May 9, 2006 - Denise Richards is insisting she's not the villain in the love triangle with Heather Locklear and Richie Sambora. Denise told Us Weekly magazine that the whole situation has been very hurtful. The mag's Caroline Schaefer told 'Extra', "She's been portrayed as a home wrecker. And that is not what she is." Locklear was less than pleased with her former buddy Richards. "[Richards] was the one who told Heather to file for divorce," an insider said. "Now it looks like she had an ulterior motive." A friend of Locklear said, "Heather thinks Denise is the worst kind of woman   a backstabber. She wants nothing to do with her ever again."

May 9, 2006 - The New York Daily News reports whatever public sympathy Denise Richards won during her increasingly ugly divorce from Charlie Sheen is speedily evaporating, now that Richards is romancing Richie Sambora, whose 11-year marriage to her best pal, Heather Locklear, is headed for divorce. "There will not be many Denise Richards sympathizers out there right now," said Evan Marc Katz, author of 'Why You're Still Single: Things Your Friends Would Tell You if You Promised Not to Get Mad.' "This behavior pretty much breaks the code."

May 9, 2006 - Denise Richards tells Us Weekly: "I have done my best to try and keep this private. I have no interest in speaking publicly about my marriage. It's unfortunate that the court document became public. This is not what I wanted." But Charlie Sheen's pals are crying foul, noting to The New York Post that Richards and her divorce lawyer could have kept the filing sealed - but they didn't. Sheen's rep, Stan Rosenfield, said, "There was never an attempt to keep the court document private, and in the absence of an effort to seal the document, it was highly foreseeable that it would generate the firestorm of interest that resulted." In addition, Richards' former publicity house, PMK-HBH, reportedly wanted to keep the divorce out of the press, something Richards apparently didn't want to do, so she sacked them in favor of Freud Communications' Matthew Hiltzik.

"I move forward and I maintain my integrity ... and focus on my children," Sheen told Entertainment Tonight co-anchor Mark Steines in an interview for the Paramount Pictures Corp. program to be aired on April 24th.

"All of this is nothing more than child-custody issues," manager Mark Burg tells the New York Post. "This all started because Charlie wanted 50-50 custody ... When Denise said no. Charlie said, 'Then let a judge decide.' The next day, she comes out with a bunch of bull[bleep] claims. Did he gamble on sports? Big deal. Every guy I know does. Show me a guy who hasn't seen porn on the Internet. Does that mean he's not a good father? No. This guy lives for his kids. And she drummed all this up so he can't see his kids. It is the single worst behavior of a parent I have ever seen."
