September 26, 2002 - Jordan
Levin of the Miami Herald chatted with Enrique Iglesias, and asked the
singer about criticism that he's just a heartthrob and not much of a singer.
"I'm not insecure about that," he says. "I know I don't have the greatest
voice in the world; you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that
out. But -- not to compare myself -- did Bob Dylan have the greatest voice
in the world? Or Madonna? Or Julio Iglesias? People say: He just sold albums
because he had a pretty face. Bull. There's a thousand people out there
with pretty faces. People buy albums because they like the songs and what
they're hearing. The only thing I have to prove is that I can write better
songs.'' Read more.

underwear model, played his sexy Latin image off that of a grittier, tougher-sounding
stadium rocker." Read more, including fan reaction, here.
September 18, 2002 - Enrique
Iglesias tells MuchMusic he wasn't upset at all when Jimmy Fallon spoofed
him on the MTV Video Music Awards. "I think he did it better than me, the
mole was a little bigger though," said Enrique. "I thought that it was
hilarious. And for me it actually is a complement. It means that at least
he knows what I do and what kind of music I sing. It must have caused some
sort of impression, whether it was negative or positive."
September 17, 2002 - Dave
DiMartino of Launch.com caught up with Enrique Igliesias and asked the
singer and son of Julio Iglesias if it was cool to be known or associated
as the son of someone else. Enrique said, "I don't even think about it.
It's never been anything negative in my life. I'm so proud of who I am
and where I come from and who my father is. In school, kids never really
looked at me a different way because I think it was a different generation;
they didn't really know who my father was. They just knew he was a singer.
Maybe if my father would have been the guy from Twisted Sister or something
like that, they would have been like, "Whoa!" But it didn't really hit
the generation I grew up with, my father's music. It didn't really change
the way people act around me, when it came to my career and doing my own
thing. I still never really think about it that much. It was never like
people are going to be comparing me or saying I'm worse or better or anything
like that. No, I never really thought about it." Read more.

Emerick added that Enrique "really won over the hearts of normal-looking
women everywhere when he plucked an average Jane out of the audience so

one of the thousands of sexy babes trolling the aisles, Iglesias picked
a Betty instead of a Veronica, and God bless him for that." Read more.
