January 31, 2005 - With the
MTV Asia Awards 2005 being re-cast as MTV Asia Aid, a fundraiser for tsunami
relief, Christina Aguilera's official website has removed any reference
to her hosting the event, which takes place February 3rd in Bangkok, Thailand.
Earlier this month, several reports suggested that Aguilera was to be a
part of NBC's 'Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope' on January 15th, but the
singer was also absent for this event. The pullout and silence on the matter
of tsunami relief has upset some of her fans, with one apparently fabricating
a quote from Aguilera trying to portray her as sympathetic to the situation.
One posted at LiveDaily.com: "Honestly, I'm disappointed in her. And yeah,
the website sucks." Another
added: "I really hope she goes, if not as a host, as a performer. Many
Asian fans will be disappointed if she doesn't and it's such an important
event too." It's not the first time Aguilera has found herself in the middle
of controversy in Thailand, as two posters seen in the video to 'Dirrty'
featured Thai script that translated to read "Thailand's Sex Tourism" and
"Young Underage Girls" — references to Thailand's much-criticized, tourist-driven
sex industry.
January 31, 2005 - Friends
of Jordan Bratman tell The New York Post that he's been shopping around
for the right ring to pop the question to Christina Aguilera. "He's been
making inquiries about rings with different jewelers," a source revealed.
Another source added, "Christina really loves him. She is so happy with
him." Aguilera's rep insisted, "They are not engaged and she is not pregnant."

writes "I understand that you like Christina Aguilera. She has an amazing
voice, that is not often found in such a young performer. She has few contemporaries
that can actually hold a torch to her voice. I just don't understand why
you have to put Britney Spears down to prove how good Christina is. Truly
good artists don't need to be compared to other artists. They have their
own achievements and can shine on their own. It's true that Britney and
Christina were very similar whey they first emerged, but now they are pretty
different." Read more.

writes "There seems to be much debate over who is the biggest in the UK,
out of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. As usual, there really shouldn't
be any need for debate - the facts speak for themselves." Read more.

"For the numerous amounts of flack Christina Aguilera gets, I have this
comment. How can you attack the only young singer who actually has a voice?
Britney Spears, who maybe a "good" dancer (by some standards) she's a half-talent
as an actress, and if we are being honest she can’t sing. The lip-synching
by Britney at her shows is well known, maybe if she didn’t dance and just
sung her heart out once, just once; this mess would finally come to an
end. I for one would love an old fashion talent show of the "singers" nowadays.
While it is highly unlikely to ever happen, one can only dream." Read more.

January 17, 2005 - An insider
spoke with Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com about Britney Spears letter to
Christina Aguilera recently divulged on Britney's official website. "Britney
really wants to get into production and become a major music mogul," the
insider explained of Britney's motive. "She figures that a shrewd businesswoman
needs all the friends she can get — and there's no point having Christina
as an enemy." Read more.
January 17, 2005 - Conan
O'Brien joked during his Late Night monologue on Wednesday night, "This
week, Britney Spears wrote a letter to Christina Aguilera, in which --
[Laughter] Wow. That's the big joke. [Laughter] Everyone's like, 'Ha! She
can't write! [Laughter] How does Conan do it? Where does he think of this
stuff?' It's true. This is all true. This week, Britney Spears wrote a
letter to Christina Aguilera, in which she says she wants to be friends.
Yeah, isn't that nice? [Audience aws] Yeah, I'm not sure Britney's letter's
going to work, 'cause it starts out, 'Dear skank'."
January 17, 2005 - Anonymous
writes "Christina Aguilera is not a flop. A flop would be her music not
even noticing that she's released new music. Clearly seeing as how people
are talking about 'Car Wash' and 'Tilt Ya Head Back' this isn’t the case."

January 10, 2005 - In a new
section on Britney Spears' official website, the singer responds to some
of the tabloid gossip and rumors she comes across. Asked about the media's
never ending talk about a feud with pop rival Christina Aguilera, the site
says, "Britney would love to be close with Christina again. In fact, Britney
recently wrote Christina a letter telling her how happy and beautiful Christina
looks lately." Aguilera had revealed on an episode of 'Total Request Live'
that she had written Spears, but at that time Britney hadn't responded.

writes "In contrast to people saying that Christina Aguilera has been forgotten,
once again, UK proves that it is not real. Being the most popular female
singer in the UK, Christina is in the top twenty for weeks with two singles
even jumps back to top 10 with ‘Tilt Ya Head Back’ which is considered
to be a brilliant song by many critics." Read more.
January 3, 2005 - Christina
Aguilera's mother Shelly Kearns checked in with Briterz on the LiveDaily.com
website after she organized fans to send in their birthday wishes to Aguilera
for her 24th birthday on December 18th. "Yes, I printed the birthday wishes
all out (whew! Lots of paper! *lol*) and she took them with her when she
left," Shelly responded. "She was going to go online & thank everyone,
but my mom went to the ER suddenly which threw all focus, of course, on
her. But all is well. She is totally fine, thank God. Christina was so
very pleased, though, to hear from so many people. How sweet you all are.
It really made her day. Thanks again." Read more.
