July 31, 2000 - Britney's mom updated her journal on the 24th, where she described the beginning of the week in New York as hectic, though leaving and heading to Texas was a treat as they flew a private jet. Lynn revealed that Britney has to have an oxygen tank on stage between songs because of the high energy show.

July 30, 2000 - More details emerging from Justin and Britney's night at Chaos Wednesday morning, as the New York Daily News reports the two were "real lovebirds, completely uninhibited" according to a spy at the club, who also saw the two making out for a half hour in their banquette. Around 3 am though, the two got in a heated argument as the two walked out in different directions, but eventually they both left in Britney's town car.

July 29, 2000 - We hear that Britney Spears will be in an episode of Buffy this coming year, as Entertainment Weekly reports from Buffy co-exec producer Marti Noxon "She's a friend of Sarah Michelle Gellar's and she loves the show and wants to do an episode."

July 29, 2000 - VH1's The Daily One reported today that Madonna's daughter is a big fan of Britney Spears.

July 29, 2000 - Britney Spears was the #2 search term on Momma.com this month, with *NSYNC being #1 [they don't say the purchased millions of ads to turn those searches though! But they're a paying sponsor, so we won't badmouth them.]

July 28, 2000 - Interesting converasation on Usenet about the suggestion that MTV's All Access originally showed an 'obvious' lip-synched version of Lucky while later on the weekend show, it was live. Some are speculating Britney's people complained and/or MTV didn't like the sound off her live version. [I only saw the weekend version so I'm in the dark on this one.]

July 27, 2000 - Pagesix.com reports a tourist snapping photos of Britney Spears at Chaos, a nightclub in New York, was kicked out by Spears bodyguards after refusing to turn over her camera. She said of Britney, "She was drunk and belligerent," adding Britney yelled at her for trying to take a picture of her in the ladies room earlier. Spears and Choas spokesman Ron Alan denied Britney or Justin, whom Spears danced with at Chaos until 3:30 am were drinking, as the underage clubgoers must wear a pink neon bracelet, which bars them from drinking booze.

July 27, 2000 - Worldpop reports Mandy Moore is in a fighting mood for Prince William, saying "'I'm happy to fight Britney Spears and Christina over him. I don't know where they are but I'm ready. Ready to fight." [well Mandy definately has the reach advantage!]

July 27, 2000 - The New York Daily News reports that while Britney was playing down her and Justin's relationship in YM, her actions speak otherwise. Britney made a special trip to New York Tuesday to hang at the trendy Lotus, where a source revealed "Britney and Justin were totally together."

July 27, 2000 - Britney Spears is under fire by a group of doctors opposed to dairy products wants the government to investigate health claims in the milk industry's "Got Milk?" advertising campaign. The president of the group, Neal D. Barnard, said "Britney's ad might as well be captioned, 'Oops, I did it again - sold out for an unhealthy product."

July 26, 2000 - More Britney jokes as last night Craig Kilborn joked that after the girl was knocked out at her concert she asked what hit her, when she replied "The left one!"

July 25, 2000 - Britney Spears Crazy was nominated for Best Dance Video while Oops!... I Did It Again was nominated for Best Pop Video and Viewer's Choice in this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which will be hosted by the Wayans brothers, reports Worldpop.

July 25, 2000 - Eminem was again on Farmclub.com last night, where he French kissed a notebook with Britney Spears' picture.

July 25, 2000 - Britney Spears canceled a photo shoot for Clairol shampoo just hours after it was announced the singer would be the new face of its Herbal Essence line in a show of support for striking SAG members, though the song she recorded for them will still be used on the radio.

July 24, 2000 - Jay Leno joked tonight in his monologue that a girl was knocked unconcious at a Britney Spears concert... apparently because Britney is learning how to control her new breast implants.

July 24, 2000 - Worldpop reports the Denver City Council is appealing for Britney Spears to reconsider the decision to cancel her concert at Red Rocks, saying "We had not had the opportunity to speak directly with them. It know it's a big show and a very specific, arena kind of show."

July 23, 2000 - There were a couple of Britney shows on today on MTV. The first was a kid from Queens that got to interview/meet Britney. The guy fit the prototype obsessed fan but Britney was pretty nice to him. He also got to introduce her for the concert later that night. After that MTV aired the making of the video Lucky. We saw hints of the rumored unhappy Britney in the video, as she seemed pretty impatient to get the whole thing over with... but who knows, maybe she was just in character for Lucky, the woman Britney described as 'totally opposite of me.'

July 22, 2000 - There was a Zogby Poll earlier this week that confirmed the same thing we did, that Britney is the favorite teen girl singer amongst fans, though there poll had 31.7% say other and 27.4% said they didn't like all 4, with winner Britney only getting 18.7%.

July 22, 2000 - Unfortunately, Britney's Herbal Essences ad doesn't have the trademark sexual moaning, rather she sings about it instead.

July 22, 2000 - eBay has a huge 20x16 photo (item #382197253) of Britney Spears smiling auctioning. The item is being sold in the UK and the auction ends July 23rd.

July 22, 2000 - Britney Spears is quoted as saying to Britain's Sunday Express that she'd like to date Prince William because ``I think he is really really cute.'' Before Wills thinks he'll get quick action, Britney cautions "If I have on a short skirt it doesn't mean I have low morals. I have very high morals. I don't believe in sex before marriage. July 22, 2000 - Travis brought out a Britney Spears lookalike when they sang their remake of  . . .Baby, One More Time at a show in Los Angeles Friday, reports Launch.com.

July 22, 2000 - Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, and others are expected to appear at a press conference Tuesday in Manhattan to support incarcerated rapper Keith Murray, who claims he was unjustly convicted on assault charges.

July 21, 2000 - The Sun reported today that Prince William was teased with chants of "Britney, Britney" when he visited a pub, though witnesses said he just laughed it off.

July 20, 2000 - NME reports that Eminem is 'beyond angry' at the results of a Britney and Eminem mixed track that's been showing up on Napster, while Britney is said to be cool with it. They also report Britney is looking forward to her trip to England, saying "I'm looking forward to having a look round Birmingham and Manchester and maybe doing a bit of shopping."

July 20, 2000 - More details on the McDonalds CDs. The tracks will feature remixes of their hits and will only cost $4.99 with any regularly priced menu item.

July 20, 2000 - A reader emailed Ted Casablanca asking about Christina Aguilera's thinness, which Ted normally has a problem with. He saiys "Christina should eat a bit more. But you'll have to agree Britney's eating enough for both of them."

July 20, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports today that Justin becomes literally catatonic during Britney's performances and needs to be asked several times to move because he's so mesmerized by Britney at her shows, which Ted reports he's showed up for many on her tour.

July 17, 2000 - Britney Spears is featured in Star Shots in Star magazine this week. The tabloid says she looks 'defensive' in this pose because of breast implant rumors.

July 17, 2000 - The Enquirer is reporting that Britney's mom invites kids who sneak onto their property in to look at pictures of her, although we've heard that Britney told her to stop doing this...

July 16, 2000 - The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Britney and Justin were seen at a showing of the movie Me, Myself and Irene  when they were in town Thursday. They also were accompanied by a bodyguard and weren't bothered, they report.

July 15, 2000 - Z104 reports a rift between Christina and Britney, where Britney reportedly said "I am much prettier and sexier than Christina." and Aguilera responded by saying "Well at least I can sing."

July 15, 2000 - Britney's mother comments on the engagement rumors in her latest diary entry: "And as much as Lynn loves Brit and I love Justin, they like each other alot, but not enough to be more than good friends. So, in other words, NO THEY ARE NOT ENGAGED. Trust me, I do know this for a fact, even though the papers might imply that I don't!"

July 15, 2000 - Britney's scheduled performance at Red Rocks in Denver was canceled today. The July 26th show was dropped because the production apparently is too big for the stage at Red Rocks.

July 15, 2000 - Cashing in on her friends fame, Felicia Culotta is out with a book stuffed with pictures entitled BRITNEY: Every Step of the Way. The book has 204 photos and Felicia reveals an intimate look at Brit's life and career from her first mall appearance to her sold-out arena shows today.

July 15, 2000 - *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Joe, and Sisqo will take part in a press conference at a McDonald's located on Grays Ferry Avenue in Philadelphia at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday (July 20). The 4 acts got big bucks to pitch McDonalds burgers. McDonalds also is putting out make three new CDs and a home video of the bunch.

July 14, 2000 - Worldpop reports that Britney's road crew played a pratical joke on her by adorning her tour bus with cans on strings and wrote 'Just Married' on the bus.

July 14, 2000 - MSNBC's Jeannette Walls reports Britney is agressively persuing Prince William for when she performs in London later this summer. An insider told her “Britney thinks it would be just too perfect. Even her name would work! Think of it: England’s Princess Britney! Plus, she’s made a big deal about remaining a virgin, which is very important if you’re going to marry the heir to a throne.”

July 14, 2000 - The Sun had a story about former MMC cast members and rated them by order of success (in their opinion!), Britney was on top, followed by Christina and Justin.

July 12, 2000 - Cindy Adams of Pagesix.com reports that Britney's tour bus is filled with multicolored lollipops, her favorite candy.

July 12, 2000 - Well we knew it was coming, rumors hit G Spot message boards today that Justin's marriage to Britey is a 'shotgun wedding' and that Britney is pregnant after finally agreeing to have sex wit Justin. [we think the bulls*** meter is at 100% on this one]

July 12, 2000 - In a poll strange enought that even we can admit not thinking of asking it, Worldpop reports a 1000 person survey of US teens indicates 64% would dare ask Britney about her breast implants, or lack thereof.

July 11, 2000 - More details about Britney's 'Spoiled Diva' article in the Star. The tabloid reports Britney demands Lucky Charms cereal, with only the marshmallows, meaning somebody has to pick out the cereal for her. She also commands a sno-cone machine, air hockey table (which she doesn't even play, it's just for Justin when he comes to concerts), a tanning bed, and a Pilates exercise machine. An insider told the tabloid "Every whim of hers is answered..." and "Her wish is everbody else's demand."

July 11, 2000 - Jessica Simpson floated some backhanded compliments to Britney in a recent story in an Australian newspaper. She's quoted as saying "Britney's sold 20-something million. That's a phenomenon. You can't compare yourself to that or you're just going to be disappointed" adding "Other people might do it through a dance routine, I do it through my voice. It's so important that my vocals are respected. It's not about image."

July 11, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Britney and Justin Timberlake meet regularly at the her Louisiana home, where a neighborhood of Britney reveals "I know Justin has jetted in here a few times on his own so he can stay with Britney and her family. 
They get on really well and he gets a plane to the local airport, where Britney's dad picks him up. Britney's dad loves him and refers to him as a 'superstar.'"

July 11, 2000 - Pagesix.com reports that Britney Spears left a $20 tip after getting her Jeep Cherokee fueled up at the Hess station in Wainscott after a concert.

July 10, 2000 - Jay Leno tonight joked about Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake getting married by saying "Sorry guys, he's taken." He also said it would be the only wedding in history where both bride and groom lip-synch their wedding vows.

July 10, 2000 - Worldpop reports Mandy Moore may have taken a stab at pop rival Britney Spears when she said "I don't think it's completely normal to be around your parents 24 hours a day, especially for a teenager." In reference to Spear's relationship to her mother.

July 10, 2000 - Britney Spears and *NSYNC label Jive Records today released the following statement: "Contrary to what has been erroneously reported, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are neither engaged nor married. The story, which began in the British tabloid 'News Of The World,' is, not surprisingly, completely without merit."

July 10, 2000 - Britney Spears was discussed on eYada.com with Amy from Teen People. They talked about how her willingness to spoof herself and the breast implant rumors on SNL was a great move on her part and they thought alot of her
peers wouldn't have been able to do something like that.

July 10, 2000 - On top of the marriage rumors about Justin, another British tabloid, The Sun, reports Spears would love to marry Prince William, saying "I would love that, after all, who wouldn't want to be a princess?" She told the paper that she's starting to become more attracted to guys her age after chasing Ben Affleck and cooing for Brad Pitt.

July 9, 2000 - Justin Timberlake reportedly was on a Cincinnati radio station tonight denying rumors he and Britney are getting married, according to BritneySpears.org message board posters. The gist of his comments are "This has really gotten out of hand, me and Britney are not dating much less getting married."

July 9, 2000 - Because of the news about Britney and Justin, we've ended our last poll early. I believe the 85% who voted yes to Britney's breasts being enhanced was partially victim to a cheater, but even so, a clear majority believe the rumor started by Rolling Stone / National Enquirer. July 8, 2000 - Reaction to the Britney and Justin marriage proposal news is sending shockwaves through Justin message boards, some sample quotes: "OMG no this cant be happenig! I hate her! she is such a slut! This has to be a rumor!" from nsynclips0. July 8, 2000 - More on the Britney / Justin proposal from Newsoftheworld.co.uk as friends told the paper "They were in a cafe [in New York] having a coffee when Justin pulled out this ring—Britney was left speechless." The engagement ring reportedly set Timberlake back $50,000. A friend of Justin's was quoted as saying "It’s all very exciting. They may only be teenagers but they haven’t got any money problems." [note: remember only British tabloids have reported this story so far]

July 8, 2000 - NEWS FLASH: Britney Spears has reportedly accepted a marriage proposal from Justin Timberlake, according to Britain's News of the World newspaper Sunday. The paper says the two haven't set a date yet and are taking thinks slowly.
