January 28, 2007 - Carole Kriste, of Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, adoption and medical care of stray and homeless Chihuahuas, spoke with Star magazine after Britney Spears purchased a Tea-cup Apple Head Chihuahua for $3,200."I just shook my head in disbelief when I heard Britney walked into a pet store and paid more than $3,000 for a tiny Chihuahua," Kriste remarked. January 28, 2007 - Sources inside Jive Records tell Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com that despite stories last week at Fox's sister publication The New York Post claiming Britney Spears being dropped by Jive Records, nothing is further from the truth. January 13, 2007 - Reports that Britney Spears would be paid $300,000 to host a New Year's Eve bash tonight at Pure Nightclub at Caesars Palace were annoying the competition. "These guys are out of control," a top hotel executive who asked for anonymity told The Las Vegas Review Journal. "First Pure started paying celebrities and Tao followed. It's ridiculous." "I've never heard Paris use that phrase about anybody, and I won't be surprised to see them together in the future," said the unidentified flack, presumably Elliot Mintz. 

January 13, 2007 - WorldOfBritney.com founder Ruben Garay responded to the item PerezHilton.com posted where Ruben had asked Britney's on/off rep Larry Rudolph to purchase his web site from an outside investor who owned the domain for $50,000. "There are absolutely no inaccuracies in that E-mail sent to Mr. Rudolph by me, in private," Ruben wrote in a posting he has since removed. "At that time, I was faced with an option, to either raise the funds required to obtain the rights to the WorldofBritney.com domain, or let it go and move on. Either way you look at it, this site's financial situation is nobody's business and my decision to part and move on to bigger things was going to happen one way or the other, and now you'll know why." What followed was a pair of AIM conversations which allege Rudolph responded to Britney not meeting fans of a contest WoB ran in which the winners had travelled out of state. "Welcome to my nightmare... well my old nighmare anyway," Rudolph allegedly wrote. "Thank god I'm free of that ****... used to deal with **** like that every day." January 13, 2007 - The National Enquirer's Mike Walker reports that while partying at Area, Britney Spears accidentally lit the filter end of her cigarette, which flamed as she inhaled it. Paris Hilton watched it go down and gasped, telling the newly single singer, "Oh my God! Don't you know that lighting a cigarette the wrong way and inhaling stops the blood flow to your private parts... and doing it more than once means you may never experience orgasm again!" Ruben's seriousness about the situation and run-on responses prompted Bob and co-host Spike to goof on him a bit, but Garay never caught on because he was so busy talking over the DJs. This is the second time she's passed out at a club in two weeks. It seems like she needs a Mrs. Garret [of 'The Facts Of Life'] to watch her. Her publicist said she wasn't drunk. She was just sleepy. That's the quote. Maybe a little dopey. This is from before she got sleepy. You see there. She's coughing up a kleenex there. Or she keeps the underwear stored in her mouth. January 13, 2007 - The Mirror quotes McFly drummer Harry Judd commenting on his rumored 'Just My Luck' fling Lindsay Lohan: "Lindsay doesn't like me very much anymore. But it would be amazing if Paris, Britney and she get it on - they are probably having a secret relationship. That's why they wear no knickers. Wonder if I could watch."

"With these celebrities, 'exhaustion' sometimes means something else and a little rest at a spa sometimes actually translates into something a little more serious," a source remarked, referring to Spears' publicist Larry Rudolph chalking up her New Year's incident to exhaustion. Later, her faux estranged hubby Kevin Federline jumped on the line, talking about claims he was talking smack about the DJ's backstage at his appearance on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show', cancelling his concerts, and how Christmas was different this time than in 2005. January 13, 2007 - Norm Clarke of The Las Vegas Review Journal is disputing claims by Britney Spears' manager that the singer was not drinking at Pure and was simply too tired when she left the club at 1AM early Monday. Clarke writes, "From my vantage point of 3 feet away, I saw Spears drinking a rum and pineapple cocktail, followed by several glasses of champagne about 12:15 a.m." And a source at Pure, who reportedly paid Spears $300,000 to host the New Year's Eve bash, told him, "She had a little too much to drink. She was assisted out, but she was not carried." Read more.

January 13, 2007 - Britney Spears' manager Larry Rudolph insisted to The Associated Press Monday that reports the singer collapsed at Pure nightclub on Sunday night were untrue. "By about one o'clock, she was just done, so we took her out," Rudolph explained. "She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep." Read more.

January 13, 2007 - Star magazine reports that after her split from Kevin Federline, Britney Spears has not been spending enough time with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, handing off the mothering duties to four nannies on a rotating schedule, with two on duty at all times "so that she doesn't have to get up for early morning feedings," a source revealed. "Her mom Lynne looks after the babies too, and her sister Jamie Lynn has taken to babysitting. It's almost like those babies aren't a priority to her anymore. I think she's treating them the same way she treated her dogs [Lacy, Lucky and Bit Bit] in the end - with disinterest." January 13, 2007 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports bodyguards quickly whisked Britney Spears away from Pure's VIP section to her suite about 1 a.m. after the singer collapsed while hosting the club's New Year's Eve bash.
