August 30, 2000 - Worldpop reports that Britney as named as one of the 10 best hairstyles in a US hair magazine where they add "'The Britney' is set to be a much requested do in styling salons across the world."

August 30, 2000 - Thirsty.com reports the rumor that Britney had to cancel a secret rendezvous she had planned with Prince William over security concerns. They include a quote, most likely from a British tabloid, from Britney saying "I was asked to meet him, but it was leaked out and was cancelled. It’s probably a blessing though, because, had we met up, I would have never been left alone."

August 30, 2000 - Sweet16.com is having a contest where the winner will get a trip to Florida along with tickets to her show at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre.

August 30, 2000 - More on the Lynn tripping incident where she disconnected the sound accidently in the National Examiner this week. According to a witness "That's how Britney got busted for miming, because she continued going through the motions for a few seconds before she realized the music had stopped. Britney was really steamed and said her mom would have to stay in the audience from now on."

August 29, 2000 - Not very recent but I just found it tonight, Icebox has a 'Celebrity Webcam' clip with Britney Spears which of course is about her breasts... Funny stuff, check it out here.

August 29, 2000 - Big scoop from our message boards as Renee, who was at Britney's show tells us "Last night Britney performed at the Tweeter center, which is right outside of Boston. She was seen backstage acting very smitten with Choreographer Wade Robeson. A teenage fan asked Britney if she was really dating Justin Timberlake to which Britney shot the girl (who could not have been more then 15) a look of disgust and said, "No, please!". Wade was also part of the troop that accompanied Britney out of the Tweeter center at the close of the show."

August 29, 2000 - Mariah will be one of many celebrities that are donating their blue jeans for an Internet auction to raise money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's California Chapter on Yahoo! auctions.

August 29, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca this week when asked if Britney is really a virgin "Are you, my dear? How does it feel to have someone poking around, so to speak, in such private matters? I know, I know--poker calling the fireplace black."

August 29, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Britney recently had a genie outfit for her dolls up for sale on the official site. A shocked fan told them "I was so shocked to see a genie outfit when I looked on the web site. This is obviously Britney's way of having a go at Christina and it's hilarious. It's good to see Brit has a sense of humor and doesn't take herself too seriously. I wonder if Christina will be bringing out a skimpy schoolgirl girl costume?"

August 29, 2000 - More on the Tweety Center show, as the Boston Globe reports "Rivers of white stretch limos poured off of the highways and clogged every lane leading into the Tweeter Center, as one after the other spewed young girls arriving to meet their maker. Or so it seemed from the level of giddy anticipation that greeted each breeze that rustled a stage curtain that might have indicated (insert piercing shrieks here) the arrival of Britney Spears." And of the show? "Spears appeared the moderately gifted, extraordinarily well-coached, and genuinely enthusiastic young entertainer who has, happily, dispensed with the lion's share of forced smiles and silly giggles that saturated her show in Worcester in March."

August 28, 2000 - KISS 104.9 in Cleveland is running a Britney Spears lookalike contest where the winner gets to meet Britney. There's also a  'in drag' contest for dads at the show. Go to waks.com for more details.

August 27, 2000 -Britney had a sold-out performance at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto Tuesday, Aug. 22.

August 26, 2000 - OK, this should be the final word on the Britney held at gunpoint story... From the Salt Lake Tribune: "No one in "Utah, U.S.A.," or anywhere else for that matter, heard about the incident until the Sunday People item came out, a week after it allegedly occured. No police reports on the incident have surfaced anywhere in the state. And Britney's publicists at Jive Records said Monday that the Sunday People report was bogus."

August 26, 2000 - Thirsty.com reports that Britney was flashed by a fan while singing BOMT. The fan lifted his shirt to reveal a chest full of Britney Spears tattoos. She told reporters later "It was on of the funniest and craziest things that has ever happened to me."

August 26, 2000 - Britney Spears was mentioned as a contributor to the SAG strike fund, according to SAG prexy William Daniels. No dollar amount was revealed.

August 25, 2000 - MTV is reporting that Britney's next video will be Stronger.

August 24, 2000 - As we reported earlier this week, the Daily News tells us the recent story of Britney being held in a robbery is "completely false" yet we also see that popcentric is posting, via a reader email, that "officials are now reporting that Britney was using the restroom as the store was being robbed and she was not really in the path of any serious harm." [Bullsh*t, it didn't happen, this is becoming urban legend material.]

August 24, 2000 - Apparently Britney's role with BBC Online is stirring controversy as Claire Rayner, on of the regular columnists for the piece, says to Qonline "This makes me so angry I'm not sure I should respond. I'm sure Britney means well, but being an agony aunt is a real job and a major responsibility. People writing in are often genuinely troubled and desperate for serious answers which someone like Britney, who has a totally unreal life, is utterly unqualified to provide." But Britney's rep pointed out this was aimed at 13 to 15 year olds looking for advice she can relate to.

August 23, 2000 - Britney Spears has signed a deal with BBC Online to give out 'Dear Abby' type advice to teens starting September 8th. She said of the opportunity "This is a great way of showing that pop stars are real people, too. Most of those logging on are probably going through the same experiences most teens go through, and it is great to share with them how I dealt with these situations."

August 23, 2000 - Ellen K of Dees Sleaze reports that Britney Spears was seen with perhaps a new boyfriend, she was spotted with some unknown guy, Bill Roberts the witness caller seemed to recall. The witness spotted them at Starbucks in Hollywood. Dees also reports that Britney cut 6 inches of her hair.

August 22, 2000 - Worldpop reveals that Christina and Britney are really friends, as they quote Aguilera as saying "I was talking to Britney last week on the phone. We try to keep in touch because there is a friendship that was based a long time ago on the Mickey Mouse Club. I go through a gruelling schedule and I know she goes through it, too. I have to give her credit for that, for being able to endure the pressures and responsibilities."

August 22, 2000 - The Toronto Sun had a story this week about Britney being a target for the tabloids, chronicalling  her past troubles, where they quote a concert director saying "Unfortunately, there are always negative forces -- people want to knock down those that get up there, that become popular. There seems to be this, I'll call it a bit of an infatuation, to pick on the kid-pop music right now."

August 22, 2000 - Salon.com's Amy Reiter reports that Britney and Justin were spotted dining a deux at Del Frisco's Steakhouse in Orlando. A witness told Amy "They were very close and affectionate, constantly holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes. They shared meals and dessert." When the witness approached Britney in the bathroom, she claimed Spears was rude to her.

August 22, 2000 - Jessica Simpson on whether she prefers Britney or Christina: "I prefer Britney, although both of them are nice girls, I know Britney a little better than Christina and chatted with her more. She's also a very hard worker. She deserves everything's she's been blessed with. Not to say that Christina isn't talented and friendly...I can see myself being better friends with Britney."

August 22, 2000 - Star magazine reports Britney was being a high tipping diva during a recent stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, asking  for pink 300 thread-count cotton sheets, egg-crate beauty pillows, a masseuse on call, and even barbecue potato chips.

August 22, 2000 - MTV.com cancelled their Britney Spears ticket auctions saying "Due to problems with management, we had to cancel the rest of the auction dates. This does not mean that these shows are cancelled, just that MTV.com will no longer be auctioning off tickets to these shows. We apologize for the removal of these shows from the schedule."

August 22, 2000 - We tipped off our friends at the Daily News and George Rush contacted Britney Spears' spokespeople who denied the story that appeared in the Sunday People. Rush also called the Sunday People one of the least reliable of the British tabloids. The tabloid claimed Britney needed to use their bathroom, but the tour bus has a bathroom already. August 21, 2000 - UK newspaper Sunday People reports Britney was held at gunpoint and made her to lie face down on the floor by drugged out robbers at a gas station only hours before her performance in Salt Lake City (see below). Britney's spokesman told the paper "There was a real danger she could have been killed if these lunatics had realised who she was. They were obviously drugged-up and would have done anything for money."

August 21, 2000 - The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Britney Spears singing doll is outselling the Christina Aguilera counterpart, according to a Long Beach merchant.

August 21, 2000 - The National Examiner interviewed Disney talent scout Matt Casella, who commented on Britney saying "After doing these incredible gymnastic-like dance moves, she belted out Sweet Georgia Brown without gasping for breath. She totally knocked me out."

August 21, 2000 - The National Enquirer is warning Britney today about her tanning bed installed on her tour bus, saying "Britney, here's a serious word of caution... no make that TWO words: SKIN CANCER!" They also comment about her Teen Choice Awards dress, saying "With that sexy, swingy fringe and low-cut neckline showing off her figure, the teen songbird looks like she's dumped the girl next door image for good."

August 21, 2000 - Popcentric reports that Justin was seen with Britney last week as a witness saw him after her Top of The Pops appearance. Justin was wearing a bandana over his head and sunglasses.

August 21, 2000 - Kid Rock is on the wires bashing Britney, saying to GQ "[Britney's] cute, especially when you're 35 and want some young a-. So would I f*** her? Yes. Would I go out of my way to do so? No." He also make rude remarks about her mother.

August 21, 2000 - Britney's picture will be on billboards and magazines to promote the VMA's September 7th.

August 19, 2000 - The Stanford Daily reviewed Britney's concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on Aug. 8, saying "The dancing was flawless and so was the singing, given the support lent by prerecorded tracks. She even had some moms grooving to her funky beats. She charged through some 13 songs, closing with crowd favorites Baby One More Time and the ubiquitous Oops! I Did It Again."

August 19, 2000 - More Britney pictures are on the wire from the Teen Choice Awards, again featuring the dress that popped out only to be fixed moments before she met with the press.
 

August 19, 2000 - Britney's autographed photo is featured in an eBay auction. The picture (item #409406635) is bid at $51.00 and ends Sunday.

August 18, 2000 - Eastciti interviewed Don Philip and asked him how it was to work with Britney on I Will Still Love You.. He joked "Britney was such a bitch!" immediately adding "She was wonderful to work with and we both don't have these big heads so we don't clash. Britney was just Britney Jean from New Orleans when I first met her and she's a nice Southern girl, but she's Britney superstar now and she doesn't have to look back or help me, but she did."

August 18, 2000 - The Salt Lake Tribune reviewed Britney's concert on Monday, saying "every hip thrust and costume change was elaborately planned and executed flawlessly" and added of it's commercialism "banner ads for shampoo and cameras, featuring Spears, were hung everywhere, and prior to the show, two commercials featuring Spears were shown on video screens to cheers from the crowd."

August 18, 2000 - Popcentric reports Justin was on WESH NBC talking about him and Britney, where he said "We thought it would be funny since people are always talking about us being together. I have given up talking about my personal life, because no matter what I say, people still believe what they want. No, I am not engaged and no I am not dating Britney. She has been a real good friend since I was 12. We hang out and do things other teenage friends would do, but we are not dating.'"

August 18, 2000 - Richard Simmons is no longer sweating to the oldies for his new weight loss infomercials, as ET tonight showed him singing Oops... I Did It Again.

August 18, 2000 - Worldpop had a goofy picture of Britney and Justin on today, it appears fairly recent.

August 17, 2000 - Britney Spears former band Innosense is claiming that Brit was always sleeping when she was in the band, as Nikki divulges "'She slept the whole time ... That's all she did."

August 17, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports that Justin and Britney were seen shopping in Oregon at Urban Outfitters. Justin attended her concert later and they showed him on the jumbo screen. He also adds the two shared a hotel suite at the Radisson in Sacramento. Ted says that the reason Britney was not in Dawson's Creek was reportedly that James Van Der Beek didn't want "that teenybopper" around.

August 17, 2000 - Worldpop.com is featuring an interview with Britney Spears, she talks about Oops..., having a hard time meeting guys, and Justin.

August 16, 2000 - Ted Casablanca is chiming in on reader's Justin and Britney questions, saying "If they have plans to move in together, why does that necessarily mean they've already slept together?" as well as "From what I hear, Justin is more smitten with the strut. If anything, I predict it will be Britney who'll have second thoughts."

August 16, 2000 - TV Guide is featuring a gallery of Britney's beach photos, and yes, she's in a bikini, so check em out here!

August 15, 2000 - The Star reports that Britney Spears sent her mother up to another floor in a department store while she shoped for sexy lingerie, including three black lace bras with matching panties, a red satin corset with garters, as well as T-Shirts that said "Sexy Girl" and "Bad Girl"

August 15, 2000 - Apparently the reason the Britney and Justin marriage rumors started was because of a trip Justin took with his manager where the manager picked up an engagement ring. The owners of the store thought the ring was for Britney and then started spreading the rumor.

August 15, 2000 - Entertaindom.com reports that Britney's mother sent the pop star to collect trash as a punishment for being grounded. Her brother recalled "She cried the whole time and I took pictures of her -- just so she wouldn't forget what happens when you break a curfew!"

August 15, 2000 - Christina Aguilera is following in Britney's footsteps by using new artist Don Philip to perform a duet with her on her new album. For Brit, he pitched in for I Will Still Love You while with Christina, he'll help redo If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful, first recorded by Whitney Houston and Jermaine Jackson.

August 15, 2000 - pagesix.com's Paula Froelich in a Yahoo chat last week commented about Britney, saying "#1- I personally think her breasts are real, #2- She doesn't lip sync, #3- She and Justin Timberlake are very good friends and have known each other for many years but I don't see a ring on her finger."

August 15, 2000 - Our opinion poll asking "Do you think Britney Spears should get married to Justin Timberlake?" produced a staggering 5043 votes since the story broke last month, with 27.3% sayng yes, but the vast majority, 72.7% saying no. The results were even more slanted when girls were asked the same question of Justin, with 84.4% saying no way!

August 14, 2000 - Additional details of Britney and Justin's stage appearance at the Teen Choice awards are coming in, as the two called each other 'cute' and added they should go out some time, then finally slowly moved towards each other's lips before bolting off the stage.

August 14, 2000 - In a review of Britney's Gorge appearance last weekend, Caitlin Cleary absolutely slammed her, saying of the performance "The songs are awful. I mean, hard-to-listen-to awful. Totally vapid, saying nothing smart, funny or even vaguely surprising." adding "But if Britney is a star, why can't she find some better songwriters? The songs are a cavalcade of clichés. How many times can you sing about "if you really want me" or "You drive me crazy"?"

August 14, 2000 - The Seattle PI was a little easier on Britney, as Myke Folger commented "The dancing was the best part of the one-hour show. Spears and her dancers, decked out in Catholic school outfits for ...Baby One More Time, spun, tossed their heads, rolled their shoulders and swiveled their hips. Spears ripped off her uniform to reveal a football jersey and a short suede skirt, and the dancing continued."

August 14, 2000 - The Sun had excerpts from Britney's book today, among the quotes from the book, Britney's mom says "In the beginning we had a house and a car and were living comfortably. Then, in about 1990, Jamie's building business wasn't doing well. The bills would come in but we couldn't pay them, the power company threatened to turn off our lights and then the phone company cut off our service." And of Britney? mother Lynne recalls, "She had a certain spark about her. She loved to pose. If you look at the pictures of her when she is only a year or two old, she's got her hands on her hips, lips pouting, voguing for the camera." Also from the book, 4 childhood pictures and a picture with mom (Lynne must be under 5 feet tall!)

August 13, 2000 - iswag.com reports in a recent survey of teenagers, forty percent of girls wearing Britney Spears-branded clothing said they consider themselves popular, versus 21 percent of girls who wear Christina Aguilera's duds. Also, 83 percent of those wearing Britney feel peer pressure, and are three times more likely to go to summer school than kids who don Limp Bikzkit gear.

August 13, 2000 - Yesterday at the Seattle Mariner's game against the Indians a guy brought in a cardboard Britney and the jumbo camera focused in on her while playing Crazy as the board said, "Safeco Field welcomes Britney Spears." The crowd needed the humor after seeing the Indians go ahead on a 2 error aided inside the park homer earlier.

August 13, 2000 - There have been more reports of Justin appearing at Britney's concerts recently, both by popcentric and Groupie Central, so apparently if Thalia caused a fight between the two they've since made up.

August 12, 2000 - Another Britney painting is up for bids on eBay. This one doesn't look much like her to me, so maybe that's why it is only going for $15 and hasn't even received a bid at that price. The painting (item 402641408) runs until Sunday.

August 11, 2000 - The Seattle Times is running "Will the real offensive pop star please stand up?" today, comparing Britney and Eminem. Several are questioned about who they would rather eliminate, click here for more.

August 11, 2000 - Ahead of her concert tonight at the Gorge, the Seatte Times is profiling Britney, as more details can be found here.

August 11, 2000 - A survey sponsored by Teen magazine and Sears has determined that teenage girls consider Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore and Christina Aguilera to set "good examples" by their image, behavior and style. Britney Spears, on the other hand, was singled out as a "bad example."

August 11, 2000 - The Seattle PI is running a story that appeared in the LA Daily News which Britney is made out to be naive about her power within the music biz... we don't think this is the case. Fred Schuster is quoted as saying "What Spears doesn't seem to understand is she has the sort of clout Garth Brooks had a few years ago when he demanded a change in his label's executive suite -- and got it."

August 10, 2000 -Plenty of dirt today from E! Online's Ted Casablanca, as he reports Britney and Justin are rumored to be house hunting in LA. He also says Britney "knows how to navigate around a punch bowl", more specifically, that they (her and *NSYNC) do drink liquor, contrary to what he was told earlier.

August 10, 2000 - Britney's mom added another tour report on her official site, Britneyspears.com.

August 9, 2000 - Britney Spears' UK ties were interviewed this week in the Star, as Britain is trying to claim Spears' as theirs since her grandmother was born in London and met husband Barney in the UK. They also report that the European relatives want Britney to come and visit them and prove to the grandchildren of Lillian Bridges that Britney really is a relative (the kids have been teased at school being called liars for saying such).

August 9, 2000 - Clarification perhaps from Jeannette Walls, as Britney's top fell actually before her meeting after the event with the press. A source told her "There were red faces and some frantic wardrobe re-adjusting, Britney has an image to maintain." [One look at the photo below makes it apparent this top just didn't fit Brit and was a disaster waiting to happen.]

August 9, 2000 - Justin and Britney faked kissing each other when presenting at the Teen Choice Awards. Brit does look bursting at the seems in her top, now we watch and wait for her bare breasted moment to be uploaded to the web...

August 9, 2000 - We're hearing rumors on Groupie Central that Justin Timberlake is actually dating Kayliegh (sp?) and while he still sees Britney, it's mostly for PR and isn't serious... We aren't convinced, sorry.

August 7, 2000 - The Enquirer has already published the Chaos picture taken by Kathyrn Anderson. In the picture you can see a bottle of Absolute vodka and Britney holding a glass, though obviously it's impossible to tell if she's drinking an alchoholic beverage.

August 7, 2000 - Britney won Choice Female Artist and Female Hottie of the Year in this years Teen Choice Awards 2000 which although awarded Sunday, will air on Fox Aug. 22 at 8 p.m.

August 7, 2000 - Britney Spears narrowly avoided entering the stage of the Teen Choice awards with one of her nipples exposed during her performance. Dotmusic reports from an onlooker, "this guy came across and pushed her boob back into her dress and pulled it around so it wouldn't happen again."

August 4, 2000 - A week after their publicized fight, Justin was at SoHo's Club NV dirty-dancing with assorted beauties, with Britney nowhere in sight according to the New York Daily News. Is their relationship over??

August 4, 2000 - Britney has responded to Buckingham Palace requests to leave Prine William alone, reports entertaindom.com, saying "I can't believe his people would even have the nerve to go through his mail. He's 18, he's an adult and he can make his own decisions."

August 4, 2000 - entertaindom.com reports the culprit of Britney's sound disaster in Dallas was in fact her mother, who tripped over a lead backstage. Lynne admitted later "Needless to say, I do not stand on the side of the stage anymore!"

August 3, 2000 - The London Daily Record reports that officials at Buckingham Palace have asked Britney to leave Prince William alone, after Britney had been sending William a steady stream of letters and photos.

August 3, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Britney Spears has spoken out about fake nude pictures of her on the internet, saying "I hate the thought of people pinning these fantasies to my name. I am 100 percent against anything remotely sleazy."

August 3, 2000 - Britney Spears has refused to take part in the Summer Music Mania event in Jacksonville Florida because of the fact DJ Billy Goat's station is hosting it, reports popcentric. Brit has a restraining order against the DJ becaus of whatever he did when she last played in Daytona.

August 3, 2000 - More details are rolling in on Justin's fight with Britney last week at Chaos last week, as MTV veejay Thalia apparently was at the heart of the trouble. E! Online's Ted Casablanca interviewed a witness who said of Thalia "She totally had her eyes on Justin. She was an 'N Sync slut, and to put it mildly, Britney was not happy." Britney stormed off as Justin flirted with Thalia, instead hanging with her dancers. The witness also reports "Britney looked horrendous without makeup, with a complexion that would make Cam Diaz look as clear as Calista Flockhart's desire not to eat."

August 2, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Britney Spears was starstruck when she met U2's Bono, saying "I was so starstruck, I couldn't say a word. I must admit I was very embarrassed, I was speechless. It was the first and only time it ever happened to me."

August 1, 2000 - Variety's Troy J. Augusto reviewed Britney's performance at the Forum in LA last night, saying "It was Barbie's Dream House come to life at the Forum, where teen sensation Britney Spears convincingly played the role of living doll to a sold-out crowd of look-alike young girls and their tolerant parents."

August 1, 2000 - entertaindom.com reports Britney had a very embarrassing moment in concert after telling a journalist just before the show "When I have big video screens up, a sound delay confuses the audience. They think I'm lip-syncing, but I'm singing my a** off." Unfortunately, her backing tape broke-down during a show in Dallas, Texas, which left just sound from bass, keyboards and drums. Fans noted a big difference in sound quality.

August 1, 2000 - entertaindom.com reports Cyndi Lauper hates Britney Spears, where she's quoted as saying of Brit "This is a seventeen-year-old girl whose mom helped her to get a boob job because she felt that that's how she would become more popular. You don't have to be some little tart, and it's great to come into the power of your own sexuality, but why the adults have to stick their hands in and muck about I find very sad. What's also sad is these little girls that they're making into Lolitas; if you truly stop and think about what the songs are that they're singing, that doesn't come out of an eighteen-year-old. They don't have that kind of experience. So that the propaganda that you are now feeding into the youth is a pedophiliac type of prostitution for the young kids today."
