September 30, 2003 - A fan
on Christina Aguilera's forum at LiveDaily.com caught Good Charlotte's
Benji and Joel Madden sticking up for Christina Aguilera after Evanescence
singer Amy Lee insulted Christina and Britney Spears to Steppin' Out magazine.
mario25 writes, "Okay I was watching the rock countdown last night anyway
Benji was talking about Amy Lee and her remarks about Christina. He basically
said that the guys should be the judge on whether Christina is a slut he
said that Christina is not the Queen of Mac Nasty and that Amy should be
concern about her own career and leave Christina alone. Joel
said he dislike other girls bringing other girls down. Benji also said
he is going to ask Christina to marry him. He was joking of course but
it was funny and sweet the way he said it. But he dissed Amy in a classy
way."
September 30, 2003 - Britain's
Daily Star Sunday reports Christina Aguilera has been contacting Pop Idol
champ Will Young, eyeing a relationship perhaps with the gay singer. "She
really liked the look of Will and thinks he's got a great voice too," an
insider said after the two met during an appearance on Top of the Pops.
"She just wanted to say hi and register her interest. She said they got
on really well and swapped numbers and that Will seemed like a really nice,
genuine kind of guy. She wants him to come and stay at her place in LA
and Will told her he'd like to." Young is worried though that he might
be a heartbreaker if he were to reveal her sexual preference to Aguilera.
"I guess I'm going to have to be straight with Christina," Young reportedly
told a pal. "She keeps texting me and inviting me over and I do want to
go. But as much as she's a good-looking girl I think I'll just have to
drop it into conversation next time we speak. I hope she isn't too let
down."

September 28, 2003 - Evanescence
singer Amy Lee is again speaking out on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
She told Steppin' Out magazine's Chaunce Hayden: "Britney Spears doesn't
rock. She's a mechanical pop robot, OK? Basically she's a puppet. Although
Britney Spears isn't as bad as Christina Aguilera when it comes to showing
skin... Christina shows a lot more. They both seem to be competing with
each other... It doesn't offend me. It's just tragic. It's really sad."
Her advice for the pair? "Don't feel like you have to sell sex just to
get people to listen to you."

September 28, 2003 - Apparently
Christina Aguilera is no fan of the hard-partying Tara Reid. When the singer
attended the Shane Mosely vs. Oscar de la Hoya after party at Rumjungle
on September 13th, she let out an "evil snicker" when she saw Reid's face
on Razor magazine's cover for the month, which was blown up to poster size
(they were hosting the bash). When a waiter approached to take Aguilera's
drink of water, she sneered, "I'll take a bottle if you burn that cover
of Tara Reid. Burn that poster to the floor."
September 28, 2003 - 'American
Idol' champ Kelly Clarkson spoke with The Daily Telegraph about how Christina
Aguilera was upset that she performed her co-written hit song 'Miss Independent'.
"Somebody gave me this song, and it was half done and I was, like, cool,"
she said. "The hook sort of had this Christina Aguilera spirit, but nobody
ever told me. I think they were kind of nervous that I wouldn't want it
because of that, but I think that is completely preposterous because if
it's a good song, I don't care." Besides, Aguilera is getting financial
gain from the track. "She is getting paid a lot of money for not even doing
it, so I mean she's probably loving it," Clarkson said.

had to get ready on her tour bus after failing to get a hotel suite in
the Denmark capitol.

September 24, 2003 - In reaction
to Madonna kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the MTV Video
Music Awards, Katherine Sheriff of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes:
"Besides the obvious product, what is the recent spark of bisexuality selling?
It's the image of Hollywood desire -- the media's version of the perfect
woman. The media is gradually pushing all females into becoming the stereotypical
sexual fantasy of males. Britney, Christina, Madonna -- all defining fashion,
beauty and what's sexy at the moment. Bisexuality is a striking example
of the image the media are instilling in impressionable young women. To
be attractive, we must be thin, we must be tan, we must have ample chests,
but now we must also be sexually open and willing to kiss girls. Eventually,
the ideal picture of attractiveness will be that of a porn star." Read

September 24, 2003 - Christina
Aguilera, who has started her tour of Germany in Hamburg, told German paper
Netzeitung: "It's important to me to be open and honest and for me to say
that sex is a beautiful thing. I like having sex. It's fun. And I shouldn't
be made to feel guilty about that. Sex is a very natural activity. As a
woman it's especially important to be open and say what you think about
sex. I find it completely unfair that a girl who likes sleeping with different
boys is called a slut whereas a boy who gets lots of girls into bed is
seen as a stud and a hero." Read more.
September 23, 2003 - A blind

pretty pop princess is investigating her Sapphic tendencies off stage as
well as on? So say my sources in the dirty girl’s entourage who tell me
that her first order of business when hitting a new city is finding the
hot gay spots where the beautiful people hang out. Although she knows better
than most what a girl wants, she prefers watching rather than actually
participating. Sometimes she watches in person, but more often than not
she has an assistant surreptitiously video tape these encounters. After
all, the last thing she’d wanna be is obvious."

September 19, 2003 - Fleetwood
Mac singer Stevie Nicks tells Nui Te Koha of the Herald Sun that she was
angered seeing Britney Spears and Madonna kissing at the MTV Video Music
Awards. "First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is
22," Nicks said. "And Britney should be smarter than that. Hopefully, she
will figure a way out of this hole she has dug for herself." She also had
some advice for the forgotten member of that kissing trio, Christina Aguilera.
"I personally have never been to a strip club, but I turn on MTV and see
in every single video what it must be like to be at a strip club," Nicks
said. "I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no mystery, then you
aren't even sexy. Real sexuality and sensuality is in the music, and all
these girls, vis-a-vis, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and on and on,
should go back to writing songs and start over because it won't last and
they won't last. When they are 55, they won't be around and that's sad
because I think a lot of those girls are very talented. But they are signing
their own death warrants." Read more.

September 16, 2003 -
The woman who won the Christina Aguilera look-alike contest posted a message
on the singer's official fan forum on Sunday, explaining her decision to
sell the autograph photo prize that she won. Tara-Renee writes, "Hey y'all,
yes, I am the one who won the contest, and yes I sold the autographed picture
on ebay, and yes, it was for a medical emergency whether you believe it
or not. I have been a huge Christina fan since she first entered the music
scene. If you would have seen the 20 pics I sent in for the contest (yes,
20) you could definitely see that, and I was absolutely thrilled to receive
a real autographed picture of Xtina. I did not enter the contest intending
to sell anything I won, I was looking forward to anything I won, if I did
win. But at that time, I was not as sick and my family and I were not desperate
for money. Even Christina's #1 fan would have sold the picture for money
if they were in a desperate situation like I am now. I have been ill for
the past 5 months, have been to 8 doctors/neurologists/specialists and
the ER countless times, and they can't figure out what's making me sick.
Antibiotics are not helping, so my only option is to buy the best natural
supplements fit specifically for my problems, and the $166. I received
for the picture may not go a whole long way, but it might be enough to
keep me from developing any further and more serious diseases." Read more.

she can do that all day long. It doesn't -- it doesn't bother me. But if

'Miss Independent' was one of those to be saved for later." Read more.

Aguilera's mother Shelly Kearns responded to a fan's letter to her daughter

hand of her ex-husband, Fausto Aguilera. Shelly then revealed for the first
time that Fausto is continuing to attack the pair in the form of angry
letters. "When you hear her sing about her memory of being thrown up against
those stairs at age 4... you can really relate," Kearns said. "She was
thrown across the room trying to protect me, her mouth bloodied because
she made too much noise, thrown from bottom to top of a staircase (what
she sings about) because she crossed the street once without permission
at age 4 1/2 and afterward, he grabbed one of those toy shopping carts
and threw it at her, me grabbing him and pulling him away the whole time.
And now he's writing me 5 page letters telling me that WE are, and I quote,
'filled with evil hatred' that God cannot love... that we can't have the

Musto of the Village Voice is sarcastically weighing in on the kisses Madonna
shared with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. He writes, "Let me drop
the sarcasm for a second and join the chorus of titillated tongue waggers
who said that Madonna's kisses with Britney and Christina were the sexiest,
most shocking, most provocative things to turn up on MTV in decades. Oh
my God, it was simply the most eye-opening, alarming, thrilling, fantastic
happening in all of TV history! In fact, the smooches were so spontaneous,
heartfelt, and most of all, artful, I think they changed minds, lifted
hearts, dropped jaws, and with shattering openness and honesty, moved society
forward a few thousand years. Kidding—I fell asleep halfway through."
September 8, 2003 - The Daily
Star reports Christina Aguilera confronted Britney Spears at a Hollywood
nightclub and accused the singer of moving in on her image after the pair
shared a same-sex kiss with Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards in an
attempt to boost record sales. "Christina was pretty furious that she'd
unwittingly helped to vamp-up Britney's career," an assistant for Spears
said. "They had some pretty strong words in the club and there was some
bad blood. Luckily, Britney managed to calm Christina down and explained
that it was good for her as well. Christina eventually realized that and
was even talked into doing it again next year."

September 7, 2003 - Christina
Aguilera fans are furious after the media has focused only on the kiss
between Madonna and Britney Spears at last weeks' MTV Video Music Awards,
while ignoring their hero's kiss with the Material Girl. A petition on
the subject states: "MTV was so concerned with getting Britney’s ex-boyfriend’s
reaction on television because they want to start more gossip when they
don’t realize that their relationship is over! People hardly even noticed
that Christina Aguilera and Madonna kissed because MTV only showed the
very end of it on TV. Everybody is talking about Britney and Madonna kissing
and the two of them are getting so much publicity on entertainment news
shows as well as radio shows, while Christina gets barely any because nobody
had the chance to see it. There is also another downside to MTV’s editing
for Christina. One of the things this performance was supposed to do was
end the bogus feud between Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera that the
media has dragged out since the two of them came onto the scene. When Christina
enters the stage, you can clearly see her blow Britney a kiss right before
she starts singing. Another thing MTV decided to cut out of the show was
at the end of the performance when Britney blew a kiss back to Christina.
It is not fair that MTV cut these two key points for Christina out of the
performance. Every year MTV edits their award shows to show the highlights
the live cameras may not have put on the air. If you want to see these
highlights worked into the multiple replays of this year’s Video Music
Awards, sign this petition. Thank you." Check out the petition here.

Aguilera's mother Shelly Kearns defended the official fan club forum's
strict moderation today, and even advised those that want to post negative
remarks about her daughter to post them here on popdirt.com. Kearns wrote,
"These are the OFFICIAL forums. This fact alone is what makes all the difference
in the world. The difference is this: I intended on creating a place for
Christina's true, supportive fans to come to share interests and information
and common support for Christina (and for each other!) together.... a place
where they don't have to worry about the usual nasty, mean spirited people
or even the negativity and critical atmosphere that we all have to put
up with at fan based or non official forums. That isn't necessary, and
in an official forum, there is no excuse." For those that disagree, she
advised, "Remember... Nobody's keeping him from his opinion. That's what
LiveDaily, PopDirt, and any loosely moderated boards are for. Therefore,
Go forth, young man, and express yourself to your hearts desire-----but
do it there, NOT here." Read more.

Aguilera's mother Shelly Kearns responded to news that 'American Idol'
is banning auditioners from performing her daughters songs. "You guys,
don't even give this one a second thought," Shelly reassured. "Usually
when this happens, it's actually a huge compliment! There's got to be a
lot of people out there doing those songs for it to be a problem. Also,
(and I'm just guessing here), after the producer went behind Christina's
back and gave the song she wrote to Kelly Clarkson, I'd imagine American
Idol folks might shy away from her songs because they might be afraid the
same thing would happen over again. Simply easier to avoid all the way
around. Plus, shows like this--or any situation where you hear tons of
people trying out for parts--often restrict the super overly chosen songs
because it gets really hard for the people doing the auditioning." Read

tour beginning in February. Shelly writes, "Hey folks, I've been hearing
from a lot of you about some nonsense concerning a repeat USA tour in Feb.
The only show dates we have in Feb. are in Latin America, not the USA."

September 4, 2003 - Jon Bream
of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reviewed the Justified and Stripped Tour,
which ended Tuesday night (September 2) at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Bream says of Christina Aguilera's performance: "While Aguilera preaches
female empowerment in her lyrics, she pranced around in suggestive male-fantasy
outfits that were probably the nightmare of many of the mothers who brought
their daughters to Xcel. At times, her voice was as distracting as her
outfits. She has undeniably powerful pipes, but she overdid the vocal gymnastics
on Etta James' 'At Last' and 'The Voice Within'." As for *NSYNC star Justin
Timberlake, he remarked, "Timberlake impressed as a confident, natural
performer who moves without thinking about it. Sure, many of the moves
were choreographed (often in unison with eight dancers) but he's like watching
an old Fred Astaire movie recast into a hip-hop/soul arena extravaganza."

September 4, 2003 - The New
York Post reports Christina Aguilera checked out Plaid for their weekly

getting into it," Aguilera requested to new pal Lapore. The 'Dirrty' singer

September 3, 2003 - Randi
Cardia, who lives in Manhattan and has two teenage daughters, described
to the New York Times a majority of the clothes offered for them as "hooker
wear." She fumed, "There are a lot of us out there that are just appalled
that someone hasn't taken a stand." The "stand" she refers to is a stand
against what she called "disgusting role models" like Britney Spears and
Christina Aguilera. "It's normal now to see these 12-year-old or younger
girls trying to be Britney and Christina, with their pierced bellybuttons,
their tiny little tube tops, their strappy shoes and their shorts" showing
the tops of their buttocks, said Cardia, who, discouraged by the current
run of back-to-school offerings, shops with her daughter at stores that
cater to boys. Read more.
September 3, 2003 -
Mark Harrison of the Cornell Daily Sun added his name to those commenting
on the kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears and Madonna and Christina
Aguilera at last week's MTV Video Music Awards. Harrison writes, "Witnessing
Madonna, Britney and Christina -- whom I will henceforth refer to as Mabritguilera
-- playing tongue-tag was like watching any one of the three make out with
herself. It was like a dream that had come too true, and it made me realize
that most American sex symbols are basically interchangeable parts of similar
fantasies." Read more.

there."
September 3, 2003 - Anonymous
writes "Christina Aguilera's fan club, Xposed, apparently, isn't giving
"what fans want." Ever since Xposed opened up a little over 6 months ago,
nothing but problems arose from it. Many membership kits were not being
sent out and many fans are complaining about the ridiculous prices they've
set for joining and for merchandise." Read more.
September 2, 2003 - Amy Lee
of Evanescence was on 104 FM in Washington DC with Haber and Erin and weighed
in on today's crop of pop divas. "There are so many of these stupid pop
divas that are really going down lately," Lee said. "They're going down,
they really are. It's not the big thing anymore. Like Britney Spears and
all that, they don't threaten me, they don't bother me because they're
not talented... But Christina Aguilera, for example, is really talented.
I think she has an amazing voice. I listened to that 'Stripped' CD, and
I think the songs and her vocals are amazing. And I am so pissed off at
her for being the 'Queen Filthy McNasty' because she doesn't have to be.
She could totally be like Aretha Franklin or something. She could rely
on that talent and do great. She's that talented so I think she could be
really successful without completely making it like a porn star." Lee also
said she was "so pissed off" about the direction Jewel has gone on her
new album. Listen to the entire interview here.

September 1, 2003 - The Daily
Star reports that Britney Spears was the brains behind the MTV Video Music
Awards kiss between herself and Madonna, as well as the Material Girl and
her pop rival Christina Aguilera. Spears suggested the saucy stunt to boost
their careers, and Madonna and Aguilera instantly agreed. "We realized
that Britney has been trying to sex-up her image recently, but this was
out of this world," remarked an MTV insider. "She took the girls to one
side at rehearsals and put the idea forward. The other two were more than
happy to take part because they knew how much attention it would get -
and thought it would be a good laugh. But it was a major departure for
Britney because she had this girl next door tag. But she wants to show
she's more of a woman than a girl - and she's certainly showed them that!"
September 1, 2003 - Us Weekly
quotes Christina Aguilera remarking, "I just entered the world of realizing
you can't eat everything you want all the time. I do like having more meat
on my body. I'm very comfortable being thicker."
