July 26, 2004 - xreflejo
writes "Some months ago fans and admirers of Britney Spears were mad at
Spears' archrival and fellow popstar Christina Aguilera for making what
at the time seemed to be a negative statement about Britney. But as of
late, Britney has been the poster child of bad judgement and everything
that a respectful girl should not be." Read more.
July
26, 2004 - nanda_lo writes "MTV recently did an interview to Nelly Furtado,
and some fans asked her what did she think of the whole 'pop world' right
now, and what does she think of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
She said that she's clearly been raised in a different way, so she wouldn't
go around and show her body like that at all, but that doesn't take the
fact that she likes their music, especially Britney's. She also said something
like, "I focus more on my music, but hey if you have a body like that then
show it off'.""
July 26, 2004 - The Daily
Star reports that Christina Aguilera was impressed with a $4.86 million
apartment in New York City, but refused to even view it when she discovered
her pop rival Britney Spears was the seller. "Christina was really interested
in the apartment and had told her people to arrange for her to see it,"
a source revealed. "It was only when the appointment was made that someone
mentioned it is Britney's pad. Christina said to forget it, she wasn't
interested in it any more. She wouldn't live in Britney's cast-off if it
was going for free."
July 26, 2004 - Anonymous
writes "Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera have been battling ever since
they started. Britney has been winning. She has had any successful singles
and is the first female artist to have four number one albums in a row.
Yes Christina has been nominated for Grammy's but Britney has won MTV awards,
Teen Choice Awards, and Kids Choice awards. She has also sold about 65
million albums worldwide with Christina selling about 45 million. About
Stripped selling more than In The Zone of course Stripped has sold more
it's been out a lot longer! Christina fans need to think of that." Read

July 26, 2004 - The Mirror
reports that Christina Aguilera will be posing as a naughty nurse and her
injured patient in a sexy new ad campaign for Skechers Footwear, a deal
that saw her replace pop rival Britney Spears. "Britney's marketing appeal
is on the decline - especially after her recent bedraggled outings," said
a Skechers insider. "But Christina is looking better than ever. We're very
happy with her." Read more.

"Australian 'Popstars' runner up Miranda Murphy has released her debut
single and video for her new song 'That Girl'. During the video, she disses
artists such as Madonna, Avril Lavigne, Kylie Minogue, Christina Aguilera,
and Britney Spears -- or at least dresses up as them. Watch the video online

July 26, 2004 - Christina

July 26, 2004 - Neil Sean
of Sky News reports that Christina Aguilera says that her new look means
no more saucy photoshoots for her. "I have grown up now and have no need
to dress like that anymore," she explained. "I want my music to speak for
me rather than the dress or lack of dresses I wore." The first sign of
this will be Aguilera's 2005 calendar, which she described as "fun and
classy". Aguilera added, "I've even ditched all my piercings - it's a new
me."
July 26, 2004 - The Daily
Star reports that Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman have split after
he flew into a rage when Aguilera started to simulate a raunchy strip scene
at Scores and subsequently stormed out of the club. "Christina was having
a whale of a time and I think everyone in there envied her boyfriend -
not many girls are prepared to let their men enjoy that kind of fun," a
source explained. "She seemed pretty secure in the fact that she was still
the main attraction and reacted with giggles and smiles to the girls approaching
her man. But when she started pretending to strip off he looked pretty
pissed. His face froze and he stormed off. She followed straight away."

July 19, 2004 - A dancer
at the New York strip club Scores says she has seen Christina Aguilera
on the premises a few times, and the singer raises eyebrows every time
she comes in. "She's like a guy!" Heather said. "She was definitely teasing
the girls, lifting her clothes up." Aguilera's rep responded, "Christina
goes to strip clubs. She has a boyfriend." Look for more comments from
Heather on the TV special 'Young, Sexy & Spoiled' on the WE channel
Sunday (July 18).
July 19, 2004 - A source
tells The New York Post reports that Christina Aguilera's curly new hairstyle
is designed to cover up her bald spots. "They don't know if it's alopecia,
the disease, or if it's from wearing extensions all these years," the spy
blabbed. "Her hair is falling out. Her new look is supposed to cover up
the hair that she's already lost." Aguilera's rep denied the claim though,
insisting, "It's absolutely not true. There is nothing wrong with her hair."
July 19, 2004 - Anonymous
writes "I'm getting sick of you Britney Spears fans constantly trying to
prove to us Christina Aguilera fans that she sells more than her. Guess
what, WE ALREADY KNOW SHE SELLS MORE THAN HER. We don't need to constantly
have essays shoving it down our throats, and showing us how much time you
have on your hands and how you don't have nothing else better to do than
research record sales and such as if that alone is more important than
talent or more important than listening and enjoying the music. It's just
obvious people. Britney was selling records before Christina even came
out with her first album." Read more.
July 19, 2004 - Anonymous
writes "I've been in popdirt long enough to get really annoyed by Britney
Spears fans and Christina Aguilera fans constantly debating about who sells
more than who. And you know what, it makes all of you look so ridiculous.
You act as if you work for the record company, and act as if record sales
are the only thing worth talking about (when it comes to Britney that is),
and I find that sad." Read more.
July 19, 2004 - Plenty of
parents have butted heads with their teenage daughters over body-baring
fashions flaunted by Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, or Paris Hilton,
but the "prostitots" trend may be changing. 'The Early Show' correspondent
Tracy Smith reports. Watch it at CBSNews.com.
July 19, 2004 - Radio 1 reports
that Christina Aguilera revealed she's taking time off to prepare for a
massive return to the spotlight both musically and in film. "I am taking
this time off to write and record for the next album," she said. "I am
just taking some me time so that I can hibernate at the moment, so that
I can come out again with a bang - a new movie, a new album and conquer
it all over again." Read more.

writes "I’ve been reading articles at Popdirt for a long time now, but
never have gotten into the idea of writing my own. Until now. I keep seeing
these pointless essays about how Britney Spears is “so much better” than
Christina Aguilera simply because of album sales. Let’s get serious for
a second." Read more.

July 19, 2004 - Anonymous
writes "I didn't want to do this, but ANOTHER recent Britney Spears-sells-more-than-Christina
Aguilera essay has made me do it. Can we please get over this debate over
who sells more than who? It's getting more absurd every single day. Comparing
Britney and Christina is just as pointless as comparing Pepsi with Coke,
seriously. Just because Britney sells more doesn't mean she's anything
special or unique. She isn't the only one that has made groundbreaking
records, and years from now there will be someone else that will come along
to sell more than Britney and Christina." Read more.
July 12, 2004 - Anonymous
writes "A few months back I proclaimed (using undeniable facts and figures)
that despite the almost self-deluding rhetoric from the Britney fans, 'In
The Zone' would never catch up in sales with 'Stripped' in the US. Given
that 'In The Zone' is still over 1 million behind in sales, and is dropping
like a rock (it is currently a pathetic #68), I think that point is as
good as proven." Read more.
July 12, 2004 - Us Weekly
quotes Christina Aguilera stating: "At this point in my life, I'm very
self-assured about what I want and where I'm going. I have this quote in
my diary that I stick to: 'I do not intend to tiptoe through life only
to arrive safely at death'."
July 12, 2004 - The Mirror
reports Christina Aguilera was so busy bagging bargains when she opened
the Harrods last month she failed to realize that her passport had gone
missing, sending her assistants into a frenzy before she planned on heading
off to Milan. "There was some confusion as to whether she'd misplaced it
in the UK, or whether it was never brought from the US," a source revealed.
"In the end Christina had to go to the US Embassy and sort out a replacement."

July 12, 2004 - The Pittsburgh
Tribune-Review has new details on why all-night dance party planned for
tonight at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, featuring Christina
Aguilera, was cancelled. An attorney for promoter Antonio DiMarco said
that potentially thousands of ticket holders who paid between $75 and $150
could be among the claimants affected when Larra Corp., doing business
as Customized Connections, provides a full accounting of assets and debts
within 15 days to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Pittsburgh. Aguilera fans
already had to deal with money losses on concert tickets when her official
fan club's operator filed for bankruptcy last year, and swindled many fans
out of expensive ticket packages. Aguilera's publicist Meghan Prophet said
the singer has rested her voice and plans to begin recording in the next
month or two. Read more.
July 12, 2004 - Christina
Aguilera has admitted that she'd like to design her own line of lingerie.
"I want to do a really high-end line with beautiful pieces that are a little
out of the ordinary, a little edgy and so feminine and so beautiful," she
told Women's Wear Daily. Read more.
July 12, 2004 - 'Elements',
an all-night dancing event with Christina Aguilera at the David L. Lawrence
Convention Center, has been canceled. General Manager Mark Leahy said promoter
Antonio DeMarco, citing "extenuating circumstances", pulled the plug on
the late Saturday night/early Sunday morning event, which touted a nightclub
setting with expensive sound systems, laser and light shows, national DJs,
dancers and acrobats. Aguilera was one of several singers on the bill.
"It is no fault of Christina Aguilera's... This was just a nightmare. (The
issue) just came out of nowhere," DiMarco told The Tribune-Review. Read

July 12, 2004 - nr1983 writes
"One of the biggest battles on this chart for as long as I can remember
is the on going battle between Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Fans
on both side always argue that the other is more concerned with sales that
actual talent. Yes, Christina has a great voice, but so does Mariah Carey
and Whitney Houston. They both last there record deal at one point in there
career and are currently trying to revive their career. Mariah writes all
her music, produce, compose. A true talent to be exact. But, just look
at where they both are. Britney on the other hand is not as good of a singer
as Christina, and is constantly mocked for being more of an entertainer
than a real singer." Read more.

writes "Despite what some delusional Christina Aguilera fans may think,
Britney Spears is still more successful than Christina. Well, all you have
to do is to look at the facts. First of all let’s look at album sales.
In The Zone is currently at over 6 million in sales, compared to Christina
Aguilera's 'Stripped', which was at 5.7 million in sales in its 33rd week.
In the USA alone In The Zone has sold more than 'Stripped' in its 33rd
week, In The Zone is currently at over 2.7 million, while Stripped was

they both have great music, and that's the reason I’m a fan of them to
begin with. It just amuses but disturbs me how everyday many of you, both
Britney and Christina fans alike, seem to just idolize one or the other
so much that you have to sometimes lie and exaggerate when it comes to
their record sales, popularity, etc. Let me explain more." Read more.

July 6, 2004 - The Sun reports
Christina Aguilera let slip that she cancelled her 28-gig summer tour because
she wasn't happy with the format, not because singing might effect her
"strained" vocal chords. "I cancelled because it wasn’t the right time,"
Aguilera revealed. "I didn't want to do it badly — and the whole thing

Aguilera was on hand for the opening of Harrods in London on Monday (June
