October 31, 2001 - HitsDailyDouble.com
reports DMX just edged over the 500,000 expected sales for the opening
week of The Great Depression putting the album in the #1 spot by far in
this week's charts. Ja Rule's Pain is Love dropped to #6 with 127,401 and
Jay Z at #12 with 76,620 copies of The Blueprint sold.

31, 2001 - Sarah Rodman of The Boston Herald was on hand at last night's
MonsterJam but unfortunately DMX and Bubba Sparxxx, both scheduled on the
FleetCenter bill didn't. In their place, Eve, Missy Elliot, and Craig David
provided a good show leading up to Sean Puffy Combs.
October 30, 2001 - MTV was
on hand for the Power 99 (WUSL-FM)'s annual concert, PowerHouse in Philadelphia,
which featured a headlining show by DMX. Read more.
October 30, 2001 - Davey
D. put out a new column today with updates on the Coup's Hip Hop Peace
concert at San Francisco's Delores Park this weekend, the latest on DMX
and Dr. Dre's apology too. Check it out here.
October 26, 2001 - Sonia
Murray of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution wasn't impressed with DMX's
latest, "The Great Depression," saying of the rapper's latest work, "DMX's
former bullets are often so sluggish, repetitive and predictable it's as
if they could easily be snatched out of the air." Murray added, "Much of
the rapper's signature energy seems sapped." Read her full review here.
October 25, 2001 - Probably
not a shock to anyone given that the #1 artist in the country this week
is gonna have a hard time getting cities to authorize a free tour where
fans will frantically drive to secret locations at blazing speeds with
crowd sizes being anyone's guess in the process. New York said no way to
DMX's request to play the free show in his home town, according to MTV.com.
He did stop by though in the Big Apple for a autograph session at an HMV

to Katrillion.com about his secret to writing his raps, including such
advice as "Write from the heart" and "Write about real feelings." Check

October 25, 2001 - Hits magazine
suggest early reports indicate DMX's new album The Great Depression will
have 500,000 album sales for the week, putting it solidly in the number
1 spot on next week's album charts. As for this week, Ja Rule's Pain is
Love came in at #4 (151,000 sales) behind the God Bless America tribute
album and Enya's Day Without Rain. Other rap acts in the charts include
Jay-Z at #7 and Bubba Sparxxx falling from #3 to #11.
October 24, 2001 - Reports
from allhiphop.com indicate that K-Solo is coming down on DMX for what
he alleges that X copied his "spelling" style while they were both locked
up. DMX has said he isn't going to bring their beef public to "raise [K-Solo's
career] from the dead." Read more.
October 23, 2001 - The entire
DMX The Great Depression is currently available for streaming on BET.com.
Full versions of all the songs instead of the usual 30 second clips, though
in Read Media format. And yeah, it's DMX, so of course it kicks ass! Listen

October 23, 2001 - The New
York Post profiled DMX Saturday and the rapper admits he's trying to ditch
his bad side saying, "I'm losing the evil. The good and evil [in me] was
always even. I had to keep it even in order to survive. What I'm realizing
is that it doesn't have to be even." Read more.
October 16, 2001 - DMX will
be the subject of BET's next Access Granted episode as they'll preview
the second video from "The Great Depression" entitled "Who We Be." The
DMX episode premieres on BET October 16 at 9 p.m. EST. Click herefor

October 9, 2001 - The New
York Post reports that they've heard DMX showed up at Blender magazine's
cover photo shoot with 20 friends, a stripper, several automatic weapons
and some beer.
October 6, 2001 - DMX has
announced he'll be touring along the east coast of the United States for
free for his 'Hoodstock' tour. X will be performing atop an 18 wheeler
truck with shows that begin October 12 in Washington DC and ends on November
1 in Atlanta. Listen to local radio for dates and times.. but because they're
free shows, look for very brief, and very late notification.
October 6, 2001 - The New
York Daily News reports DMX and his four bodyguards arrived at the party
to celebrate Ja Rule's album release for 'Pain is Love' only to be stopped
by NV Club's security as the DMX posse were carrying 4 guns. After an argument
with the manager, the guards agreed to leave their guns at the door. Also
partying it up were of course Ja Rule, and rapper Eve, and the now skeletal
Whitney Houston.
