October 27, 2003 - Steve
Jones of USA Today reviewed Anthony Bozza's biography on Eminem, 'Whatever
You Say I Am'. Jones writes, "The book addresses how Eminem has come to
be embraced by those who condemned him. Lyrics that were once the subject
of a congressional hearing because of their violent content are the same
lyrics that make him a hero to poor, angry and disaffected youth. Bozza
avoids a gushy, insider's love-fest. Instead, he takes advantage of his
unique perspective to paint an informative portrait of a conflicted figure
whose influence on American culture goes far beyond his own popularity."

on him. Kim thought the Detroit rapper was in Los Angeles, but he caught

October 22, 2003 - A million-dollar
lawsuit against Eminem by DeAngelo Bailey was dismissed by a Judge Deborah
Servitto who concluded her ruling with a rap verse. "Mr Bailey complained
his rep is trash, so he's seeking compensation in the form of cash," Servitto
rapped. "Bailey thinks he's entitled to some monetary gain, because Eminem
used his name in vain. The lyrics are stories no one would take as fact,
they're an exaggeration of a childish act. It is therefore this court's
ultimate position, that Eminem is entitled to summary disposition." Read

Johnson Jr. of Launch.com sat down with Obie Trice recently to talk about
his debut album 'Cheers'. Asked about how he managed to hook up with a

of Slim, Obie explained, "I took his first album to the hood and he was
just brilliant to me. And I thought, 'I can really do this sh**. If he
can do it, I can do it.' The first time I heard the first album, it was
the dopest thing that had happened in a long time. And I took it to my
neighborhood and dudes were not trying to hear that sh**. I literally had
to make my homeboys listen to that sh**. Listen to what he said. Listen
to his wordplay. Listen to his delivery. Dude was like, 'Get that white-boy
sh** out of here.' And then 'The Marshall Mathers LP'--boom! That's when
people like, 'Obie, be bring that sh** around here forever.' That inspired
me to keep it moving." Read more.
