How did someone universally panned as one of the worst dressers on the planet suddenly get to become star guest at the Paris haute couture shows? Truly, the fashion world is a funny place. This leaves me a few questions for some of you that care so much about record sales. Why do you care? The artist, record companies, etc. do care about record sales whether they admit that or not, because to them, it’s a business, it’s the way they make the money and make a living." Read more.

January 26, 2004 -  Anonymous writes "HI, I am anonymous, and I just want to say as anonymous about my opinion on Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. What's the big deal about the two? Why are they always being compared? It's completely pointless to compare, don't you think? Britney was made to become the basic "pop image" or the "whole package" that most of you Britney fans might say. She sticked to pretty much the same pop formula that she can't help but still follow, since it’s what made her famous to begin with." Read more.

January 26, 2004 - Billboard profiled how many of music's reigning divas such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Pink are partying like it's 1999, even though the world has become a darker, more uncertain and more anxious place since Sept. 11, 2001. With the economy in a funk and record sales down for three years running, even established artists are sexing it up - no doubt encouraged by edgy industry executives. The problem is, the public just doesn't seem to be in the mood for it, and the recent mediocre album sales by Spears, Pink and similar artists may reflect a classic case of mismarketing. Read more.

January 4, 2004 - Christina Aguilera is featured in an interview with UK Company Magazine, where she lashed out at her father Fausto and brought some additional heat on Eminem for his lyrical attack on 'The Real Slim Shady'. "That was disgusting, offensive, and, above all, not true," she said of the Carson Daly and Fred Durst oral attack. "If he's going to be immature, that's his thing. I'm not going to feed into it. Whatever. Maybe he did it to make sure he had a hit, even at the expense of using other people's names or dissing them. If that's what you have to do to make a hit record, that's pretty sad. It's pointless to say anything more about a guy who's basically retarded, for lack of a better word. January 1, 2004 - WENN reports Christina Aguilera lived up to her diva reputation at her 23rd birthday in Melbourne, Australia, held at the restaurant Stoke House with her entourage and 40 pals. "She strutted upstairs in this horrendous blue hotpants suit and fishnets with a scowl on her face," a staff member revealed. "She was throwing attitude left, right and center in a 'don't you know who I am?' sort of way. As soon as everyone had sat down, word came from the table that the music was 'crap' and staff were told that Christina would like to hear some hip-hop. Apparently she thought it was all a bit naff and was looking forward to getting back to the States. She just seemed really arrogant. I know she's really famous but there's no reason to put on such a diva display."

January 1, 2004 - Ruth Ann Daily of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette weighed in on Christina Aguilera after the singer visited the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, donating $200,000. She writes, "Promoting hedonism in exchange for personal gain implies a cynicism or thoughtlessness at odds with Aguilera's generous heart. Her monetary gift will immediately change some women's and children's lives for the better, but disavowing the degrading lyrics and images she has lately been selling would be a gift with a reach far beyond Pittsburgh. Perhaps in this new year, new wisdom will lead her to put her mouth where her money is." Read more.
