night, Christina Aguilera was spotted at a New York strip club -- it's

of the club immediately denied the story 'cause he was worried Aguilera
would ruin the strippers' reputations."

not snickering... I never slept with a white guy." Jay said, "No, but see,

October 30, 2002 - Craig
Seymour of Entertainment Weekly reviewed Christina Aguilera's new album
'Stripped', giving it a grade of C+. Seymour says the new album "comes
off like a desperate bid for musical relevance" and has "a cluttered patchwork
purse of sounds." He added, "Aguilera's performance seems genuinely aching.
Unlike other singers with her range, she seldom tries to sound ethereally
pretty (Mariah Carey) or overly controlled (Whitney Houston) --- but she's
not afraid to revel in her own vocal power." Read more.
October 30, 2002 - The Atlanta
Journal-Constitution reports a decade-old push by mass marketers to erase
the stigma attached to being "dirty" is gaining momentum. "When I hear

South [rap lingo], Dirty Girl beauty products, dirty denim and now Christina
[Aguilera's] new song," said Ashley Strahan, a second-year fashion merchandising
student at Bauder College in Buckhead. "To me, 'dirty' is more fun than

insists that all is going according to plan with Christina Aguilera's new
album. ''Christina was sure about how she wanted to present herself, and
we have to respect the artist,'' Gottlieb told the Boston Globe. ''The
only disappointment we have is that it hasn't done as well at radio as
we believe it should have. As far as what else 'Dirrty' has done? People
are talking about the song and the video. I mean, this is the umpteenth
interview I've done about her image. People know Christina is back.'' Read
more.
October 30, 2002 - Trace
Gallagher of Fox News spoke with Christine Aguilera who gets down and dirty
in her latest video of her latest release 'Stripped', completing her transformation
of her girl next door of a few years back. "There are so many people, 'It's
like a complete 360, wow, what is she doing? What is she trying to be?'
If anything, what was I trying to be before? You know, that's what I've
saying I'm so happy this really does speak for me and it is me." And the
21-year-old ex-Mouseketeer's comparisons to another club member, Britney
Spears, helped Aguilera to define herself in another way. "That playing
it safe, cookie-cutter virginal kind of fame that I really saw, after a
little while of being superficial and fake, and like I wasn't being true
to myself."

Aguilera tells the Associated Press that she had to battle with her RCA
Records label to raunch up her image in her new video for 'Dirrty'. "The
label wanted to push the cookie-cutter, kind of play-it-safe, almost virginal

from that, because I really thought it was really fake and superficial
and untrue of what I was about, and it was really really hard for me to
live up to that anymore." Read more.

Smith Lindall of the Chicago Sun-Times reviewed the B-96 Halloween Bash
at the Allstate Arena on Thursday night, which included a performance by
Christina Aguilera. Lindall said, "Aguilera's appearance strengthened her
claim to the title of pop songstress who can actually sing. Her pyrotechnic
prowess was on display in 'Impossible,' a bluesy jam that she penned with
fellow charttopper Alicia Keys. And when her canned backing track began
to skip in the middle of 'Beautiful,' Aguilera didn't melt down. 'Stop
the track, stop the track,' she demanded off-mike, and then sang a verse,
chorus, bridge and several refrains entirely a cappella." Read more.
October 26, 2002 - Amy C.
Sims of Fox News reports that with pop stars now entering their 20s, many
are eager to shed their adolescent image. *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake
and his Backstreet Boys counterpart Nick Carter each are releasing their
debut solo albums and are trying to shed the sweet for sultry. "Fourteen-year-olds
are over Justin, but women in their 20s now think he's hot," said Atoosa
Rubenstein, editor of Cosmo Girl. On the female side, Britney Spears and
Christina Aguilera have each sexed up their images, which may turn off
some teens. "As Britney has changed her image, there is a direct correlation
with her drop in popularity," said Rubenstein. "Aguilera's new video is
one step away from pornography. Teenage fans feel alienated by the new
image -- they can't bring it home." Read more.

October 26, 2002 - Alyssa
Vitrano of YM.com caught up with Christina Aguilera and asked the singer
to clear up the whole fued with Eminem. "The reason why he got so mad,
and why he retaliated so harsh at me, was partly because he was trying
to separate himself from whole pop MTV thing and he saw me on this MTV
show choosing my 10 top videos," Slim said. "I guess he got really angry
because I chose 'Stan' as one of my favorite videos — I thought [Eminem]
was a really cool rapper — but [then I realized] that song was about killing
his wife. I heard that and was just like, that's not cool. It's a personal
issue. Watching what my mom had to go through, I don't take that stuff
lightly. [Christina grew up with a father who was violent toward her mother.]
I wasn't dissing him, but I said my piece — I told girls out there not
to put up with a guy's sh**. I guess he heard that, because I heard him
talk about it when he dissed me in an interview. How cliché is that?
Like you get mad at a girl for speaking her mind — it's so high school."

hip-hop fan, so that's going to come out more in my music," Aguilera says.
She cites 'Dirrty', featuring Redman, as "the hardest, most beat-driven

gritty and street with my friends. And not worrying about looking pretty,
or caring who's around." Read more.

October 24, 2002 - Industry
insiders are weighing in on Christina Aguilera's dramatic image change

her raunchy rebirth as a negative. "Adolescent hormonal boys are watching
it, sure," said one exec to the New York Post. "But what about the 13-year-old
girl whose parents won't buy it?" As for Aguilera's bragging of her clitoral
piercing, a record honcho guessed, "I don't think anybody at her label
is happy about something like that." It seems Aguilera is difficult for
RCA to control though, as a source revealed, "It's my way or the highway
with her," noting that she had already fired former manager Steve Kurtz.

she's working the lower register. On 'Make Me Over,' it's a thrill to hear
the caterwauler sounding like she's just woken up. While the lyrics plow

Kit of the Hollywood Reporter and Clay Phillips of Access Hollywood debated
whether Christina Aguilera's new image is "too sexy" to Access Hollywood.
Kit commented, "She's not doing anything, come on, she's always had a sexy

but you know, sex sells and as long as she's got the voice to back it up,
I don't think it's gonna be a problem." Phillips countered, "I don't think
it works for her. I don't think she needs it. If she couldn't sing. If
she didn't have a voice, than whatever darling. Go do what you need to

was a big fan for quite a while, and he did a song called 'Lets Get Dirty'
which was a huge hit, and I love that song, and experienced kinda the club
life myself, being 21, turning 21 I wanted my 1st single to have that sorta
hip-hop clubbing feel, so I called up the same producer, Rockweiler, and
he gave me a track which was kinda similar, so I played up to the similarities

-- just my way of makin' it kind of personal and say it a bit differently
if you want to go there." After the comment, Carson Daly seemed to echo
those thinking Aguilera misstepped with 'Dirrty', and that the album as
a whole is excellent. "I heard her new album it is excellent," he said.

called 'Beautiful' like gigantic when everybody talked about 'Stan' from
Eminem.

they don't like each other, and so she's got this big Bentley that she
drives around in, so Kelly picked her nose and put boogers on all the handles."
Sharon says Aguilera, like other "kiddie bands" have "become idiots. They

not. I think it's overall a pretty powerful, uplifting, positive record."

Christina never said a word. Christina's manager, [his] wife and Christina's
boyfriend did all the talking. I noticed when my co-worker asked Christina
a question directly, Christina never answered. Someone always spoke up,

she leaves nothing to the imagination. There’s a difference between being
erotic and being plain tasteless, and Aguilera has not only crossed the
line but has set up her entire household in the tasteless territory." Read

has emerged in an effort to get Christina Aguilera's new video for 'Dirrty'
off MTV. The petition states, "We the normal, civilized people that we
are, should ban Christina Aguilera latest slut fest video 'Dirrty'. This
should not be aired to kids on MTV! Some of the things shown in the video
are sexual dance moves (Christina pounces up and down on a mans crouch;
She is show wearing almost nothing - having girls touch her sexually; She
has a big 'shower scene' in the video where her and tons of girls are taking
a shower almost naked together, rubbing each other suggestively), almost
a orgy, nudity (We can see Christina's butt under a skirt) and the songs
content is needless to say dirty." Check out the petition, and sign if
you agree, here.

October 2, 2002 - An e-mail
request campaign to try and resuscitate life back into Christina Aguilera's
'Dirrty' track appears to have backfired on a the end 107.9 in Sacramento.
Nighttime DJ Chris K. writes to an e-mailer in Peru, "Please tell me where
you are hearing that we don't play 'Dirrty'? We do play the song, granted
not much, because it is not a hit. I am getting very irritated from these
pointless e-mails from people who don't even listen to our radio station.
Your e-mails will not get the song played more on our radio station. I
couldn't care less about what people outside of Sacramento say about the
song, I only care about our listeners and it appears that they don't particularly
like the song. So please tell your fan group or whoever is behind all these
e-mails to please stop." Read more.

has blasted pop peer Christina Aguilera, though she says she wouldn't tell
it to her face, unless provoked. "Christina Aguilera is one of the most
disgusting human beings in the world. She is despicable for so many reasons.
She has an amazing voice, but that doesn't change the fact she's one of
the world's biggest co**s. She looks like a fu**ing drag queen." But would
she tell Aguilera if she ran into her? "I don't like arguing," she said.
"I'd probably ignore her. But if she said something to me, I wouldn't hesitate
to tell her what I think of her."
