October 31, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears was spotted entering her London recording studio sporting a white newsboy cap, a big ring on her left ring finger, and a T-shirt with the logo 'Fu**you.com,' which redirects to sexsites.com.

October 31, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears is secretly working with Robbie Williams’ ex songwriting partner Guy Chambers. A friend said, "Guy would never say this but its like 'Two fingers to you Robbie, I’m working with a bigger star'." Britney has made secret visits to Guy’s recording studio in Primrose Hill, North London where they are working on a track called 'Sacred'. The track is set to shock fans with Britney using the F-word in the song. In a track perhaps referring to ex-love Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC, Spears sings, "You let me down — so don't fu**ing say it." Read more.

October 31, 2002 - WENN reports Britney Spears had a run-in with Justin Timberlake's new squeeze Alyssa Milano at West Hollywood Boutique Fred Segal. "The two girls glared at each other. Britney huffed and puffed and tossed her hair back - and then flounced out," a spy revealed. "She must have been bracing herself for the day she would see Alyssa, but she didn't expect it this soon and in this place because Fred Segal is one of Britney's favorite stores. She and Justin used to shop there all of the time."

October 31, 2002 - meems writes "MTV will be airing a Britney special on her fans called 'MTV Fanography: Britney Spears'. It airs this Saturday at 3:30 ET/PT."

October 30, 2002 - The latest Lycos 50 shows Britney Spears' female pop star dominance over rival Christina Aguilera has ended for the first time ever. Christina got the #10 spot while Britney landed at #12, the first time Spears has dropped out of the top 10. Their one word description for Aguilera: 'Ho'. Other music acts in the top 50 include Eminem at #13, Nelly at #22, Las Ketchup at #26, Avril Lavigne at #27, Jennifer Lopez at #30, and Shakira at #42. Read more.

October 30, 2002 - NSYNC star Justin Timberlake tells MTV News that he won't say whether 'Cry Me a River', the second single from his new album 'Justified', is about former girlfriend Britney Spears. "I'm not going to specifically say if any song is about anybody," Timberlake insisted recently in New York. "I will say writing a couple of songs on the record helped me deal with a couple of things. To me songs are songs. They can stem from things that completely happened to you personally or they can stem from ideas that you think could happen to you." Read more.

October 29, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears stuck her tongue out at photographers as she left her West London hotel on Monday, but nearly fell down in the process. October 29, 2002 - 13-year-old Adrienne Lamb shared her experience meeting Britney Spears on Monday in London. Lamb writes, "There was her car there and just 1 other fan outside (who we got friends with) Well we were there only like 20 minutes and we were just talking. Then Britney comes out the hotel and walks over to us! she goes, 'Heya guys! y'all want me to sign summin for u sweetie?' she was so nice. The man at the hotel had told her a few fans were there and she just walked straight over to us, not the car!! we hugged her and spoke to her a little while (like a minute or so). We spoke to her assistant as well and they were just really down to earth and soo nice, definitely not the same Britney the media size her up to be!" Read more.

October 28, 2002 - Britney Spears *NSYNC star Lance Bass are amongst the members of the honorary committee for the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center. Also on the committee are actress Sela Ward, musician Jimmy Buffet, actor Morgan Freeman, author John Grisham, singer Faith Hill, blues legend B.B. King, opera great Leontyne Price, country singer Charley Pride. The center will showcase Mississippi artists in a complex that includes a Hall of Fame, artist-in-residence space and an outdoor amphitheater. The cost has been estimated at $35 million, and it is to be built in Meridian. Read more.

October 28, 2002 - New Scientist magazine reports that dogs relax more and are better behaved listening to the classical music of Bach instead of pop from Britney Spears. Tests on 50 dogs showed they barked most to heavy metal or pop, but classical music calmed them.

October 28, 2002 - The Mirror reports Britney Spears was spotted in the London office of producer and songwriter Guy Stisworth, who is known for having produced Madonna's 'Music 2000' album and co-written 'What It Feels Like For A Girl' as well as his work with Bjork. The 20-year-old Stisworth joins Shep Soloman as those said to be working on Spears' fourth album.

October 27, 2002 - ABC Broadband's Fly Screen has the debut video from The Androids, 'Do It With Madonna'. The video features look-a-likes of Christina Aguilera, Pink, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and of course Madonna. The guys insist above all the pop tarts, they'd rather do it with Madonna. October 27, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears is back in the studio working on her fourth album, and is wanting to cover Yes' hit 'I've Seen All Good People'. "She has done some demos and is seeing if she can put it on a forthcoming album," a spy revealed.

October 27, 2002 - Popbitch.com reports Britney Spears is desperate for William Orbit to produce her fourth album, and her management are trying to engineer a meeting between Britney and William on Monday in London. This likely explains why the singer is currently in England. Seems Spears already has a track for the album, 'Strip', written by Shep Soloman, who wrote S Club's 'Don't Stop Movin''. Britney's team are so excited about it, they're already talking about it as her next single.

October 26, 2002 - Amy C. Sims of Fox News reports that with pop stars now entering their 20s, many are eager to shed their adolescent image. *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and his Backstreet Boys counterpart Nick Carter each are releasing their debut solo albums and are trying to shed the sweet for sultry. "Fourteen-year-olds are over Justin, but women in their 20s now think he's hot," said Atoosa Rubenstein, editor of Cosmo Girl. On the female side, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have each sexed up their images, which may turn off some teens. "As Britney has changed her image, there is a direct correlation with her drop in popularity," said Rubenstein. "Aguilera's new video is one step away from pornography. October 26, 2002 - Avril Lavigne is this week's Entertainment Weekly cover story, where she weighs in on being termed ''the anti-Britney'. "I don't like that term -- 'the anti-Britney.' It's stupid," Lavigne protests. "I don't believe in that. She's a human being. God, leave her alone!" As for her more explicit counterpart, Avril asked, "Have you seen Christina's video?" October 26, 2002 - The spokeswoman for Britney Spears tells The Mirror the singer is in London for some inspiration. "She's technically still on a six-month break but she will be spending a lot of time writing new material and relaxing," her spokeswoman said. "She finds London very inspirational."

October 25, 2002 - Britney Spears arrived at London's Heathrow Airport in London earlier today. Spears' last visit ended amidst controversy when she attended the London screening of 'Crossroads', failing to visit the thousands of fans who had patiently waited for her arrival, and booed her as she walked into the theater. October 25, 2002 - Ted Casablanca of E! Online reports Britney Spears was spotted chowing on a meal of lobster bisque and mahi-mahi at the Palm Restaurant in West Hollywood. Spears was joined by her beefy bod-guard, Big Rob (whom Ted incorrectly refers to as 'Big Rock'), as she gabbed on her cell through most of the lunch. Britney wore a white peasant see-through tank top and jeans, with a white corduroy cap. Big Rob turned down the two fortyish women who approached with autograph requests of the singer, and he also paid the bill.

October 24, 2002 - Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter has again denied that he's dating fellow pop star Britney Spears. "Whatever," Nick told Katrillion.com. "It's not true right now. She's an attractive girl. The press is gonna spark something if they're not careful. I don't know her." Read more.

October 24, 2002 - Globe magazine reports Britney Spears has fallen for George Prescott Bush, the 26-year-old Univercity of Texas law student and nephew of President George W. Bush. The singer saw George P. during a court appearance on CNN for his drug ravaged sister Noelle. Britney at the time gushed to pals, "He could be my very own JFK Jr.!" Britney admired his support of his sister and said that she'd "rarely found anyone who supports family so lovingly and unconditionally." Read more.

October 23, 2002 - TVN Entertainment announced today that it's the exclusive distributor for the Spears pay-per-view concert event, 'Britney Spears in Concert'. The special, filmed November 11, 2000 at London's Wembley Arena, will be available on November 23 at 8 p.m. ET for $19.95 on PPV outlets iN Demand, DirecTV, Echostar, Viewer's Choice Canada, Bell ExpressVU, and Canall Indigo. Note: But will anyone pay $19.95 to see a two year old Britney Spears concert? 

October 23, 2002 - Metal-Sludge.com did a 20 questions with Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Von Erich. The group appeared on Britney Spears movie Crossroads, though Von Erich says they didn't get an opportunity to meet the singer. "We didn't get to meet her," he said. "We actually had the opportunity, but passed and thought we would see her when we shot our scene...she was off that day. I got 800 bucks and the guys all got about 400. They were all pissed." October 22, 2002 - Tanya L. Edwards of MTV News played cupid with some current and former musical couples. Amongst the couples with cupid commentary are Jennifer Lopez and former boyfriend Sean 'P. October 22, 2002 - Carson Daly told viewers on MTV's Total Request Live on Monday that Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter has denied he's dating Britney Spears, as was reported in Us Weekly last week. "I actually spoke with Nick Carter today and he wants to tell everybody out there he is not going out with Britney Spears," Carson said. "In fact, he's only met her like four times. Unfortunately, I think he said he's not going out with her but that's just a rumor and he is excited about the new record which is very, very rock heavy as you see one of his videos."

October 22, 2002 - Allison Kaplan of the Pioneer Press reports Britney Spears, Spider-Man, and Ozzy Osbourne (and daughter Kelly Osbourne) are three hot Halloween costume ideas. Kaplan says, "Britney might be on a break from music, but she's still tops with young girls who are living out their superstar fantasies. October 21, 2002 - Heat magazine spoke with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and carefully broached his ended relationship with Britney Spears. Justin explained, "For the past six months... [Sighs] I've been trying to live my life in a differently. On top of that, I've been very upset about the things that keep being said about me. It went from 'he's this 'goody two shoes'' to 'playboy' as soon as I broke up with Britney." As for why they broke up and the new women he's been linked to, Justin says, "The truth is, we're not together. Why we're not together is our business. Nobody's entitled to it. I wish that things could have been different. As far as the people I've been linked to go - I know Janet, we're good friends, we're not dating. October 21, 2002 - During Justin Timberlake's interview with Teen People, the *NSYNC star was asked for the first time directly if the rumor that Britney Spears had cheated on him with Wade Robson. "Answering that question would not be honoring the answer I gave you for the last question, so I'm not going to say anything specific," he said. In the previous question, he had talked about bumping into Britney and revealing, "I promised her, I would not talk about why we broke up. I'm going to honor that because I do still have so much love in my heart for her." Many would wonder if the rumor wasn't true, then why wouldn't he discredit it for the sake of his longtime friend Wade.

October 21, 2002 - Britney Spears, Alyssa Milano, Mark McGrath, Flea and Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, former Spice Girl Mel C, Heidi Klum, Cindy Margolis, Carson Daly, Brooke Burke, attended the Playstation 2 Party 'East Meets West In The Ultimate Battle Of The Gridiron,' at a private residence on Saturday (October 19) in Beverly Hills, California. Reg admits that since splitting with Spears, he's been unlucky in love. "Whenever I go out with my friends, they always introduce me as the guy who used to date Britney," he sighs. "Girls are really weird about the whole Britney thing. They always say they hate her music and her look and are horrible about her. I guess they get jealous. I always stick up for her." October 19, 2002 - Britney Spears' official website reports that the singer will be recognized with the Children's Choice Award on November 4th in Los Angeles, for her commitment and dedication to children’s causes through the Britney Spears Foundation and other endeavors. Britney also raised over $1 million throughout last year’s Dream Within A Dream tour for the children of the victims of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

October 16, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears was spotted getting her fake nails painted in "Neon Orange" at Lily's Nail Salon on West 56th Street.

October 16, 2002 - The Dees Sleaze update on Monday went into detail on the lesbian sex tape involving what Rick Dees calls look-a-likes for Britney Spears and Anna Kournikova. Rick says there is an entire industry for actresses transforming themselves to be look-a-likes. October 16, 2002 - While early reports suggested that Britney Spears would be at the birthday celebration for Usher at the Highlands in Hollywood on Monday (October 14), it doesn't appear she made the engagement. October 16, 2002 - WENN reports Britney Spears has been terrifying her security guards by sneaking out without notice. "This time is so important for me - to be able to pump my own gas and not have people do that for me," she said. "It's like, 'No, you don't have to go get me a Starbucks. Let me just go get it myself. I sneak out of my hotel room all the time just to get that kind of freedom. I go to my brother's apartment and hang out with his guy friends."

October 15, 2002 - The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports Texas Tech's starting quarterback Kliff Kingsbury has a message from Britney Spears, which her bus driver, an avid football fan, obtained for him. Britney's autographed photo says, "Kliff, make room for the Heisman next year. Love, Britney." Kingsbury says it is his personal motivation to excell this year. "The autograph is on my wall. October 15, 2002 - Veteran rocker Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac has criticized Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera for their skimpy stage outfits. WENN reports Nicks saying, "Their jeans are too low, their tops are too see-through. Personally, I think sexy is keeping yourself mysterious. Otherwise, it's, like, if you see somebody running naked down the street everyday - you stop looking."

October 15, 2002 - Syndicated columnist Dave Barry wrote a while back that many young people do not read newspapers, and seem to be more interested in Britney Spears than the Middle East. Debbie Title, a teacher at Crestview Middle School in Ellisville, Mo got her students to respond. One student wrote, "Most kids don't talk about Britney Spears. If she did a nude photo shoot we would, but that won't happen for a while." Another student wrote, "Why do young people read newspapers? Two words: not Britney Spears." Read more.

October 13, 2002 - Lil' Kim took a bit of a stab at Britney Spears in her interview with Jancee Dunn of Rolling Stone magazine in her interview for their Women in Rock issue. Asked if female pop stars try to be role models for young girls, Lil' Kim responded, "See, I wouldn't say that they should try and be, because nobody's perfect. Me, I never proclaimed myself to be a role model, but I know that I am. I have to deal with it, so I have to be careful. Point blank. That's the hard part . . . being careful. October 12, 2002 - Launch.com reports Britney Spears, Mya, DJ Quik, and the Wayans Brothers have already RSVP'd to Usher's 24th birthday party in Los Angeles on Monday (October 24) at the Highlands. October 12, 2002 - Jamie Lynn Spears tells John Rogers of the Associated Press that she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her sister Britney Spears. October 11, 2002 - Rolling Stone magazine caught up with Britney Spears in one of her more frank discussions. Asked whether walking off stage in Mexico had made her break more of a big deal, Britney said, "I think it's that, and my relationship with Justin, and everything combined. And the Globe saying I'm a lesbian." Pressed on the lesbian issue, Britney said, "They said I have an obsession with sex tapes. And that probably the reason I am taking a break is because I can't deal with that and being a lesbian. Whatever!" Read more.

October 11, 2002 - Star magazine reports Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn Spears gets unhappy when someone tries to take away her Starbucks Frappuccinos. While sitting on the makeup chair to of Nickelodeon's 'All That', Mini B was having a hard time staying still while holding "a huge Frappuccino loaded with whipped cream," snitched an insider. Jamie Lynn wouldn't listen when the makeup artist told her to sit still, so she nicely took little Spears' drink away. "The makeup artist finally told Jamie Lynn that the quieter she remained, the quicker she'd get her drink back. You should have seen her sitting as still as a statue." Many parents might wonder why an 11-year-old is drinking coffee drinks anyways, as Eileen Nechas explains.

October 11, 2002 - A website is claiming to have obtained a sex tape featuring Britney Spears and Anna Kournikova having lesbian sex. The site's ad teases, "You see, both Anna and Britney's people suspected there might have been a video made some time ago from their little 'get together.' But neither camp had any idea who had it or what had become of it. So, under the highest form of secrecy, the propaganda machine got ready to roll just in case the tape was released to the media. Nobody really knew what happened in that hotel room (except for Brit and Anna); their people just knew that no one else must ever find out." October 11, 2002 - blue_skies_1021 writes "Wondering why you havent seen any Pepsi commercials with Britney lately but you've seen plenty of Shakira? Well Britney Spears was recently dropped from Pepsi. After the incident in Mexico City, Pepsi decided they'd had enough of Ms. Spears' recent behavior. Now they're concentrating on Shakira, they think she fresh and new (eventhough shes been in the business since she was 13). They did it very quietly so Britney fans wouldnt get mad and start a boycott. "

October 10, 2002 - Star magazine quotes Britney Spears giving her picks for the hottest hotties saying, "Heath Ledger and Brad Pitt. They don't try - they just exude sexuality. They just stand there and don't have to say anything."

October 10, 2002 - Jennifer Love Hewitt has commented on her Jive Records bandmates *NSYNC and Britney Spears to Launch.com. "I've only met Britney a couple of times and that was completely separate from, you now, me really being on Jive that much," she said. "Justin from *NSYNC and all the *NSYNC guys I've known for a while since I was really young. And, you know, they would sit behind me and pull on my ponytail and sit behind me at award shows. And so, you know, they're friends, and I think a lot of them. And the *NSYNC guys have been super supportive of my musical stuff."

October 10, 2002 - Perhaps the biggest news during Justin Timberlake's interview with Scott Mills of Radio 1 earlier today was his reaction to a listener question asking "Is Wade cool?" The DJ said, "You worked with him on 'Celebrity' but not this album. "No no, We don't work together anymore. He's cool," responded Timberlake. The word "anymore" is pretty heavy, suggesting something went down. We've heard rumors, specifically from WorldofBritney.com webmaster Ruben, that in the past that it was a Britney Spears' sex fling with Wade Robson in the back of a limo that led to the longtime couple's split, and this seems to reinforce that suggestion.

October 10, 2002 - WENN reports diners at Britney Spears' restaurant were horrified when a customer was stabbed in front of them. A diner at the restaurant in the Dylan Hotel attacked Marc Zucc, 24, with a knife in the back earlier this week. Zucc was treated in hospital, but later released.

October 10, 2002 - Lynne Spears checked in with fans on her daughter Britney Spears' official website on Wednesday. Lynne said, "Britney will be in New York a lot this fall. She is recording now. She is in no hurry and is able to enjoy the process more than her fast-paced schedule allowed before. There are several songwriters and producers she is planning to work with. Brit will also be working on her New York apartment, trying to put everything together. It’s nice to know that I don’t have to do any of the legwork for this particular project – she’s doing it all herself. It should be decorated completely including a Christmas tree by the time I see it. We shall see!" Read more.

October 9, 2002 - The Sun reports *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake hasn't ruled out a reconciliation with Britney Spears, but he won't rush into and says Spears "knows why this is happening." Justin says, "I have no idea what the future holds. Britney is a wonderful, wonderful person. But I have issues, she has issues, what person doesn’t have issues? If she says that she’s confused about what happened, I can’t honestly say that would be true. Maybe the things that happened between Britney and me could change. October 9, 2002 - Perhaps thanks to ad help from Britney Spears and Shakira, PepsiCo saw its fiscal third-quarter earnings were not only were 55% better than last year's profits, but also beat Wall Street's forecast by a penny a share. The stock jumped 14.9% to $41.10 as investors celebrated the improved results at most of the company's divisions. Read more.

October 9, 2002 - Hits Daily Double reports NBC will air a primetime, all-star television special on Elvis Presley, titled 'Elvis Lives'. The hour-long special, to air in late November or December, will celebrate Presley’s legacy with commentary and performances by today’s top entertainment superstars, including Bono, Tom Petty, Sheryl Crow, No Doubt, Dave Matthews and Britney Spears. Other celebrities slated to appear include Chuck D, Denis Leary, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Steven Tyler and Dennis Hopper, with more to be announced in the near future.

October 8, 2002 - Stars2ya.com has photos of Britney Spears shopping at Patricia Fields in Soho on a big sale day Saturday (October 5). What sharp eyes might notice is a CD with hand-written lettering on in. Spears has just finished doing a commercial for the record industry stating, "Would you go into a CD store and steal a CD? October 8, 2002 - After the documents filed by health inspectors against Britney Spears restaurant Nyla, citing "swollen, leaking, rusted" tomato cans leaked onto the Smoking Gun website, a spokesman for the restaurant says everything has been cleared up. "Obviously everything was taken care of, and operations are running smoothly," the spokesman told the New York Post.

October 8, 2002 - Britney Spears' former partner at Nyla, Bobby Ochs, is breaking his silence since leaving the restaurant to New York Magazine. He tells Marc S. Malkin that Nyla's shortcomings have "nothing to do with me," citing the place was already $350,000 over budget on opening day and says he was told that on a recent night, Nyla did only $1,900 in business. A rep for Nyla countered the establishment got off to a bad start because of "mismanagement by Bobby, but the restaurant is getting back on its feet." Read more.

October 8, 2002 - The Smoking Gun website has obtained documents showing Britney Spears' restaurant Nyla has been cited by the New York City Department of Health for twice violating guidelines prohibiting "swollen, leaking, rusted, severely rusted" canned food." October 7, 2002 - Nancy Arcayna of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin chatted with local belly dancer Shadiya about the resurgence of the art thanks to Shakira and Britney Spears. Shadiya thinks that pop idol Shakira provides a great influence. "She is half Lebanese, and that is downplayed in the media," she said. Britney Spears also does a bit of belly dancing, which brings it into the mainstream, she added. As for those that object to the sensuality of the dance? That's impossible because art reflects all aspects of life," Shadiya said. "It's a positive expression for women, who can express both creativity and femininity." Read more.

October 7, 2002 - Britney Spears official label site at Britney.com reports, "The rumors about Britney's next movie are true. Britney is going to star in a NASCAR film, set to begin shooting early 2003. The movie will be a realistic portrayal of life in NASCAR, filmed on location with real races and drivers. The characters and script are coming together now, but it is confirmed that Britney will play the daughter of a NASCAR veteran who is considering a return to racing. NASCAR chose Britney because she embodies the All-American Southern girl. We can't wait...vroom, vroom!"

October 7, 2002 - Britney Spears is beginning the process of refashioning herself for a new career during her time off, say industry types to the New York Times. Donatella Versace, who did a makeover for the singer during a recent appearance in Milan commented, "She understands that she has to change. We had a long discussion about it." Craig Marks, editor of Blender magazine added, "She needs to come back with a new second act." She'll get a good idea what she's up against when new albums from *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and rival Christina Aguilera come out. "How Justin and Christina do will be an indicator of what Britney faces," added Marks. Read more.

October 7, 2002 - WENN reports *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake still misses former girlfriend Britney Spears' "big heart". Justin admits, "I've made mistakes. Thinking that something was what it wasn't, I just feel like I've made mistakes. I'm really not in a very romantic mood at the moment. Days will go by when I miss the good things. Britney has always surprised me with the size of her heart. She has a big heart, a really big heart. That's always impressed me about her."

October 7, 2002 - The New York Post reports management at Britney Spears' Nyla restaurant laid off at least five members of the staff. "We worked all day, and then they told a group of us we were not employed anymore," said Jodie Wasserman. "I am a stand-up comedian and can't pay my rent. They gave us no notice and only said they were having money problems." A rep at the restaurant responded, "There was a change in management and staff because they were not happy with the people Bobby Ochs brought in. Everything is great."

October 6, 2002 - Matt Damon hosted Saturday Night Live last night and decided to create the Us Weekly story that claimed Britney Spears had an angry dance off with former boyfriend Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC. October 4, 2002 - Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times reports a source who's very connected in the music business does confirm seeing Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter ''at a couple of [music] industry parties. ...I really don't think there's anything serious going on there, but who knows? I thought that rumor about J. Lo and Ben [Affleck] was just hype.'' This on top of reports in Us Weekly suggesting the pair ''met up at a few places in Los Angeles and New York'' recently--including a L.A. dinner date that ended at Spears' home.

October 4, 2002 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca chatted with 'Hairspray' star Harvey Fierstein (playing Edna Turnblad) after the Broadway star met Britney Spears during a recent showing. Asked who Britney was dating, Fierstein said, "What do I know from this girl? She was with her mother and her sister. She just stood there and had nothing to say, other than, 'I guess I've taken up enough of your time.' You got that right, babe! I mean, what am I gonna say to her [pronounced huh]? 'Stop embarrassing your mother, already?'"

October 3, 2002 - Conan O'Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Wednesday, "It was reported today that Britney Spears, who used to go out with a member of *NSYNC, is now dating one of the Backstreet Boys. Yeah. Yeah, when asked about it, Britney said, 'Everyone has a certain type, and my type is gay men.' That's what she said."

October 2, 2002 - Us Weekly is reporting that Britney Spears has been dating Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter recently following her breakup to rival boy band star Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC. Some are reporting the two have "met up at a few places" in both Los Angeles and New York, though reps for both singers deny the claim.

October 2, 2002 - Britney Spears tells Reuters she plans to return to the recording studio after a break hosted by Italian designer Donatella Versace in Milan. "I think I may just go to Los Angeles and record a little bit. But other than that I just plan to hang out," Spears told Reuters before taking her seat in the front row of Versace's spring/summer 2003 fashion show. Read more.

October 2, 2002 - Kelly Osbourne tells The Cairns Post that she sympathized with Britney Spears need to flip off photographers while in Mexico. October 1, 2002 - The New York Post reports children at the Ronald McDonald House in New York City got a special treat when Britney Spears stopped by on Friday, but when 60 kids and their parents were on hand instead of the scheduled six to ten young cancer patients, the singer departed before posing for pictures with all the children and talking to them. "She left and they were crying," said one volunteer. "You can't do that to sick children. They're not well, and she made it even worse." Britney's spokeswoman explained, "She did the best that she could. She went there with the best of intentions... The kids had a fantastic time. They invited her back." Read more.

October 1, 2002 - Access Hollywood was on hand when Britney Spears accepted a $20,000 donation to her foundation from Hasbro and helped her little sister Jamie Lynn celebrate the premiere of her very first television commercial in the process.
