November 30, 2003 - Steppin'
Out magazine spoke with Dido and asked the singer what she felt about singers
such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child star Beyonce
Knowles, or even now Jewel stripping their clothes to sell albums. "It's
weird, isn't it? First of all, I think Christina Aguilera is an amazing
talent. I think she has a great voice. But it's weird, isn't it," she said.
"Look at Beyonce, who is an extraordinary talent. She writes, she sings,
she produces, and she looks incredible. And trust me, I'm a woman and I
know it's great to show off every asset you've got. But what I've noticed
in this society is that somehow wearing almost nothing has detracted from
the other things in other people's eyes. People
see artists like Britney Spears as something less because of it. It's really
weird because you would think, well if you look that hot, why can't you
show it off and be really sexy? Do you know what I mean?" Read more.

reports that Christina Aguilera has spoken out against her critics, proclaiming
herself a "great role model". Aguilera stated, "I consider myself to be
a great role model, but everyone has their own idea of what a role model
is. When I was showing my navel some years ago, some people thought that
was too much and that's so minor compared to a lot of the things that I've
done now. But I'm a grown woman and I have a mind of my own. I'm not forcing
anyone to dress or act like I do, but this is what I consider my art and
my form of release and I think it's beautiful. People who are threatened
by that are just very closed minded."

writes "Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears have always been cordial
with each other from the very beginning. They both dismissed rumors of
a feud or rivalry between each other, although I believe they both were/are
secretly in competition with each other. But if you think about it, the
way Christina explained the situation in Blender, Britney kind of gave
her the cold shoulder at the VMA rehearsals. Kind of like "I'm the new
Queen of pop and I’m best friends with Madonna, ha-ha, I'm not going to
talk to you anymore". I know that sounds petty on my part but that’s just
the impression I got as I read the article." Read more.

November 19, 2003 - The New
York Daily News reports Christina Aguilera's bit at the MTV Europe Music
Awards where she threw darts at a board of Kelly Osbourne's face, which
was followed by Osbourne onstage badmouthing Aguilera and getting booed
in the process was edited out of the U.S. re-broadcast and many re-runs.
According to a source, Kelly's mother Sharon called a top MTV exec and
yelled, "We're part of the MTV family. How could you allow this?" If the
exec didn't cut the scene from the final broadcast, Sharon warned him,
"I will bite your balls off," the source added.

at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, the scene of that kiss with
Madonna. Christina is also angry that TV cameras ignored her own kiss with
Madonna but showed Britney’s smooch in full. "MTV didn’t screen my kiss

November 17, 2003 - Martin
Kelly of The Washington Dispatch is furious after watching Christina Aguilera's
performance dressed as a nun at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh,
Scotland. He said, "The good burghers of the windy city allowed one of
the most egregious acts of disrespect for the Catholic Church in recent
times, which if repeated on the streets would earn the MTV board prosecution
under Scotland’s unfortunately necessary, anti-sectarianism laws." He added,
"Miss Aguilera is a cultural phenomenon that has completely passed me by.
I can’t name one of her songs, I don’t even know what her voice sounds
like. She is a completely closed book, and one that I would prefer did
not sully a nun’s habit for the purpose of making an entrance. She may
devote her spare time to the performance of good works and small acts of
corporal mercy – I am not the keeper of her conscience. However, the boys
(and it will be boys) at MTV, the alpha predators at the top of the jungle
of the music business, know that if it’s sensational, it will sell. And
like greedy trial lawyers, for them it’s all about the money." Read more.

November 17, 2003 - Carolyn
Brown of MSNBC weighed in on all the negative remarks top female pop artists
have dished out at each other, including Christina Aguilera and Kelly Osbourne,
Aguilera and Pink, and more. Brown said, "As awful as it may sound, it
could just be girls being girls. Is it not inherently female to be critical
of one another? There is no denying it, ladies. Most of you have probably
had fights at work with other women, or talked behind their back, muttering
a certain adjective — (rhymes with 'witch'). It’s not unusual for women
to work against each other in this modern world, instead of supporting
one another." She added, "The public may be just as much to blame for the
altercations. The sparring matches foster plenty of media attention, and
for someone like Kelly Osbourne, who recently got dropped by her record
label, it’s much needed attention at that. Could it be that these outrageous
divas are staging the entire thing, just for attention?" Read more.
November 17, 2003 - During

November 17, 2003 - Scans
of Christina Aguilera's article in Blender magazine have been posted. In
the piece, Aguilera is critical of pop peers Destiny's Child star Beyonce
Knowles and Britney Spears. "Look at people like Beyonce or Britney," Aguilera
said. "They’re desperate to come across as sweet, good little girls, but
then you see them in photo shoots that are extremely sexual—tight little
booty shorts, and not much else. So why do they try to be virginal in interviews?"
Aguilera then held her finger to her mouth, Lolita-like, and affects a
note-perfect Spears impersonation. "'Oh, gosh, I haven’t kissed a boy in
I don’t know how long!'" Check out a typed out version of the article here

a costume. She is performing at the MTV Europe Music Awards, whatever.
Check out the cleavage, flat stomach, great with the brown hair, cleavage
working again, no fat working anywhere. If you’ve got the body to ware

in bold pink letters, "GO FOR IT!"."
November 16, 2003 - In an
interview with Germany's Bravo magazine, Christina Aguilera has again upped
her feud with Pink and added a backhanded remark about Madonna. "I think
now Pink simply acts unnaturally," Aguilera sneered. "Her rebel thing starts
getting boring to me. Do they still believe her? Well, not me!" As for
the Material Girl performing with her rival Britney Spears, instead of
perhaps herself, Aguilera says, "It might sound arrogant, but I don't need
her support." She explained, "I still admire her today for what she has
achieved. I'd like to have a career like her: sing, act, become a mother
someday - however, with one difference - I would like to be successful

An insider at BMG, where both artists are signed, remarked, "It was a bit

me, Pink has the courage of her convictions. She doesn’t like being told

has a run-down of Thursday night's MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh,
Scotland. *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake won three trophies, while Destiny's
Child star Beyonce Knowles took home two. But the big story of the night
was the on-stage verbal sparring between host Christina Aguilera and her
less successful rival Kelly Osbourne. During the pre-show, Aguilera refused
to walk the red carpet if Osbourne — a guest VJ for the event — was present.
Kelly responded by called Aguilera's music "crap" and saying she was a
"cow." Then later during the awards, a skit was aired of Aguilera throwing
darts at a board decorated with a picture of Osbourne. This irked the Ozzy
offspring, who voiced her disapproval when she came onstage to present
an award. "If Christina Aguilera has to resort to throwing darts at my
head after everything she's achieved and everything she's done, then she's
a really sad, sorry person," Kelly said. "And I take it as a complete compliment."
Aguilera later retorted with a voice of mock sympathy: "Honey, if you can
dish it out, you've got to learn how to take it back." Read more.
