Hmmm.... well, what should i write? The truth? The truth is that I honestly,

semblance of humor until Eminem called me a pussy (that was off camera)
and then threatened to beat me up. Ah well." Read more.

They should just make fun of me." As for bandmate Justin Timberlake's debut

August 31, 2002 - Roger Friedman
of FoxNews.com gave thoughts on last night's MTV Video Music Awards. Friedman
writes, "The MTV Video Music Awards are like Mardi Gras, Fourth of July
and Halloween all rolled into one. The music is mostly awful, the so-called
artists are forgettable. But the show! The show is a wonderment! It's full
of so many simultaneous excesses -- like the godawful Shakira belly-dancing,
and Justin Timberlake's failed attempt to launch his solo career, and Eminem
insulting Moby -- that you can't take it seriously. You just to have to
enjoy it." Read more, including Roger's report from Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs'

who threw my pooping paper in the air did not result in permanent injury,"

myself as a test and my pink thing was perfectly functional. You will be

man? This guy is really bleeding. What's up, man? What's up? All right.
First off I want to start off by saying that I'm taking this home for rap

daughter Rachel in the shooting spree. Scott compared Slim to Charles Manson

on the lives of young people. And we really need to take a long look at
the influences that come across the media and entertainment." Read more.

favor. I've got the album." Read more.

and every time that song comes on, it's like the whole club comes to me.
And, like, waits, like I'm gonna go up to the DJ, 'Hey, could you mute
that one part? I'm really kind of, like, upset about that.'" Read more.

video's director Joseph Kahn. "It was first pitched to me as a more 'serious'
Eminem video," said Kahn. "We were initially going to make some sort of

to just look cool, and in no way was he going to wear a silly costume or
make a fool out of himself. Oops." Read more.
August 28, 2002 - Gideon
Yago and Iann Robinson of MTV News spoke with Extra TV about this Thursday's
MTV Video Music Awards to get their picks for who will walk home with a

Me'. Gideon says, "Obviously the front runner on this one is going to be
Eminem because he's performing at our show and the kids just love his records."

didn't win Best Female Video." Watch the clip here.
August 27, 2002 - The Eminem
interview with Blender magazine has been posted online. In it, Slim talks
about the weapons charges he dealt with, and what convinced him he had
to carry a 9-mm handgun. "I was like, 'I'm not walking around with security.
Who the fu** am I? The president? My security just stabbed me in the back.
You see where security gets you? Fu** that. I’m a grown man. I’m a father.
Who the fu** is going to protect my daughter if her own father can't?'"
The comment seems to be targetted at Byron Williams, Eminem's fired bodyguard,
who put out a book and did a lot of press afterwards. "I was irrational,"
Slim admits. "I was acting like a kid. I was literally in fear for my life
— of somebody punking me, somebody snuffing me from behind. The truth is,
I acted like an idiot." Read more.

not looking for a new woman." He added, "No more kids. I'm good with Hailie.

August 18, 2002 - Tony Hicks
of the Contra Costa Times reviewed the Anger Management Tour at the Shoreline
Amphitheater in Mountain View last Sunday (August 11), concluding that
the elaborate stage Eminem brought with him was overdone. "Eminem's show
could foretell 21st century concerts," Hicks said. "As bands ratchet up
the stage show, with better technology, more on-stage distractions, and
bigger and more elaborate video presentations, performers will get lost
amid all the distraction. That happened Sunday. If Eminem indeed put on
a great show, not everybody saw it." Read more.
August 14, 2002 - Uncle Kracker
spoke with CDNow.com's Corey Levitan about his high school days freestyle

always awesome," Kracker insists. "Even back then, that kid was rapping
tongue-twisters and shit, you know? And he's always been very artistic.
He'd sit around and draw pictures and sh**." Read more.

Lauderdale, Florida, still will put the car to use though. "I'll just sit
in the garage and listen to music [in the car] and wash it," she said.
Her father Roger commented, "I think Eminem's great. Especially in the
last couple of albums he's made himself a little bit more kid-friendly.
I thought that was really important." Read more.

Enemy's Chuck D commented on Eminem being the new Elvis for this generation
to Newsday's Glenn Gamboa. "Eminem is the new Elvis because, number one,
he had the respect for black music that Elvis had," Chuck D said. "I think

more sympathetic to black music than many black artists themselves." Read
more of his comments on Slim here

skills but can name 10 MCs who are better. And he loves playing devil's
advocate. Read more.

last poll asking if you thought Jermaine Dupri will get any big name rappers
to take his side in the Em, Dre, Xzibit & Obie beef had about 2/3 of

or at least the window-ledge hating Erick Sermon to back him. Check out
more on the poll here.
August 8, 2002 - Access Hollywood
played a preview of Eminem's upcoming movie '8 Mile' on Wednesday and asked
the film's producer Brian Grazer if people will be surprised by Slim's
performance. "I think they will see the charisma," she said. "I think they'll
be surprised by his discipline. You see it on the screen. He's got a lot
of restraint, but at the same time intensity. The movie feels really real."
Grazer adds the film isn't about Eminem's life, though there are some similarities.
"It's about this kid who reaches a place where he can make a left turn
or a right turn," he said. "Which we all face in life sometimes. And he's
almost manipulated into that left turn, you know. And he makes the right
choice and proves to be triumphant."

more.
August 8, 2002 - Moby again
sounded off on the controversy he's in with Eminem after he saw a headline
in Rolling Stone that said 'Eminem Kills Moby'. Moby said on his official
website Tuesday, "Well, uh... I'm assuming that they meant this in the
figurative sense, seeing as I still seem to be alive. I guess I should
write something about Eminem and his ongoing attacks on me. Well, do you
want my honest opinion? The truth is that I think that the whole thing
is kind of funny. I'm still offended by the misogyny and homophobia in
his lyrics, but I'm certainly not offended by his attacks against me."

August 7, 2002 - The New
York Post reports Eminem and "GGW" founder Joe Francis hit the Hamptons
beaches last weekend to film some exhibitionist East End-ettes for the

magazine, "I think the hip-hop community is very sexual and edgy. They
don't seem to have a problem with us or our content." He says Tommy Lee
and Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath also looked into the hosting gig, but
were turned down. "Who cares about Tommy Lee?" Francis snickered. "We only
want the best of the best. That's why we got Eminem."
August 6, 2002 - Launch.com
reports Reverend Paul Scott says he's worried that the white influence
on rap music, such as that from Eminem, will weaken the hip hop culture.
Scott said, "Malcolm X once said that when you have a cup of coffee that
is too black and too strong you add cream to make it weak, and the thing
that used to wake up now puts you to sleep." Read more.
August 6, 2002 - Jim Derogatis
of the Chicago Sun-Times reviewed the Anger Management Tour stop on Thursday
night when it pulled into a sold-out Allstate Arena. Derogatis writes of
the Eminem set, "The reliance on gimmickry at the expense of music is starting
to seem very tired indeed, as when he urged the crowd to join in cursing
out his mother and when he tortured Moby in effigy. Neither target seemed
worthy of such bile, and to believe that any of this anger was real and
not just part of the show is to think that pro wrestling isn't carefully
staged, either." Read more.
August 5, 2002 - Isaac Guzman
of the Vancouver Province gave readers a lyric guide to Eminem's latest
album 'The Eminem Show'. Guzman explained the history behind the disses
of Moby and *NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick in 'Without Me', the gun arrests

America', and more. Check it out here.
August 5, 2002 - Greg Kot
of Metromix reviewed the Eminem show at the Anger Management Tour at the
Allstate Arena on Friday. Kot writes, "Perhaps Eminem senses that his career
could stand another shot of controversy. The headliner's grand entrance
was the most striking moment in what was otherwise a visually and sonically
lackluster show. Though his Detroit compatriots D-12 filled the stage with
commotion midway through the set, they brought little to the table as rappers."

August 2, 2002 - TeenMusic.com
(WENN) reports Eminem claims his bad behavior during concerts is specifically
designed as a satire, to humiliate his critics when they assume it's for
real. "On stage I'm the average small-minded, conservative American who
rejects anything that is different," he said. "I like taking on this role
in order to show people just how ridiculous they are. Some people just
don't understand me and they take my irony at face value."
August 2, 2002 - The Chicago
