Spears at a moment when she appears to be down and going through a difficult

I am defending her as a human being. All of the a**holes out here judging

March 11, 2007 - Jay Leno
joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Tuesday night, "I dream I'm
in a car, Ray Liotta was driving, Britney Spears was cutting my hair, and
Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband's in the backseat saying he's my real father. It
was horrible, horrible! ... Well, that's the big story in the news. Britney
Spears has shaved her head, ladies and gentlemen. I couldn't believe this.
Legitimate news organizations are actual breaking into their Anna Nicole
Smith coverage to tell you this story. ... Friends say this is the craziest
thing Britney's ever done that didn't involve marriage. It's unbelievable.
... Actually, Britney reentered rehab today. She really went today. And
Britney's manager asked everyone to respect her privacy. Of course, people
were shocked. 'Britney has a manager?' This guy's done a worse job than
the CEO of JetBlue. ... Actually, did you notice - apparently Britney had
checked into rehab last week and then checked out less than 24 hours later.
That's what people thought. Apparently what happened was, see, they just
tagged her and released her back into the wild. ... You got to admit, this
whole thing is pretty bizarre, isn't it? I mean, her marriage is broken
up. The authorities are at her house. She's been in rehab. Now she shaves
her head and gets tattoos. She's Mike Tyson. She's turned into Mike Tyson.
Hey, what's next? Biting off Paris Hilton's ear, is that the next thing?
... I tell you, the last few days, it's been non-stop Anna Nicole Smith
and Britney Spears coverage. It's ridiculous. I can't get any real news
anymore. I have no idea who Jennifer Aniston's dating. I don't know where
Lindsay Lohan's been. I don't even know if Cameron is back with Justin.
We are in the dark! These stories are dominating. In fashion news, they
say hats are in this year. So, finally good news for Britney, huh? That's
good." That prompted Kevin Eubanks, who has a shaved head himself, to respond,
"Why are you dogging Britney, man? I think she looks kind of cute with
her head." Jay responded, "You like the bald thing?" Kevin said, "Well,
kind of, yeah." Jay said, "Yeah. Yeah, I can't imagine why."

she goes into rehab, something's wrong with her so she's gotta go to rehab.
And then she's in there for one day. Then she goes out and goes and gets
her head shaved. And then she gets tattoos. Now listen, if she's not careful,
people are going to start saying she's unstable. ... But here's the thing

and packaging have dealt with that problem before, and Spears has the advantage
of a gal-next-door personality that's warmer than Carey's diva image. That
could help Britney pile up a stack of sympathy over what the media has
done to her, even if she was wielding the scissors and fully aware cameras
were clicking away." Read more.

just went through the roof. Then there's the distraction factor. For me,
pre-head shaving, I had done a lot of stupid things. I had gotten drunk

rejected in her marriage and that he music career is really on the skids.
She watched the Grammys recently - not so long ago she would have been
up there on stage, now that seems like a distant memory. She feels a failure
professionally and unloved in her personal life. It's as if she is getting
a kick out of doing increasingly erratic things just to see how the public
and media react. Sadly, she is getting confused by what she sees as adoration,
when it's actually her fans reacting in horror." Read more.

star using one of Evanescence's songs. "OK, hold on a second. I have to
post that I in NO WAY am going to endorse any kind of Britney bashing after
everything she's been through," Lee wrote at the EvClub forums. "I can't
control what people put on YouTube or anywhere else on the internet, but
I would NEVER want my picture or our music connected to something that's
based on getting enjoyment out of someone's pain. I know what it's like
to feel manipulated, used and helpless - so do most of you, that's why
you're here - and by now I know what it's like to feel like your entire
life is open to the world for judgement. I don't read tabloids and I don't
care about celebrity, but it is impossible to escape the whole world just
loving to watch her suffer. Remember that this is a human being we're talking
about - and who wants to be like those horrible people that have hurt you
to feel better about themselves? 'Everybody's Fool' is about the fact that
the whole celebrity thing is fake and empty. I think Britney Spears is
more aware of that now than anyone. I'm not trying to burn you at the stake,
Strat, but it would mean alot to me if you'd take your clip down. Love,
Amy. P.S.- tabloids are dumb. don't buy them."

Spears has shaved her head. Yeah. You thought she was clean-shaven before.
Oh, my gosh! ... Have you seen the photos? You know, say what you want
about Britney, okay. It still looks better than what Trump did with his
hair. Okay, I got to go with that. ... I guess she shaved her head and
got a couple of tattoos. So, looks like that one day in rehab really worked
wonders. ... Well, according to Fox News, Britney Spears checked into rehab
and checked out less than 24 hours later. Apparently, she was upset because
the room didn't have a mini bar. So she checked out. ... Seriously, doesn't
it seems like this girl is in trouble? Doesn't it? I mean shouldn't her
friends be doing some kind of intervention or something? You know, psychiatrists
say, shaving your head is a a desperate cry for help. Kev, anything you
want to talk about?" That prompted bald band leader Kevin Eubanks, who
earlier said "I think it's kind of hot," to fire back, "That is not true!

girl is in the middle of a divorce," Chasez argued. "There is no denying
it. I've known her since she was 12 years old. She is one of the sweetest
people you have ever met. She has a heart of gold. A divorce at 25 is never
going to be easy. The one person that she trusted more than anybody in
the world now, is not with her. It's a transition and I genuinely feel
bad for her. I mean sure she goes out with a beer and cigarette in her
hand and everybody flips out. She is 25 kids! It's not illegal." Download

bridge for kids who were past Spongebob, but not ready for Courtney Love,"
Hinckley writes. "She fit the package brilliantly and we rewarded her by
buying 76 million of her CDs and millions of her concert tickets. Trouble
is, unlike Spongebob, she didn't have eternal youth, and eventually, inevitably,
she out-grew the packaging." Read more.

Her value is now all about selling newspapers and magazines." Read more.
March 11, 2007 - The New
York Daily News reports Britney Spears' decision to shave her own hair
off on Friday may lead to heavy financial consequences. "Without question,
parents are going to have a hard time allowing their kids to buy anything
associated with Britney," says Doug Akin, a partner with Mr. Youth, a marketing
agency that works with lifestyle brands trying to capture the teen market.
"I think the concern here is the excessiveness and I think it is certainly
dicey for a major corporation to associate with someone when they are at
stage like this."
March 11, 2007 - Esther Tognozzi,
owner of the Tarzana hair salon where Britney Spears shaved her hair on

kept saying, 'I know they are trying to get my kids away from me. I know

March 11, 2007 - Popdirt
noted
that the Britney Spears hair auction on eBay with the asking price of $1
million was likely a violation of the site's policy against selling of
body parts - despite their exception of hair, since normal human hair auctions
the owner is not identified. The privacy concerns are apparent, given the
ability to test for illegal drugs with a hair sample. Not to mention there
was no consent given by Britney to have the salon sell her hair. After
Popdirt contacted eBay yesterday for clarification, they have now cancelled
the auction. The web site states: "This listing (330089956532) has been
removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right
item number. If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it canceled.
Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear
on eBay."

March 11, 2007 - Jay Leno
joked during his Tonight Show monologue on Thursday night, "I'm coming
in this morning, I go past the Promises rehab center. The marquee says,
'Britney Spears, one night only.' Big sign. ... I'm sure you heard by now.
For the third time in less than a week, Britney Spears has checked into
rehab. It's the third time in less than a week. Now, typical stay in rehab
is what? 30 days? To which Britney said, 'Well, not in a row.' ... Remember
the old days when pop stars acted normally, like Michael Jackson? What
happened?"
March 11, 2007 - David Hinckley
of The New York Daily News profiled the public's attention received by
the death of Anna Nicole Smith and the drama surrounding Britney Spears
in his column on Sunday. "Anna and Britney, between them, created enough
noise that most media - including outlets that probably would have preferred
to stay clear - were pulled right in alongside the rest of us," he writes.
"'The Insider' and 'Entertainment Tonight' were there, sure, but now so
was Wolf Blitzer from CNN's higher-brow 'Situation Room'. There were Sean
Hannity of Fox News and Joe Scarborough of MSNBC, analyzing testimony in
the Smith case as intently as they parse Iraqi war resolutions." Read more.

Kevin, Britney went into wild partying mode," a source tells The Evening
Standard. "One night she took home two female lapdancers with her. And
the next day she told Lynne, 'I've had it with men - I'm off them'. Her
mother lost it with her. She is devoutly religious and was telling her
it was against God what she was suggesting. She was telling her she was
possessed by the Devil. Lynne was saying she needed to go to rehab to cleanse
her soul." Read more.

and worried sick," Deveny writes. "Personally, I feel a little relieved.
Relieved at the possibility (even if it's a remote one) that the rest of
Britney's horrifying breakdown will take place in private. But I'm also
relieved for a very selfish reason. I no longer have the slightest fear
that my daughter will want to be like Britney Spears when she grows up."

interview with The Sunday Mirror, Jason Alexander has described how his
55-hour wife Britney Spears almost died overdosing on ecstasy during a

with pure MDMA inside," Alexander recalled. "It wasn't pressed up into
a tablet. It was the purest of the pure. I am a pretty big guy and at the
time I was weighing 220lb and was extremely fit. We took two of those things.
And it knocked my dick in the dirt. Then it hit her and it hit her hard.
In that situation, your body temperature heats up and you can die. She
was sweating and overheating and her breathing was getting real slow. Other
people were panicking. But we got her out the back and up to the suite.
I took her into the bathroom and threw her into the shower. She was unconscious.
She tripped and fell. I was trying to hold her up and speak to her. She
wasn't moving. It scared me. I was fu**ed up too and tripping out. I couldn't
hold her up in the shower she was so fu**ed up. She slipped and hit her
head on the shower. I remember looking down at her all crumpled in the
tub with the water coming down. She looked so white and lifeless I thought
she was dead. I thought, 'This bitch is going to fu**ing die right here
in front of me.' But I managed to get her colder and colder. I slapped
her in the face and was shaking her. Eventually, she came round and we
were both just fu**ed. So we lay there naked on the bathroom floor for
hours just talking." Read more.

justify it, not with my faith, not with my family," said Bush, who has
three daughters, ages, 2, 6 and 8. "Here's a girl who's cracking. She's
a young person who's got some problems. They're obvious. We don't need
to add to them. I don't want blood on my hands in any way." Bush added,

Traister of Salon.com is weighing in on the reaction to Britney Spears'
meltdown after the singer checked into rehab for a third try on Wednesday

an unflattering pall on Spears' otherwise compelling tale," Traister writes,
"though wasn't Princess Diana's death supposed to remind us that it's all
fun and games until someone loses a life? Maybe it's simply that in a celebrity
universe in which their problems - controversial adoptions of African babies,
multimillion-dollar divorces, affairs with backup dancers - seem deeply
unreal to those of us back on planet Earth, the Spears saga reeks of familiar
all-too-human ick." Read more.
