February 28, 2003 - The Sun reports Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst decided to set the record straight after initially telling fans about their romance on his official website. Durst said, "I would not be doing this kiss and tell if Britney had been honest. She's a sweet girl. But she's too immature — I don't know what she's worried about." "Fred wrote three songs for Britney's album and she has dumped them all," a pal said. "She doesn't want anything to do with him." Meanwhile, in wake of constant reports of the pop tart partying, pals add that Britney's mother Lynne and her manager took the singer aside for an "intervention," and now Spears has dropped out of sight. "She is busy recording her new album due out in the fall," a pal adds. "No one knows specifically where she is, but some of the album will be done in Los Angeles."

While there was a seat assigned for her, many may believe she didn't show because ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC was presenting with Kylie Minogue. She also may have wanted to avoid Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, and media grilling she'd get about both. "He was really surprised when he found it was Britney. He opened the door and said, ‘What are you doing here?’ She said she wanted to say goodbye to him before he went on tour to Europe. He asked her, ‘Why couldn’t you just phone me?’ She said she wanted to see him in person and asked if he was going to invite her into his room — but he said no. February 24, 2003 - Us Weekly reports that even though Britney Spears attended *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake's 22nd birthday party at Dublin's Irish Whiskey Pub in Los Angeles, the pair stayed far apart when running into each other several days later on February 10th at Joseph's. They partied on opposite sides of the nightclub, and "they didn't say one word to each other," according to a source. It was "an awkward situation for some of their mutual friends."

February 24, 2003 - WENN reports Britney Spears is back together with *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, revealing the situation to Dannii Minogue after the Brit Awards. "At the party, he told her how he and Britney are happier than ever," a pal of Dannii's revealed. "Justin is totally in love and this time it's for keeps. February 22, 2003 - The New York Daily News reports lawyers for Britney Spears are demanding that Star magazine print a retraction to the story that the singer was spotted doing cocaine in the restroom of a Miami nightclub. "The only one who's guilty of doing cocaine has to be the source of this story," says her spokesman, Dan Klores. "It makes for good reading, but it's simply not true." February 20, 2003 - MTV News reports a spokesperson for Limp Bizkit's management company claimed not to be aware of any connection between 'Just Drop Dead', the track frontman Fred Durst released onto the band's website yesterday, and Britney Spears. It is also not known whether the song will appear on the band's new album, now titled Bipolar but still due in May. 'Just Drop Dead' is "definitely" not the first single, the spokesperson said. The track had included references to breaking up and getting back together, sounding more like a long term relationship -- not the reported two-week fling with Spears. And a reference to "run your fu**in' mouth off everyday" in the 'Just Drop Dead' track may be better suited to Playmate Nicole Narain, who recently told News of the World, "[Fred] might not quite pack the same punch from his midriff as Colin [Farrell], but the sex was great." February 12, 2003 - The Mirror reports Colin Farrell had to go with his family to the 'Daredevil' premiere after on-off girlfriend Britney Spears refused to go with him. She writes, "Her time at the club involved standing with her body guards and four or so friends in an upstairs roped-off balcony. From here she could take frequent trips to the bathroom and dance with her entourage. I decided to have my own fun and leave Miss Spears to herself, but our paths just seemed to cross. February 11, 2003 - Pat O'Brien of Access Hollywood chatted with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst to get his take on the short-lived relationship with Britney Spears. Asked why he took down the messages about Britney on his band's official website, Fred explained, "Well, it was getting to a point where it was ridiculous. February 11, 2003 - Britney Spears' big screen debut 'Crossroads' collected eight nominations for this year's Razzies, which honor the year's worst films, while Madonna's 'Swept Away' received seven, both including worst actress and worst film. Jennifer Lopez also is nominated for two of her films, 'Maid in Manhattan' and 'Enough'. "Wow, this is just a very sweet Southern girl, just simple, you know, Southern girl," he told Access Hollywood for an interview airing Monday about first meeting Spears. "But actually, she has a life like Michael Jackson. It's, like, out of control. ... February 10, 2003 - The Mirror reports Dani Behr's interview with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst was so filthy regarding comments on Britney Spears, only 30 seconds of it could be aired. "The interview soon turned from general questions about Fred dating Britney to raunchier talk of how Fred loved Britney's bum," a source explained. "And from there they began bantering about body parts. When TV bosses saw the footage they knew right away there was no way they could air it." February 7, 2003 - Marksfriggin.com reports Crazy Cabbie called in to the Howard Stern show this morning from San Francisco to talk about hanging out with Metallica. He said they had a big press conference yesterday where they announce a tour with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. Cabbie said Fred Durst was there and he got a quick interview with him. He said he asked him a few questions but his people were pulling him away for some reason. Cabbie figured he wasn't as important as TV. Cabbie said he asked Fred about Britney Spears. Fred let him ask about Britney. While he was talking about this the delay button was hit so we don't know exactly what he was saying. It turns out Durst told Cabbie that he ''ate Britney's ass.'' Cabbie said they'll be playing tape of that interview on the Cane and Cabbie show this afternoon. Howard said he'd do that if he could too. When asked how much 'Cry Me A River' is about him having a go at Britney Spears, Timberlake says, "As far as the lyrics of the song are concerned, not at all, really. But the concept of the video was dreamed up by director Francis Lawrence. He passed it by me and I loved the idea so we then worked on the details together - things like who to cast and how the script would play out. People may think there's a war going on between me and her but that's not really the case. The video is about me more than her anyway - it's just a bit of fun." Asked how he'd react if Britney returned the favor in her video, casting a Justin lookalike, he says, "I'd be very flattered that she thought me worth it."

"Britney and Justin were laughing and joking and even danced together," the onlooker said. Last week the paper reported that Justin had been dating a British student known only as Sarah Jane.

February 3, 2003 - The Sunday Mirror reports that despite Britney Spears' snogging with Colin Farrell earlier this week, she was invited by *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake to his 22nd birthday bash on Friday night at Dublin’s Irish Bar in Los Angeles. But Britney left the party alone, determined not to get in any more trouble after she was caught kissing Colin at a party for the opening of his movie 'The Recruit'.
