28, 2001 - Now 8 and Britney Spears' latest captured the #2 and #3 spots
in this week's album charts according to Hits Magazine, who shows Spears
selling 453,778 copies of 'Britney' (up 35%) while 'Now 8' crossed 586,000.
Other's charting high were Enrique Iglesias at #9 and Michael Jackson dropping
to #12, with Madonna right behind at #13. The Backstreet Boys Chapter 1
got a bump with a 40% jump in sales to #18. Creed topped all by far with
nearly 900,000 sales of 'Weathered.'

talked with Enrique Iglesias about his close showing against Michael Jackson
in the album charts as 'Escape' finished 2nd to 'Invicible' the opening
week of both albums in the charts. Iglesias says, "It's great. It means
people are reacting. [Puts on a squeaky voice of mock excitement] "I was
this close to beating him" [laughs]. I think it's the long run [that matters],
because you can go in the first week and then disappear the second week."

Brooks landed the top spot for sales last week in the Soundscan music charts
with sales of 465,000 copies of 'Scarecrow'. Britney Spears' album dropped
a spot to #2 with 336,000 in sales while Shakira's debut 'Laundry Service'
got #3 with 202,000 sales. Madonna's greatest hits album didn't fare well
at all selling around 150,000 copies, putting it at #7 and behind Michael
Jackson's 'Invincible' at #4 and Enrique Iglesias' Escape at #6.

talked with Enrique Iglesias about his new album Escape where the singer
revealed his favorite songs to perform on the new album, "I like performing
'Don't Turn Off the Lights' and 'Love 4 Fun' because they are uplifting

Lopez of KTU interviewed Enrique Iglesias last month where Enrique talks

Iglesias will be performing on the Today Show on NBC Monday, November 19
live from New York. The show will mark the start of the fall concert series.

Iglesias was on Access Hollywood Friday where he revealed how panicked
he was before his 'Hero' performance on the 'America: Tribute to Heroes'
telethon. Enrique says, "I was not nervous. I was panicking. The funny
thing, I was writing down the lyrics of the song. When I get nervous, my
voice gives out and my memory completely blocks often and I can't, you
know -- I forget the lyrics. I go nuts. I hate singing when I'm nervous."

talked to veteran rocker Rob Zombie about his thoughts on pop music and
he took the chance to blast Enrique Iglesias' latest video for 'Hero' saying,
"I was talking about this the other day because we were watching MTV and
they were showing Enrique Iglesias and I was like how the fu** can these
kids sing along to this sh**? It's like Michael Bolton, it's like what
my Mom listens to vacuum the floor. [Actually] My Mom doesn't even listen
to music that wimpy."

talked to Enrique Iglesias about his role in the Salma Hayek starring 'Once
Upon a Time in Mexico' where he admits, "Acting is something I just started
experimenting with and has been a great experience. It's been a lot of
fun, and is something that I definitely want to continue." Enrique insists
though he won't give up music in the process, "Music has always been my
passion. It's what I started with and it's how I express myself best."

A CD and DVD of America: A Tribute to Heroes will be released December
4 and will feature the separate 'Hero' tracks by Mariah Carey and Enrique
Iglesias. Proceeds from the album will go to the September 11 fund, run
by the United Way... A fact noted in deference of the Red Cross controversy
surrounding the original fundraiser.

Iglesias was on with Carson Daly and Total Request Live Wednesday on MTV.
Enrique talked about Escape saying, "You know what, I want my records to
sound different, I don't want this album to sound like the prior album.
I want a much more aggressive album, a funner album. I think out of all

album sales numbers are in from Hits Daily Double which show Michael Jackson's
'Invincible' in the top spot with 381,611 sales. In the number 2 spot is
Enrique Iglesias' latest effort, Escape, pushing 266,160 copies while the
Backstreet Boys came in at number 4 with 'Hits Chapter 1' getting a disappointing
191,748 sales. As for the 'What's Going On' album, that also disappointed
getting only 72,134 sales (likely because it was after all repeating the
same lyrics with different beats.. good for singles, bad for an album).

michellyzz. "I went to CityWalk at Universal Studios here in Los Angeles
today and there was a TON of people there in line to see Enrique.
They transformed that entire Sam Goody's store in all his posters and they
blasted his music but he only signed autographs from 1-3pm and then he
took off for Houston, Texas where he's signing autographs tomorrow...Sunday.
He's got a lot of fans, that place was packed."

Iglesias was nominated for 'My Favorite Male', 'Is It Hot in Here or Is
It Just My Video', and 'Hero' co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt was nominated
for Best Actor in a Video at this year's My VH1 Music Awards. The event
will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on December 2.

Iglesias was on the Tonight Show on Friday to perform 'Hero' but the focus
turned out to be a hot & horny Shannon Elizabeth who arrived without
her loser wannabe actor fiance. Shannon was first quized by Jay for not
bringing him along and then being caught in the dressing room with Enrique.
Then, after Enrique performed, Shannon boldly offered to kiss Enrique but
chickened out. When Enrique talked about having a foot fetish, Shannon's
foot was in his hand within 2 seconds. It was apparent Shannon would dump
her boyfriend in a second for Enrique.

Enrique Iglesias is surprising some by putting up a strong challenge against
the Backstreet Boys for the #2 spot in the charts and may sell 250,000
copies of Escape in the album's opening week. Many are crediting his appearance
on America: A Tribute To Heroes as the catalyst to surpass expectations.
