to use me," she said. "It's difficult to find a guy who loves me. Me the person, not Brit the star." Read more.

September 5, 2002 - Howard Stern talked about the Globe magazine article saying that Britney Spears has been hanging out with porn star Jenna Jameson and she's really into watching lesbian porn movies on his show this morning. September 3, 2002 - WENN reports Britney Spears has responded to Avril Lavigne's promise not to ditch her skateboarder-inspired style in favor of revealing garments that Britney is known for. While Avril promises "I don't go around trying to sell sex like a lot of artists do," Britney said diplomatically, "If Avril Lavigne tried to be like me, she wouldn't do well. September 2, 2002 - Globe magazine reports Britney Spears loves watching lesbian pornographic videos and is a good friend of one of the stars, Jenna Jameson, according to pals. DeLuca admits her "true vocal limitations weren't as fully exposed as her body until she made the error of opening her mouth on that dreadful HBO special last fall." For her credit though, DeLuca said, "Sure, Spears comes across as a vacuous Barbie doll, but she rose to the top not only because her boobs are bigger than Mandy Moore's. Amongst the lows were the outfits worn by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, Michael Jackson's "award", Jennifer Love Hewitt was introduced as "singer and songwriter Jennifer Love Hewitt," Avril Lavigne winning an award, and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's first solo performance. September 1, 2002 - The Independant reports a new survey has confirmed what many parents must have long feared: most children know little or nothing about classical music. 600 six to 14-year-olds were asked by Classic FM magazine to name a classical composer, 65% were unable to proffer a single correct name. Many instead guessed names like Britney Spears, S Club 7, Steps and recent Pop Idol finalists Will Young and Gareth Gates. Read more.

Fox News reports the singer was ushered out of the Radio City Music Hall during Timberlake's performance by her handlers, despite her repeated comments of how she was looking forward to it, precisely because she didn't want to be taped watching Justin on stage dancing with new gal pal Jenna Dewan.
