November 30, 2003 - Steppin' Out magazine spoke with Dido and asked the singer what she felt about singers such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles, or even now Jewel stripping their clothes to sell albums. "It's weird, isn't it? First of all, I think Christina Aguilera is an amazing talent. I think she has a great voice. But it's weird, isn't it," she said. "Look at Beyonce, who is an extraordinary talent. She writes, she sings, she produces, and she looks incredible. And trust me, I'm a woman and I know it's great to show off every asset you've got. But what I've noticed in this society is that somehow wearing almost nothing has detracted from the other things in other people's eyes.
People see artists like Britney Spears as something less because of it. It's really weird because you would think, well if you look that hot, why can't you show it off and be really sexy? Do you know what I mean?" Read more.

November 30, 2003 - WENN reports that Christina Aguilera has spoken out against her critics, proclaiming herself a "great role model". Aguilera stated, "I consider myself to be a great role model, but everyone has their own idea of what a role model is. When I was showing my navel some years ago, some people thought that was too much and that's so minor compared to a lot of the things that I've done now. But I'm a grown woman and I have a mind of my own. I'm not forcing anyone to dress or act like I do, but this is what I consider my art and my form of release and I think it's beautiful. People who are threatened by that are just very closed minded."

November 27, 2003 - xanthe writes "As a Christina Aguilera fan, when defending my favourite singer I constantly have one line thrown in my face from Britney Spears fans. 'You're Jealous.' But she has a great voice. She should sing more and talk less." As for meeting Madonna on Live with Regis and Kelly, Pink says it was "bizarre", adding, "She was my idol! I told her I was convinced we were never supposed to meet. She thought I was crazy."

November 22, 2003 - Maddfan writes "Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears have always been cordial with each other from the very beginning. They both dismissed rumors of a feud or rivalry between each other, although I believe they both were/are secretly in competition with each other. But if you think about it, the way Christina explained the situation in Blender, Britney kind of gave her the cold shoulder at the VMA rehearsals. Kind of like "I'm the new Queen of pop and I’m best friends with Madonna, ha-ha, I'm not going to talk to you anymore". I know that sounds petty on my part but that’s just the impression I got as I read the article." Read more.

November 22, 2003 - ballersfantasy writes "Brazen, Outrageous & Unrepentant, Christina Aguilera takes no prisoners. Like it or not, she is a force to be reckoned with and so is her over-the-top style, crazy red carpet costumes that no one else even dares to try on. Except for maybe Cher who Christina seems to share a closet with. Style Star takes a look at this talented ex-Mouseketeer who transformed herself from a squeaky clean pop princess to a Dirty diva all before she turned 21. You can watch Style Star on the Style Network on November 30, at 6:00 pm ET."

According to a source, Kelly's mother Sharon called a top MTV exec and yelled, "We're part of the MTV family. How could you allow this?" If the exec didn't cut the scene from the final broadcast, Sharon warned him, "I will bite your balls off," the source added.

November 17, 2003 - Martin Kelly of The Washington Dispatch is furious after watching Christina Aguilera's performance dressed as a nun at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh, Scotland. He said, "The good burghers of the windy city allowed one of the most egregious acts of disrespect for the Catholic Church in recent times, which if repeated on the streets would earn the MTV board prosecution under Scotland’s unfortunately necessary, anti-sectarianism laws." He added, "Miss Aguilera is a cultural phenomenon that has completely passed me by. I can’t name one of her songs, I don’t even know what her voice sounds like. She is a completely closed book, and one that I would prefer did not sully a nun’s habit for the purpose of making an entrance. She may devote her spare time to the performance of good works and small acts of corporal mercy – I am not the keeper of her conscience. However, the boys (and it will be boys) at MTV, the alpha predators at the top of the jungle of the music business, know that if it’s sensational, it will sell. And like greedy trial lawyers, for them it’s all about the money." Read more.

I think I was expecting something better." Read more.

November 17, 2003 - Carolyn Brown of MSNBC weighed in on all the negative remarks top female pop artists have dished out at each other, including Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne, Aguilera and Pink, and more. Brown said, "As awful as it may sound, it could just be girls being girls. Is it not inherently female to be critical of one another? There is no denying it, ladies. Most of you have probably had fights at work with other women, or talked behind their back, muttering a certain adjective — (rhymes with 'witch'). It’s not unusual for women to work against each other in this modern world, instead of supporting one another." She added, "The public may be just as much to blame for the altercations. The sparring matches foster plenty of media attention, and for someone like Kelly Osbourne, who recently got dropped by her record label, it’s much needed attention at that. Could it be that these outrageous divas are staging the entire thing, just for attention?" Read more.

November 17, 2003 - Scans of Christina Aguilera's article in Blender magazine have been posted. In the piece, Aguilera is critical of pop peers Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears. "Look at people like Beyonce or Britney," Aguilera said. "They’re desperate to come across as sweet, good little girls, but then you see them in photo shoots that are extremely sexual—tight little booty shorts, and not much else. So why do they try to be virginal in interviews?" Aguilera then held her finger to her mouth, Lolita-like, and affects a note-perfect Spears impersonation. "'Oh, gosh, I haven’t kissed a boy in I don’t know how long!'" Check out a typed out version of the article here and scans here.

November 16, 2003 - amusicfanofsoul writes "Melissa Rivers reviewed Christina Aguilera's MTV Europe Music Awards opening outfit on E! News Daily. Here is what she had to say: "Everyone's gonna think I'm gonna say something terrible about Christina, well I’m not. Check out that newly toned body she’s got. Remember kids, this is a costume. She is performing at the MTV Europe Music Awards, whatever. Check out the cleavage, flat stomach, great with the brown hair, cleavage working again, no fat working anywhere. If you’ve got the body to ware it, GO FOR IT on stage." Melissa had two freeze-framed pictures on the screen that she drew on to highlight the cleavage, stomach, hair, cleavage again and her legs, indicating no fat anywhere. Then at the bottom it said in bold pink letters, "GO FOR IT!"."

November 16, 2003 - In an interview with Germany's Bravo magazine, Christina Aguilera has again upped her feud with Pink and added a backhanded remark about Madonna. As for the Material Girl performing with her rival Britney Spears, instead of perhaps herself, Aguilera says, "It might sound arrogant, but I don't need her support." She explained, "I still admire her today for what she has achieved. I'd like to have a career like her: sing, act, become a mother someday - however, with one difference - I would like to be successful as an actress, too!" Read more.

November 16, 2003 - ballersfantasy writes "Latina Magazine has named Christina Aguilera their #3 Woman Of The Year. She has been belittled for her revealing clothes, her dirrty lyrics, and even for trying to promote herself as Latina to capitalize on the surging Latin music market. "For a long time, I had been uncomfortable with the image that had been built around me," the Grammy-winning pop star recently said. "I'm not that girl." Instead, she's the kind of mujer (woman) we can respect: one who thrives in a tough industry by letting her music do the talking."

November 11, 2003 - Anonymous writes "We've all witnessed Christina Aguilera's "rebirth" of such, as the former prefabricated star broke the mould to reveal 'the real her'. It's no secret that Christina used to be a 'puppet' like Britney Spears, and she has voiced her distaste for the industry numerous times. With the recent quotes from her Blender magazine story supposedly causing an uproar among her fans, I've heard people saying that it was low of Christina to talk trash about Beyonce Knowles and Britney Spears, and that they hope B and B have 'class' and don't respond." November 11, 2003 - Steve Mckenna of The Glasgow Daily Record weighed in on last week's MTV Europe Music Awards in Glasgow. He says, "I've been to the MTV Awards three times and no matter what the city, it was the same event with just a little local flavor. It was, undoubtedly, a great night for Scotland and our capital and I expect the tourist trade and our credibility will have been boosted. The one thing that wasted the entire event for me was host Christina Aguilera. I thought she did a great job and was slick and professional, but the event was as she warned 'dirrty'. I love adult entertainment but I also know a name for people who use it to entice young children." Read more.

The preview for next month's Blender magazine reads: "What does it take to become Blender's woman of the year? November 8, 2003 - The Sun reports Pink told MTV Europe Music Awards producers she wouldn’t go on stage if hostess Christina Aguilera mentioned her name, making it impossible for her rival to introduce her. She was overheard shouting to aides: "If that bitch mentions my name once I’m not going on stage — and I’m not kidding." An insider at BMG, where both artists are signed, remarked, "It was a bit difficult but we managed to get away with it. Pink was adamant Christina should not mention her name or she would upset the whole show by not coming out to perform at the end. It might sound like a silly threat but, believe me, Pink has the courage of her convictions. She doesn’t like being told what to do and no amount of pressure from us could change that. We struck a deal with MTV before the show that Christina wouldn’t introduce Pink for her performance. There really is no love lost between them." Read more.

November 8, 2003 - MTV News has a run-down of Thursday night's MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh, Scotland. *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake won three trophies, while Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles took home two. But the big story of the night was the on-stage verbal sparring between host Christina Aguilera and her less successful rival Kelly Osbourne. During the pre-show, Aguilera refused to walk the red carpet if Osbourne — a guest VJ for the event — was present. Kelly responded by called Aguilera's music "crap" and saying she was a "cow." Then later during the awards, a skit was aired of Aguilera throwing darts at a board decorated with a picture of Osbourne. This irked the Ozzy offspring, who voiced her disapproval when she came onstage to present an award. "If Christina Aguilera has to resort to throwing darts at my head after everything she's achieved and everything she's done, then she's a really sad, sorry person," Kelly said. "And I take it as a complete compliment." Aguilera later retorted with a voice of mock sympathy: "Honey, if you can dish it out, you've got to learn how to take it back." Read more.

Pink told The Glasgow Daily Record: "They wanted Christina and me to do it together but it just wouldn't work. It would be fun for me, but I wouldn't want to do it with her because that would take the fun out of it. I dropped out of high school because I hate drama and love music. I just want to get up to sing. I just don't like all the big female diva battles." Pink added that Aguilera "is not very entertaining. Comedians are the best hosts of these shows because you already have all the music people there." But not all is confrontational between the pair. Pink offered the following fig leaf: "But good luck to her. I hope she does well." Read more.

Also banned was Kelly Osbourne, who is in town plugging her sophomore album. A source close to Pink said, "There is no love lost between them and this feud has been bubbling along. They fell out badly after a row on the set of Lady Marmalade and haven’t spoken since. Pink fancied paying Christina a visit because she’s always trying to stir things up. But she realized there might have been an embarrassing situation at the door so decided to turn back at the last minute." Read more.
