December 31, 2002 - The New York Post reports that rumor has it Britney Spears has bought a house from Bruce Willis, whose three daughters live in Sun Valley year-round with Demi Moore.

December 31, 2002 - Prime Minister Tony Blair's chief press secretary, Alastair Campbell, tells Dominic Mohan of The Sun that he has switched his allegiance from Britney Spears to Ms Dynamite. Over dinner at London’s posh Café Royal he asked the gossip guru, "Dominic, is it really all going wrong for Britney? It’s not all over, is it?" December 30, 2002 - The New York Post reports Britney Spears has been partying up a storm during her vacation. "She has gone out every single night since she said she was taking a break six months ago," one New York club man said. "She's always at clubs drinking and dancing." December 30, 2002 - The Clarion Ledger reports that contrary to rumors, Britney Spears is not dating Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning. A spokesman for the singer told ESPN reporters there was no relationship between the two. Both are natives of South Louisiana, and Britney had attended the Rebels' game at LSU last month and reportedly got Manning's autograph for her tour bus driver. The driver was said to be an Ole Miss fan.

December 27, 2002 - NSYNC star Justin Timberlake tells Vibe magazine that his love for Britney Spears blinded him from what she did that eventually led to their breakup. "I feel I became so consumed with her that I didn't see some things that I should have seen," he says. "I don't feel like I'm saying too much by saying she knows why this happened. Britney's a fire sign, a Sagittarius, and they do things on a whim. I love her; we have a lot of history, and she's the closest anybody ever got to me." Read more.

We were about to sue her, and now she will be sued."

December 25, 2002 - *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake commented on  last week's Us magazine's cover story had a headline that read 'Britney vs. Justin, The War Is On,' with shot-by-shot references of the clip inside -- Timberlake isn't talking. "I laugh at Us magazine," he tells the Toronto Sun. "It's so all wrong. I'm not going to speak on the video. Everytime I speak on something, it gets misinterpreted the wrong way. December 25, 2002 - Star magazine reports Britney Spears approached a delivery truck driver dropping off copies of Star at a large drugstore on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Britney wanted to buy every copy of the magazine, that featured her on the front page with the story titled: 'Britney Cheated With Ben Affleck!' The driver couldn't sell every copy, since he had orders to fill, but did get around 50 copies. When the driver asked for an autographed copy of the tabloid, Britney insisted, "Only if you'll sell me EVERY Star magazine on the truck." No deal, no autograph.

December 20, 2002 - People magazine reports that when Britney Spears arrived at Suite 16 last Friday, *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake was already there, partying with bandmate JC Chasez, singer Craig David and The Soprano's Robert Iler. "When she found out he was in the club she stayed out primping," an onlooker said. A half hour later, the singer made her entrance and kissed Justin on the cheek to greet each other. Later, Spears walked to the DJ booth and played a song from 'Justified', Timberlake's new album. "Justin and Britney had a little interaction from the DJ booth," says the onlooker. "It was really pretty sweet." The pair did leave separately though.

December 20, 2002 - Britney Spears came out of her self-imposed exile to host New York radio station KTU's 'Miracle on 34th Street' concert. Britney said, "This is so amazing. I am so in the Christmas spirit right now." The all-star bash, celebrating the music of Ray Charles, featured performances by Gloria Gaynor, Patti Labelle, and Liza Minnelli. December 20, 2002 - Star Magazine spoke with a pal of Steven Duke, an Ivy League math whiz who went on a blind date with Britney Spears hoping to score. Duke hooked up with Spears thanks to a childhood pal of his who happened to be one of Britney's backup dancers played matchmaker. "Steve's just a regular guy," says a pal. "But he's also exceptional. Brit was impressed that Steve's a brainiac majoring in economics and is also captain of the baseball team." The pair went together to Suite 16 in New York, and sipped Midori sours. "Steve was in heaven dancing with this superstar who is the object of many men's fantasies," confided a pal. "He told me it was the most surreal half-hour of his life." At the end of the night, Steve asked Spears for her phone number, and she gave it to him. But when he made the call, he got her voice mail, and after leaving a message, hadn't heard back from her. He did manage to give Spears a kiss on the cheek before they parted.

December 20, 2002 - The Enquirer reports Britney Spears' hard-partying dad Jamie has set tongues wagging by tearing up the town with a coke-addled club hostess Kimberly Ybarra. Jamie had been staying at Spears' $3.5 million NoHo pad while Britney was away. They say Jamie's having so much fun, he's planning on moving to Manhattan permanently. Read more.

December 19, 2002 - Britney Spears' publicist Lisa Kasteler tells Nat Ives of the New York Times that the end of Britney's contract with Pepsi does not mean the end of their work together. "They are in conversation and if they come up with something that is creatively as amazing as the other three have been, I'm sure Britney would love to work with them more," she said. Bart Casabona, a spokesman at Pepsi-Cola North America added that new commercials with Spears are possible. December 18, 2002 - The Chicago Sun-Times reports that despite Britney Spears hanging out with her *NSYNC ex-boyfriend on Friday in New York, the singer hasn't won over Britney's mother, especially after his recent actions. Lynne Spears' direct order to the security staff manning the doors on Saturday at Britney's 'Fire and Ice' 21st birthday was NOT to allow Timberlake to crash the bash. Lynne is still furious about the Justin's graphic comments on the radio and in print about his alleged sex life with Britney.

December 18, 2002 - Melissa from Real World New Orleans spoke with CJOnline.com about whether she was a fan of Britney Spears. "No. I don't like that. Christina Aguilera is better. I like Britney. I think she's gorgeous," Melissa said. "I think she's a very talented person -- she can dance, she can sing, her body is banging -- but I don't like her music. I just think, Christina can actually sing. She only weighs two pounds, but she can sing. I only buy boy stuff though. I couldn't imagine being a little kid right now and wanting a CD so bad. December 18, 2002 - Associated Press reports Pepsi has decided to not renew Britney Spears to a contract after two years with the singer. The cola company has nabbed Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles to lead a new marketing effort. Dave Burwick, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Pepsi-Cola North America said Knowles is "a multitalented entertainer who has achieved tremendous success and popularity in both music and movies." The new spots will continue the 'Joy of Pepsi' campaign, which began in January 2003, Pepsi spokesman Bart Casabona said. Read more.

December 17, 2002 - The New York Post reports *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake attended the Britney Spears birthday party at Suite 16 on Friday. A spy revealed, "Britney was there first with a couple of girlfriends. When Justin walked in with two guys, they sat at a separate table. But he went over and kissed Britney and talked for a bit." Jerry Stiller adds little to the role of Old Jingle and, no matter how Leah Remini strikes you on 'King of Queens' or when hawking motor oil, her Vixen is about as vixenish as a stalk of celery." Timberlake talked about his foot injury, the status of *NSYNC, his latest video 'Cry Me A River' and the controversy it has created, and more. When his bandmate JC Chasez saw his 'She's Blowin' Me Up' open the show at #10, he explained like they have fans do, "I'm Justin and I want to vote for JC Chasez he's hot with his long hair and dancin' his tail off in this video 'She's Blowin' Me Up'... Oh, my God!" Speaking of religion, on the west coast at least, when the VJ's compared his appearance to Jesus (I assumed that was the bleeped word anyways), they bleeped it out. "Justin is in hot water with the family for revealing they had hot sex together when Britney told her fans she'd kept her virginity," said a pal. "Everyone in the Spears family is really hurt by Justin's treachery," another insider said. "They say he seems to have no regard for Britney's feelings, and they think he owes them more respect and loyalty after a four-year relationship in which he was treated as one of the family."

December 12, 2002 - elgato writes "NickysVegasBabe from the Backstreet Boys forum at LiveDaily.com attended the Billboard Music Awards on Monday. In part two of her summary of her experience in Las Vegas, she talks about how a former *NSYNC and Wade Robson dancer tells all. She says a dancer named Donny, who was there for the Jam Master Jay tribute, "had been working for *NSYNC & Wade & all them (he was in the 'Pop' video). Ruben says it sounds eerily familiar to when he was targetted for stalking Britney when she was receving bad press during her European trip and after her breakup with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. When the Pepsi company heard about Jay's idea, they immediately asked the Jive Record if they could use the song or not. He says Britney will have a private birthday party in New York on the 14th of December and she's invited him to attend. December 9, 2002 - Maria Carpico of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette spoke with North Hills High School senior Brittany Mulgrew who recorded a CD as her senior project, and is selling a single from the album to benefit the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund. Her song 'Only When I Close My Eyes' has been a big hit on local radio station WBZZ B-94 and has already had some comparing her to another hometown girl, Christina Aguilera. "When I was little, I knew I wanted to be a performer," she said. She named Whitney Houston as an influence but does not like the pop music image that surrounds Britney Spears. "I am still trying to establish what genre of music I want to get into. I am staying away from the pop icon like Britney. I think an artist who writes her own music gets more respect," said Mulgrew, who uses the name B.L. Mulgrew as a singer to avoid association with Spears. December 9, 2002 - Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan of the Baltimore Sun reports the necktie has sprung into fashion thanks to Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch being amongst the stars sporting the accessory normally reserved for businessmen. The fashion trend appears to be part of anti-Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera risque outfits trend. "Britney and Christina were all about being sexual in a very overt way," said Elizabeth Kiester, fashion director of YM. Lavigne and her cohorts "are expressing their feminine power in a more realistic and more non-threatening way. Very few music artists have been as successful as Britney at her age, says her ICM agent, Nick Styne. "The Beatles, Michael Jackson and even Madonna, who was considerably older when she started to achieve a lot of success, didn't have the kind of run (Spears) has had so early on, and she's just turning 21," Styne says.
