July
27, 2002 - Eminem gave a pretty funny interview to Launch.com's Dave DiMartino.
When asked about his goals when making 'The Eminem Show', Slim replied,
"Um, well, with this album, more than anything, I was trying to show growth.
I feel like I grown, as an artist, like, mentally, and like, my d--k has
gotten a lot bigger. I grown like an inch, since, the last two albums.
And I just basically wanted to show growth, with my penis." As for whether
he'd like to get married again, Eminem scoffed, "I'd rather have a baby
through my penis than be married again. Currently, I am not really seeing
anyone, but, Shannon Elizabeth, if you're watching this...you know, I'm
open. So holler." Shannon recently got married though Eminem. Read more.
July 26, 2002 - An interesting
diary entry by Tim Healy, Head Writer of MTV's Total Request Live on May
2nd, when Eminem's 'Without Me' video was premiered. Healy writes, "At
noon we found out that he would be calling in to the show to talk a little
bit about the new record and introduce the video. We were a little nervous
for Quddus because he's still getting his feet wet with hosting TRL and
Eminem can be a really difficult person to interview. We told Q to be prepared
for anything and not to let Em rattle him. Turns out Eminem was really
cool to Quddus and gave him a really great interview. He had everyone cracking
up when he said, 'I like Moby, it's just too bad nobody else does.' Oh
yeah, the producer that answered the phone when Eminem called in told me
that he was all nice and polite and even said, 'Hello there, this is Marshall
Mathers. I was told to call this number for my interview.' Classic." Read

July 25, 2002 - Dan Aquilante
of the New York Post was at the Meadowlands arena Monday to check out the
Eminem headlining Anger Management Tour stop there. "Eminem may be the
current bad-boy ruler of the charts, but this emperor has no clothes,"
he said. "At this performance, he proved that he has limited singing ability,
marginal rapping skills and the charisma of a reptile - and the stories
he talks out are hateful, juvenile, and comic book silly. And his teenage
fans love him for it." Read more.
July 23, 2002 - Paine of
AllHipHop.com spoke with Thirstin Howl III to get his thoughts on being
a big fan of Polo, his unforgettable name, his inspirations, what exactly
went down with Rawkus, and the publicity boost he got after working with
Eminem. On the latter subject, he said, "As far as Eminem...I feel that
after he reached stardom, it helped. Because of him...I got a lot of popularity
that before, I didn't have. Yeah, Eminem defintley helped me." Read more.
July 23, 2002 - Eminem's
show on the Anger Management Tour includes a staged murder of Moby, according
to NME.com. A Moby impersonator with a bald wig and red tracksuit walks
on to the stage saying "Look at me! I’m a spaceboy", and then flew up in
the air. Eminem then told fellow MC Obie Trice to "get my gun", before
he aimed and fired in the direction of the impersonator. 'Moby' then fell
to the ground, although it turned out to be a rag doll.

July 20, 2002 - Eminem called
out Mariah Carey much like he's done with former wife Kim and Christina
Aguilera in prior tours when he kicked off the Anger Management Tour last
night in Buffalo. Slim let it be known that he was single telling the women
in the audience, "Ladies, I ain't married no more." Just when he said that,
on stage was a woman pleading with him to save her, she being inside the
giant mouth that was the backdrop of Slim's set and had only managed to
get one arm out. "I'mma tell you like I told Mariah, 'Bitch, you make me
hurl," he responded to her appeal, setting up 'Superman.' The girl turned
out to be frequent Slim Shady back-up singer Dina Rae, made her way out
the mouth on her own. Rae contributed to the song and was made up to look
like Mariah. Read more.
July 20, 2002 - Shannon McCarthy
of Get Real Detroit chatted with Princess Superstar and asked about the
unlikely combination that would have her and Eminem having children. "I
think they’d be pretty talented lyricists," she explained. "He’s pretty
f**ked-up, so the kid would be pretty f**ked-up." As for her thoughts on
the top hip-hop bling-blingers who are raking in all the cash, she said,
"The beats are getting better, but the lyrical content is pretty much sh**.
Everything sounds like a commercial." Read more.
July 20, 2002 - John Wawrow
of the Associated Press was on hand at the opening night of the Anger Management
Tour at Buffalo's HSBC Arena. Wawrow says Eminem's set got mixed reaction
from the audience, "Perhaps, in wanting to, as he put it, 'show growth'
and put the controversies behind him with his new release, Eminem is finding
himself caught in the conflict between his two personalities: Marshall
Mathers, his given name, and his on-stage alter-ego Slim Shady." Read more.

July 16, 2002 - The Sun reports
Eminem is moaning because female fans keep breaking into his garden in
Detroit and skinnydipping in his pool. He admits, "It’s my own fault. I
just shouldn’t have bought a house on a main road." Sounds like he's talking
about the old house, as I think the new one is in a gated community.
July 16, 2002 - Gil Kaufman
of MTV.com did a lot of counting and determined Eminem has set a new standard
in self-referential lyrics on his 'Without Me' track. The 67 times he refers
to himself is enough to beat out Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs in 'Diddy'. Still,
Diddy shows he's much more egomaniacal in the boasting of sexual prowess
department, as Diddy does 15 times compared to 0 with Slim. Read more.

Eminem is still haunted by the time he was told off by his school teacher,
which he raps about in 'Just Don't Give A Fu**'. Slim recalled, "There
was this teacher. He once singled me out and told me I wasn't gonna be
s***. Everybody in class laughed. I don't even remember why he said that,

stands out in my head. Here's this guy that I don't even give a damn about
saying this, but it hurt."

wasn't expecting wedding bells, but she loved his company and thought the
relationship was going well." Read more.
July 13, 2002 - Moby talked
with Chauncé Hayden of Steppin' Out Magazine where he addressed
Eminem's diss of him in 'Without Me'. When asked if he ran into Slim what
he would say, Moby responded, "I think I would ask him one simple question.
I think he's a very talented MC and a very interesting public figure, but
I do have a problem with his misogynistic lyrics. I think I would ask him
how would he feel if ten or fifteen years from now, when his daughter starts
dating people, if she dates some guy who beats her up who was an Enimem
fan. How would Enimem feel when maybe someone who was influenced by his
music ends up abusing his own daughter. I don't want to criticize him because
I do think he's an interesting public figure and I do think he's talented.
But I have problems with lyrics that glorify violence and misogyny." Read

interested," he said. "[The money] wasn't really what drew me to the situation.
Dr. Dre's production, the chemistry, there's different things I can do
here. He's from N.W.A. He knows exactly what I'm doing. When he heard the
music, he was like, 'I know exactly what to do with this to make it work.'
Here it's, 'Lets make the best record.' Creatively, it's a better space
for me." Read more.
