January 30, 2002 - Gary Graff of CDNow.com spoke with Enrique Iglesias about his thoughts on the Latin pop market and whether or not there was a 'boom' in the market that now is over. Enrique said, "It's funny how times have changed, no? Now it's over. But for me, it wasn't a boom; for me it was about a few artists that were good artists and had good music and were doing well, and two of them were Puerto Rican -- Marc Anthony and Ricky Martin -- and I'm from Spain. It's like saying there's three guys from Ohio who are singers, and they start doing well; is that an Ohio music trend? Don't get me wrong; I'm not against that trend. January 29, 2002 - Fans on Enrique Iglesias' official site message board sounded off after initial dates of an Enrique Iglesias tour were revealed today on MTV's Total Request Live. The fans were upset that those on the official site weren't given the information first. Read more.

January 26, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias chatted with fans in an online chat conducted by The Sun. When a fan asked him how he felt when people call you the new Ricky Martin, Enrique said, "I'm nothing like him! Come on, Hero? Hero and the rest of my music is very different to anything by Ricky Martin." As for rumors of a romance with Jennifer Love Hewitt, he said, "I heard that. January 26, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias spoke with The Sun where he addressed the talk that he'd refused to kiss Anna Kournikova on his new video for Escape saying, "I heard rumours that I wouldn’t kiss her because she had a cold sore but that’s not true. Describing 'Escape', Enrique said, "There's going to be acting that's different, one on a motorcycle, the other one, we're going to the movies, you know, another one is sex in the car. January 23, 2002 - A fan on the Enrique Iglesias official site message board shared her photos of getting a big hug after presenting the singer with a teddy bear at the Q 102 Jingle Ball last month. January 23, 2002 - The Sun reports Enrique Iglesias looks poised to debut at #1 for the first time in the UK with 'Hero.' As for Britney Spears, she looks to be debuting at #5 with Overprotected. Both singers were in London to promote their singles over the weekend.

January 22, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias visited the guys at Y-100 in Miami and he reportedly told them he's not dating either Jennifer Love Hewitt or Anna Kournikova. January 20, 2002 - Ravenslea from the Enrique Iglesias message board had the opportunity to meet the singer this weekend when he did his BBC taping just after Britney Spears had performed. The brave fan joked to Enrique when offered a kiss, "If you don't mind, I'll shake your hand, I heard you had herpes!" Enrique's response, "I don't have herpes!" January 19, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias joins an already packed list of top pop talent scheduled to perform at this year's NBA All-Star game on February 10. Enrique will be performing at half-time of the game in Philadelphia which will be broadcast on NBC at 5:00 PM EST (So look for Enrique around 6 PM, and remember the Philly crowd was brutal on Destiny's Child last year in the NBA Finals).

January 14, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias tells the London Daily Times that his dad Julio cruely taunted him earlier in his career but the singer proved dad wrong. Enrique said, "It's not a normal relationship. It's weird in many ways, but we love each other." January 10, 2002 - With so many winners being no-shows at the American Music Awards Wednesday night you'd have to wonder if there was a blackballing effort going on by Grammy honcho Michael Greene. Enrique Iglesias won the award for Favorite Latin Music Artist but in accepting on his behalf, Darren Hayes and Jamie O'Neal explained, "Enrique is actually out of the country promoting his new album. But we're very happy to accept this award on his behalf."

January 8, 2002 - Enrique Iglesias' official site says MTV's Making the Video will feature Enrique and Escape this month, with the premier on January 26th at 10 pm. Zits or not, the appearance by Anna Kournikova no doubt ensured Enrique getting this coveted promotional slot.

January 7, 2002 - German television station Bl!tz has a short clip featuring still photos of Anna Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias on the set of his new video 'Escape', again showing the pair not appearing to show any tension. Check out the clip in real video here.

January 6, 2002 - The New York Post reports Enrique Iglesias was furious at tennis star Anna Kournikova when she turned up late to a interior shooting for his new video 'Escape'. A source revealed, "His attitude was that she was ruining his video and she was lucky to be in it at all." As for the final kissing scene, the zit confrontation made the kiss less than "the hot embrace they were hoping for." Read more.

January 6, 2002 - Hello! magazine has a couple of photos from Enrique Iglesias' latest video shoot for 'Escape' where he's shown exchanging a smile with tennis star Anna Kournikova after completing the shoot for his new video where the two kiss. January 1, 2002 - The Herald Sun reports Enrique Iglesias was shooting a makeout scene for his latest video 'Escape' at Hollywood's Universal City Walk shopping mall where the singer refused to plant his lips on Anna Kournikova, complaining that there were too many zits around her mouth.
