March 31, 2004 - MTV News
spoke with DMX about his new film 'Never Die Alone', though wasn't too
excited to discuss the film's soundtrack. "Ah ... I just get a really bad
taste in my mouth when I even talk about the music industry," X moaned.
"[Label people] backed out of the deal at the last minute. Different labels,
it's like they get into their little feuds and the only one who suffers
is me. 'Oh, you didn't give me this artist last time. Well, I'm not gonna
give you this artist this time.' You know, that little bitch sh** that
record labels do, and I get caught up in the middle of it. ... I'm not
signed to anyone. I'm gonna put it out myself. God prepared me for it.
My last two albums and soundtracks, I went off and recorded on my own anyway.
I go in with my crew, we have fun and record. So I'm used to doing it on
my own." Read more.

31, 2004 - DMX was 1 hour and 15 minutes late to the premiere of his new
movie, 'Never Die Alone' in New York City last week, but that didn't stop
director Ernest Dickerson from telling Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com he
plans on having X in his next film. "It will be another Donald Goines novel,"
he said, referring to the author of 'Never Die Alone', who indeed died
alone in 1974 from a gunshot wound. Read more.
March 29, 2004 - DMX phoned
into the Tom Joyner Morning Show on Thursday (March 25) to promote his

March 29, 2004 - DMX complained
to The New York Daily News about the treatment of his vintage lowrider
on the set of 'Never Die Alone'. "They fu**ed up my car," X fumed at the
movie's premiere in New York. "The hood don't close right. The [bleeping]
turn signal thing is just hanging off by a wire. They never cleaned all
of the blood off of the back seat." The rapper/actor added, "I'm sending
them the bills once I fix the car. The grimy bastards!" Read more.

March 25, 2004 - DMX lashed
out at Def Jam and other labels for the way they treat their artists --
including himself. "The highest paid artists get 18 cents off a dollar,
and the record company still owns their product even though they've paid
for it," X told Radio 1. "It's like straight robbery, straight robbery.
They give you nothing, everything is an advance. But they offer it to you,
you know. 'Hey, we was looking at the new Range Rover, we thought it would
be a great idea if we got it for you.' They get it for you, you look on
your P&L (profit and loss) report, you've got $80,000 and like 'thank
you' - you end up thanking yourself."
