November 30, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears has once again admitted to fancying British actor Hugh Grant. "He’s so cute," Britney said on Monday. "I think he’s the hottest thing in the world." November 29, 2002 - WENN reports Frankie Brittl, 10, of Sun City, California, was in desperately in need of a lobe transplant in his lung this summer when the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his longtime dream to meet Britney Spears. "When I met her, I really wanted to give her a present, so I gave her a locket," Brittl said. "After I met her we saw her concert - it was a blast! But the best part was when she saw me. She came over to the side of the stage where I was sitting and waved to me. Then I saw that she was wearing the locket I gave her. I was speechless - I never thought she'd wear it during the concert. It was the best day of my life." He added, "I know in my heart that meeting Britney made me feel better and strong enough to have my transplant."

November 28, 2002 - The New York Post spoke with Britney Spears' lawyer Michael Friedman about how the singer has washed her hands of Nyla in the face of creditors that are going after her for unpaid bills from the restaurant. "It's completely absurd and exploitive," Friedman said. "She clearly doesn't have any personal responsibility for the restaurant's debts. To drag Britney into this is completely baseless and a misuse of the judicial process. They're obviously trying to exploit her celebrity." He added, "She never put any money in and has never taken any out. She's very disappointed with the way things were handled, but ultimately she had no choice but to withdraw." Read more.

November 27, 2002 - NSYNC star Justin Timberlake phoned into MTV's Total Request Live on Tuesday to premiere his new video 'Cry Me A River'. Carson quizzed Timberlake about the concept and whether it was about former girlfriend Britney Spears. Justin says it's about him adding, "I figured hey if you want to speculate what the song is about I may as well give you something else to talk about." Carson never asked him about his broken foot and how he's progressing getting that healed. Read on for a rough transcript.

November 27, 2002 - The Los Angeles Times reports Britney Spears has severed all ties to her New York restaurant, Nyla, saying that it suffers from mismanagement. In a written statement, Spears says she had no involvement in the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, which opened in June of last year. Read more.

November 26, 2002 - To Reed Tucker, restaurant writer for Time Out New York, the new Nyla is not unlike the old Nyla--"another bad Midtown New York restaurant that just [happens] to be owned by Britney Spears." Tucker tells E! Online the restaurant was D.O.A. from the start. "To me, it didn't seem to be able to decide what it wanted to be," Tucker says. Read more.

November 26, 2002 - DiVa4LiFe writes "First, it was her dented cans. Now Britney Spears, novice restaurateur, has to contend with a legal bid to force her five-month-old eatery Nyla into bankruptcy over thousands in unpaid bills. Check out the involuntary petition here."

November 25, 2002 - Us Weekly reports Britney Spears is unhappy with the recent actions of *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, referencing the 'Horrible Woman' song on '20/20' and the Details mag interview that called her decision to do 'Crossroads' basically clueless. A friend of the Spears family says his comments are "a further source of irritation" and attributed it to the fact that "his album isn't doing as well as expected and he said everything about Britney's personal life [to drive sales], he's now attacking her professionally." Timberlake's rep countered, "We, of course, are relishing in the extraordinary success of 'Justified'."

November 25, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears has decided to turn her watered-down Louisiana gumbo eatery, Nyla, into an Italian restaraunt. "Britney said she wanted the best, so we hired Larry Forgione," said Morris Moinian, owner of the Dylan Hotel which houses Nyla. "The new cuisine will be continental with an Italian flavor."

November 25, 2002 - The Advocate reports Britney Spears was on hand at to watch Louisiana State University's football team just beat Ole Miss 14-13 in Baton Rouge. Spears watched the game in the press box and was the recipient of frantic waves from several fans. The singer was on hand in part to watch her cousin and best friend Laura Lynn Covington.

November 24, 2002 - Popdirt.com's latest poll asks which pop star was most worthy of being in the Rolling Stone 'Women In Rock' feature, or least worthy of being trashed by Joan Jett for being in it. Vote for Britney here.

November 24, 2002 - Cindy Adams of the New York Post reports Britney Spears' Pinkey Enterprises, the LLC behind Nyla, is being sued in U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, by Dairyland USA Corp., Ocean Clear, Inc., and Sam Tell & Son Inc. The plaintiff's say Spears' entity is "a defunct entity which cannot pay its debts." They add the restaurant "undercapitalized with the intent of avoiding obligations bound to arise as a result of its operations." Read more.

November 24, 2002 - A letter by Joan Jett was written to Rolling Stone after their 'Women in Rock' issue was published, but was not printed by their editors... November 23, 2002 - Launch.com reports Britney Spears and U2 frontman Bono recently created handmade pieces of art in Dublin, Ireland to benefit Icross, an organization that works to provide home care for AIDS orphans in east Africa. Spears used a tube of glue and some glitter to make a beach scene on Wednesday (November 20); while U2's frontman drew a mermaid, perhaps having the video for the band's current single, 'Electrical Storm' on his mind. November 21, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears has made a desparate bid to rekindle her relationship with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. November 21, 2002 - The London Mail reports Darius Danesh's desire to meet Britney Spears went horribly wrong. The Pop Idol assumed she'd know who he was when he invited himself into her recording studio. Britney was furious and stormed out.

November 20, 2002 - Popdirt.com's latest poll asking if you think Britney Spears and Hugh Grant would make a good couple had an overwealming response of no. 85.5% of you say no, while 14.5% say the pair would be good for each other.

November 18, 2002 - Kelly Osbourne tells Mary Huhn of the New York Post that none of the songs on her debut 'Shut Up!' are about love. "The songs might have the word 'boy' or the word 'crush' in it but none of my songs are about that," she says. Kelly says love songs are "ridiculous," explaining, "If you're Britney Spears or some 2-year-old pop singer, oh please, f-- off." But in general, she adds, "I'm not a sappy-song kind of person." November 17, 2002 - In Touch magazine reports that during Britney Spears recent visit to London, the singer was holed up in the posh Mandarin Oriental hotel, where she ordered movies from a local video store, and asked her assistant for knitting needles, some wool, and a pattern to knit a scarf. November 16, 2002 - Us Weekly reports Britney Spears and her pals are "pissed" over *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's recent '20/20' appearance. "He was cocky when he said 'Sure, sure.' He owes the Spears family more respect and loyalty," a source fumed. "He loved her for four years." The night of the interview was especially painful as "at the time he was exploiting what he had with Britney to sell albums, she was accepting an award [in Los Angeles] for a children's charity." As for the Timberlake song 'Horrible Woman' which was implied to be about Britney, "It was written two years ago, before they had any problems."

November 16, 2002 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports Britney Spears was on the track at the Richard Petty Driving Experience on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval on Wednesday where she topped out at 118 MPH. Spears will play the daughter of a successful, modern-day NASCAR team owner in her next movie. November 15, 2002 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC reports after news of Britney Spears and Hugh Grant teaming to do voiceovers on the animated Christmas cartoon, 'Robbie The Reindeer,' gossipers are wondering if the pair who have admitted crushes on each other will seek to meet. "Normally, people doing voiceovers don’t always meet, but maybe they’ll make an exception," says an insider. "She has said he’s cute and he has said he finds her attractive — though he thinks her legs are too muscular from exercising. However maybe he’ll be willing to forgive that flaw."

November 13, 2002 - Teen People's interview with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake has been posted on their website, as well as a trivia quiz, photo gallery, polls, and more. When Justin addressed the allegation that Britney Spears cheated on him with Wade Robson, he said, "Answering that question would not be honoring the answer I gave you for the last question. So I'm not going to say anything specific." They asked Wade to comment as well. "There are no problems between Justin and me. I wish him only the best," Robson said. Read more.

November 13, 2002 - Actor comedian Robin Williams was on MTV's Total Request Live on Tuesday where he was asked by Carson Daly if he would like to work with Britney Spears. "Britney Spears, I'm a virgin! Yeah! Michael Jackson is a father move move on," Robin said, acting crazy. "Virgin! Virgin! Ahhhh! Bad virgin! Virgin! Okay."

November 13, 2002 - Britney Spears leap-frogged back over Christina Aguilera in the Lycos 50 this week, jumping 5 spots to #10, while Aguilera slipped two to #11. Read more.

November 12, 2002 - CKY singer Deron Miller took part in a 20 questions segment with Metal-Sludge.com in a remarkably candid interview. Miller seemed to have knowledge in every genre of music, even pop acts like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, whom he shared his opinions of. Miller rated Britney a 9 saying, "Looks great on TV, but I need to see her in person so I can tell what she really looks like. Seeing Gwen Stefani in person took her from an 8 to a 4. I'm sure Britney's a solid 9." As for Aguilera, Miller rated her a 2 and blasted, "Our road manager toured with her and gave us some horror stories. November 12, 2002 - In the new issue of Details magazine, *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake reveals what he thought about Britney Spears' movie 'Crossroads'. "I told Britney I thought she did a good job, but someone over there didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the material," Timberlake said. "If she had a clue, she wouldn't have made that movie, don't you think? I mean, everybody knows that what she should have made was [a movie like] 'Pretty in Pink.'" Read more.

November 10, 2002 - Lynne Spears posted a new message on her daughter's downtime on Britney Spears' official website Friday. Lynne writes, "Britney’s had the best time while on her break. She was a little restless at first, which is natural after going at such a fast pace for so long. But now she’s gotten “into the groove” of her time off. It’s great for me because I get to see more of her than usual. She spends her time in New York, Los Angeles, and here in Kentwood -- roller blading, going to see movies, and visiting friends and family. She also spent a week in London recently, to begin the recording process. She’s very excited about the next album, because she’s been writing some great new songs and is going to be collaborating with new producers that she’s wanted to work with for a long time." November 9, 2002 - In the December 2002 issue of FHM, Britney Spears is #1 on the list of The Top 20 Sexiest Lingerie Moments of All Time. The magazine comments, "When Britney finally sheds her clothes to reveal a heartbreakingly skimpy lingerie/G-string emsemble for a sexed-up version of 'Oops! ... I Did It Again', the whole teenage girl-next-door thing goes out the window and the news becomes official: Britney is a woman! Which is just a polite way of saying 'She's fair game,' or 'Thank you, dear Lord, for answering our most heartfelt prayers.'"

November 8, 2002 - The Mirror reports Britney Spears sent a $100 bill with a a note attached saying, "Perhaps I didn't tip you enough" after she went to the Four Seasons health club in New York which led to a loose-lipped employee telling the New York Post that her carpet doesn't match her blonde drapes.

November 7, 2002 - Britney Spears late last year formed the Britney Spears Foundation to "raise funds to benefit various and diverse charitable causes." According to her group's inaugural tax return--which was just filed and covers the final quarter of 2001--Spears personally gave her group $500,000, while raising another $365,654 earmarked for the Twin Towers Fund, a charity benefiting the families of cops and firemen killed on September 11. November 7, 2002 - Jim Brachman of Brachman.com shared his furious reaction to *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's interview with Barbara Walters on Monday's 20/20. Brachman writes, "The utterly inept Barbara Walters, who resembles an ancient Egyptian artifact sans benefit of bandages and whose strange voice is only slightly less annoying than a busy signal, allowed Justin Timberlake to tell what was a hopelessly preposterous account of his breakup with Britney Spears. Perhaps Walters was both desperate for ratings and desperately angry with Britney for giving the infinitely more dignified and cerebral Oprah Winfrey the interview that Walters begged for." November 7, 2002 - Wednesday's Lycos 50 feature asks "Is the Britney era over?" after the singer has dropped to the #15 spot on the search query list, the lowest she's been excluding the immediate post 9-11 period and behind rival Christina Aguilera, currently at #9. Still, in the past month, her searches have actually risen in total. Aaron Schatz writes, "After Christmas, when the holiday searches are gone, Britney may be back in the top ten. But she certainly is no longer at quite the level of popularity she has enjoyed for the past three years. Maybe she should try getting naked -- hey, it's working for Christina." Read more.

November 7, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears is set to star in an action-packed children’s cable TV cartoon show as an animated character, which will air next summer on The Disney Channel. "Plans are in their early stages but Britney is really excited about it," a source revealed. "Having your own cartoon show is the ultimate status symbol."

November 6, 2002 - Conan O'Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Tuesday, "I got to mention this big, big Hollywood dish, big celebrity dish. The other day, Justin Timberlake told a deejay on a New York radio station that Britney Spears isn't a virgin anymore because he had sex with her while they were going out. That's what he said. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, Timberlake says it wasn't a big deal to him because he also deflowered all the guys in *NSYNC. [Laughter] He said it really wasn't a big deal. That's true."

November 6, 2002 - Globe magazine reports Britney Spears recently tried to exit the Beverly Center in Los Angeles but only had $1 to pay the required $2 fee. She tried to smile her way out of it, but the stern cashier just stood there with her hand opened. Britney dug around for change but to no avail. Finally, the lady sighed, "All right, I'll let you slide this time." Britney thanked her by returning later with $2.

November 6, 2002 - Britney Spears tells MTV News that she's currently working on her fourth album. "I've been in the studio for a while," Spears revealed at the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund's annual Bogart Tour for a Cure event on Monday. "I've written plenty of stuff. It's really cool, really good." As for who specifically Spears is working with, she's tight-lipped. "I can't tell you, then it won't be cool when it comes out," Spears said. "There has been a couple [producers] overseas." November 5, 2002 - Chauncé Hayden of Steppin' Out magazine caught up with Beetle Juice, who claims he has had sex with Britney Spears. The Howard Stern act said of Britney, "She's got her own songs. She writes her own sh**. I don't have nothing against her. She thinks for herself and she's got all the TVs and shows. I banged her." He added, "I banged her before. I had sex with her in '68 or '69." Beetle Juice was born in 1968 and then admitted to his lie, "She's a virgin. I could have banged her in '68." Of course Britney didn't even exist until 1981.

November 4, 2002 - The New York Post previewed *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's hour-long interview tonight with Barbara Walters on 20/20, where he performs the song 'Horrible Woman' - apparently targetting ex-girlfriend Britney Spears. In the song, Justin sings, "So, you had your chance to be my lover. I guess you needed something more undercover. And you know that ain't cool. So let's skip the drama, call your momma and tell her she better just come get you 'cause frankly, baby, you ain't worth the gas in my BMW." Read more.

November 4, 2002 - The Sunday Mirror reports that after being cited for having rusty cans and not displaying the Food Protection Certificate, Britney Spears' restaurant Nyla is now accused of 'contaminating' the Johnnie Walker whisky with fruit. Bailiffs are said to be furious they can't issue a summons, and lawyers are threatening to hold the restaurant in contempt of court.

November 3, 2002 - Tina Fey reported during the Saturday Night Live Weekend Update last night, "A tabloid reported that Britney Spears' New York restaurant Nyla is in trouble and may close after four months. In happier news, Christina Aguilera's Filthy Hot Dog Wagon is going strong."

November 3, 2002 - Entertainment writers are debating the longevity of Britney Spears to Rachel Leibrock of Scripps-McClatchy Western Service. Entertainment Weekly music writer David Browne commented, "Now that the teen-pop boom has peaked, Britney has peaked along with it. The kind of music that her fans are listening to now is different. They want something that's harder. They want a rocker-chick type like Avril Lavigne or Pink - however calculated their images might be." Patty Adams, senior entertainment editor at YM magazine countered, "You can never count Britney Spears out - she's sold millions of albums, and she's already (started) to reinvent herself." November 2, 2002 - Katrillion caught up with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake and asked the singer whether his 'Justified' single 'Never Again' is about his breakup with Britney Spears. "There was no particular song where I could, where I would say that somebody particular was in mind," Justin said. "When I write a song... it's just kind of written about how I guess I would have felt from that perspective... I think half of the album does come from personal experience but the other half is completely fantasized, made up. Maybe I was living in a matrix, I don't know." Read more.

November 2, 2002 - People magazine spoke with Bobbye Timberlake, grandmother of *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, ahead of the release of his debut solo album 'Justified'. Bobbye talked about his debut performance at the MTV Video Music Awards gushing, "When it was over, we started screaming, crying and hugging. We've seen him dance all his life, but we'd never seen him dance like that." As for his much publicized breakup with Britney Spears, Bobbye says everyone is asking her why they split up. November 2, 2002 - Globe magazine has more details on Britney Spears being banned from appearing on '60 Minutes' over objections from veteran newsman Mike Wallace. In response to his promise to quit if the pop singer appeared during a recent NPR interview, an insider said, "Mike knows that '60 Minutes' is his last hurrah and it burns him that younger viewers don't get what it's all about and are tuning out. November 2, 2002 - Internet-Magazine.com reports Jenna Jameson's lawyer Gary Crandell is taking legal action to halt a promotional scheme that suggests Jenna had a lesbian relationship with Britney Spears. Crandell sent a cease and desist letter to Wendy Walls of MyFindIt.com, asking her to cease to "to publish false and injurious statements of and concerning Jenna Jameson and Brittany Spears (sic)." November 2, 2002 - WENN reports Shania Twain thinks Britney Spears has been given a rough ride by the media. "Britney's a really sweet kid but things can get rough in this business. Sometimes it can be really hard," Twain said. "I was lucky. It didn't happen to me until I was an adult. I was in my twenties when I got my first record deal and almost 30 when things went really wild. I knew right from the start that I didn't want to be part of the circus that goes with this business. November 1, 2002 - NSYNC star Justin Timberlake tells Jane magazine that he's handy with his putter. "Golf is a sex game," he said. "The goal is to get the ball in the hole." Justin also admits to being a butt man. "I like the way the small of a woman's back forms a nice onion," he said. And on the subject of him blabbing about going down on former galpal Britney Spears to Hot 97: "In no way did I intend to hurt her," by kiss-and-telling on the radio.

November 1, 2002 - The Sun reports Britney Spears restaurant Nyla is about to shut down after only four months in business, according to sources. "Nyla is days away from closing. There has been just one problem after another," said a source. "Britney didn’t put a penny into the restaurant, she just lent her name to it. Having said that, her image is very important. Her pride will be a little dented."

November 1, 2002 - MTV News caught up with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of the Neptunes and asked them whether they'd be working on Britney Spears' fourth album.
