July 27, 2002 - Rush & Molloy of the New York Daily News report that claims of Jennifer Lopez giving Cris Judd as much as $22 million in their divorce settlement are "absurd", according to a well-placed source. Rather, the couple's negotiations have been distressingly amicable to the point that Judd apparently signed off on letting Lopez list herself as the petitioner for the divorce. Read more.

July 26, 2002 - As Jennifer Lopez wrapped up shooting on 'The Chambermaid' yesterday (and apparently it's back to that title instead of 'Uptown Girl'), a ton of photos emerged from both the shooting and the celebration following the completion. July 26, 2002 - The Sun reports Ben Affleck shelled out over $15,000 for a diamond bracelet which he presented to her at her surprise 32nd birthday party in New York earlier this week.

July 26, 2002 - After celebrating her 32nd birthday yesterday, Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Cris Judd citing irreconcilable differences after less than a year of marriage. Lawyers said the pair had also reached a financial settlement agreement. Details were not disclosed. A joint statement issued by their lawyers said, "Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd have announced they have resolved all issues arising out of their marriage. July 25, 2002 - Pagesix.com reports Ben Affleck took new galpal Jennifer Lopez to the posh Park eatery on West 17th Street in mid-afternoon, supposedly for a quiet lunch to celebrate J.Lo's 32nd birthday. Once inside though, she was greeted by thunderous applause from her family and friends. Lopez introduced her new boyfriend to mom Lupe, dad David, sisters, grandmother and nieces at the gala gathering of 25 revelers. July 25, 2002 - The New YorK Daily News reports Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck went out for sushi at Nobu in Tribeca on Monday night, and the pair couldn't keep their lips off each other. July 22, 2002 - Cindy Adams of the New York Post reports contrary to earlier rumors that Jennifer Lopez would have to spend the weekend alone at the Hamptons this weekend after being rebuffed by Ben Affleck and her ex Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, J.Lo did have someone to keep her company. In fact Ben was able to make it over, though he didn't have much time to come up for air so to speak.

July 22, 2002 - The New York Daliy News reports Jennifer Lopez and Cris Judd are set to file for divorce this week and the settlement proceedings seem to be going quite well. July 19, 2002 - The New York Post reports Jennifer Lopez appears to be spending a weekend at the Hamptons by herself this weekend after being spurred by Ben Affleck and Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs. Insiders say J.Lo had hoped Affleck would join her, but he had to go to Japan for a junket for 'Sum of All Fears'. A pal of Puffy's revealed, "Jennifer has been calling Puffy non-stop. It's amazing." Puffy won't be in the Hamptons this weekend and the insider adds, "He's away - and believe me, he's not going back to her." July 2, 2002 - Christina Milian said in an online chat with The Sun that when she first composed the song 'Play' she thought it was "cheesy and too simple, a bit like a nursery rhyme." The track later became a hit when sung by Jennifer Lopez, leaving many to wonder if Milian had wished she had kept the track for herself. "No, I'm happy that I didn't do it," she said. "I don't think it would have been the same if I had sung the song because J.Lo had the star quality. I think it was good that an established artist did it. She also had the attitude and the edge that went with the track. I think that I, as a new artist, didn't really match the song. July 2, 2002 - Marc Morano of CNSNews.com reports Jennifer Lopez has landed herself into a bit of a controversy after her recent public service announcement (PSA) to promote an environmental cause is also seems to be a "transparent" effort to promote her movie 'Enough'. The PSA is running in magazines and features a photo of Lopez and the word 'Enough'. Colby May, who practices law before the Federal Communications Commission, said while the PSA isn't illegal but it's "a pretty transparent self-promotion in the guise of a public service announcement."
