"There is a definitely lot of interest in the U.S.," says a source. "The proof in the pudding will be what sort of ratings it brings in, but we’re expecting that after [it broadcasts] a bidding war will break out like it did for the Michael Jackson documentary that was also broadcast [in England] first." April 26, 2003 - Liz Smith responded to the rumor she posted the other day about Jennifer Lopez starring in a remake of 'Flashdance'. Smith says, "If Lopez were to remake anything, she'd do well with 'Carmen,' the classic tale of a lusty gypsy who leads men to ruin. She is a convincing, earthy actress. She was really quite good in every scene in 'Maid in Manhattan' that did not include her tragically miscast leading man, Ralph Fiennes. It was an absurd movie, but Lopez leant a sense of reality to the silliness."

April 25, 2003 - While Jennifer Lopez proudly sang how she grew up humble in 'Jenny From The Block', a new TV documentary from Channel 4, 'Behind the Behind', brings the story tumbling down. The documenary reveals that Lopez came from a nice neighborhood and had a private education. Retired policeman Henry Palayo, who has known the Lopez family for 20 years, says, "She’s another Hollywood star who’s forgotten where she comes from. She’s very artificial — more artificial than a plastic rose." Ex husband Ojani Noa recalled, "She would go shopping a lot — she never hung out with people from the Bronx." April 25, 2003 - Chris Booker of Entertainment Tonight chatted with his girlfriend Lynda's famous sister, Jennifer Lopez, on the set of her new Vibe magazine cover shoot. Asked how the diva can maintain her schedule, J.Lo says, "I have great people who I work with. Like the idea that I had last week is in motion and so I can think of new things this week!" But can she find time to sleep? "I want to sleep right now! You know, I take everything and prioritize in a certain way," J.Lo explained. "I basically set my priorities and say this needs to be today, this can be done tomorrow ... I need to do this, this has to be fit in. I just go day by day." April 25, 2003 - Us Weekly reports that for her 'I'm Glad' video, Jennifer Lopez insisted on wearing the same red bodysuit Jennifer Beals' wore in 'Flashdance' in the scene where water showers her body. A source who worked on the hot video, which was filmed in Los Angeles in February, says, "The dress had been in storage and never worn since the film, but Jennifer made sure she got it for the video." But J.Lo's shapely backside posed a slight problem. The source adds, "She had to have the suit cut in the back so that two panels of material could be added so it would fit her."

April 25, 2003 - Liz Smith of the New York Post reports Jennifer Lopez has done such a good job in re-creating the look of 'Flashdance' in her latest video 'I'm Glad', that there is talk that J.Lo will remake the 1983 film playing the role of Jennifer Beals. Smith says, "Really, what would be the point? Although the sturdy Ms. Lopez might be a more convincing welder-by-day/dancer-by-night than the slight and delicate original star."

April 23, 2003 - A pending lawsuit against Jennifer Lopez's original scent could force the singer and actress to fork over millions to a tiny California company that has sued her for trademark infringement. If Lopez loses the case, she and her company, Sweetface Fashion, and licensing partner Coty could be forced to turn over all the profits of her best-selling fragrance, Glow by J. Lo, to tiny Glow Industries, which maintains it had the name first. Lopez told Inc. via e-mail, "I try not to get too crazy about mistakes in business or lapses in judgment. The Globe received a letter from well-known Republican and former 'Grizzly Adams' star Dan Haggerty, who called J.Lo "a traitor. She's just taking Judas money to front some French fashion designer. April 22, 2003 - The Sunday People reports Jennifer Lopez has signed up for a $9.4 million part in the next Austin Powers flick, playing the spoof spy's love interest. April 18, 2003 - Craig David spoke with Radio 1 and said that while he would like to do a duet with Jennifer Lopez, he wants to establish his career in the U.S. without the help of such a collaboration. He says, "When it first came around I was just about to go to America. I think people would have looked at it as me trying to use Jennifer Lopez to get into that massive state. "It's a property they are very seriously interested in," an insider said. The couple left for Montreal after inspecting the Greek revival mansion.

April 17, 2003 - The Daily Star reports Jennifer Lopez reacted badly to a parking valet when he asked for a $5 tip. The parker says, "J.Lo moaned that she had no change, before asking if I knew who I was talking to. Then she told me that I had driven her car and that I should think myself lucky. J.Lo didn't want to cough up a penny, but I brown-nosed her a little. I told her I polished her motor, just because I was so proud to have driven it." And his tactic paid off - Lopez reached into her glove compartment and handed the man a $10 tip.

April 16, 2003 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com spoke with a spokesman for Ben Affleck after the report that he had purchased a jewel encrusted toilet seat studded with rubies, sapphires, pearls and a diamond, which were are all coated in plastic, so as not to cause friction to fiance Jennifer Lopez's behind. Affleck’s spokesman laughed. "That’s ridiculous," he said. "Consider the source." Asked if he was denying the story, he repeated, "Consider the source."

April 15, 2003 - The National Enquirer says that according to published reports, Ben Affleck has purchased fiance Jennifer Lopez a jewel-encrusted toilet seat. "Jennifer is my princess and she deserves only the best - even when it comes to toilets," Affleck reportedly told a pal. The $105,000 toilet is adorned with rubies, sapphires, pearls and a diamond and was designed by Affleck himself. The report adds that the stones are set inside the plastic, so Jennifer's behind won't get scratched.

April 15, 2003 - A source tells New York magazine that Jennifer Lopez will launch another fragrance this fall, after her first perfume, Glow by J.Lo, has become the No. 1 seller in the world. Lopez has decided to go a bit more upmarket this time, as she'll be wearing elegant frocks and evening gowns in the new ads. J.Lo’s entourage is trying to keep the new name's scent under wraps until a launch party in Los Angeles in June. For now, those involved are allowed to refer to it only as JL II.

April 13, 2003 - The New York Post reports Jennifer Lopez and fiance Ben Affleck threw designer Marc Jacobs a very surprising birthday bash on Wednesday night at the Crillon Hotel in Paris. "You could have peeled me off the ceiling," he admitted. "It was a complete surprise and I was really touched. It was a very extraordinary 40th birthday." Jacobs had thought it was a business meeting.

"It's absolutely untrue," says Revolution Studios partner Tom Sherak, which plans to open the gangster comedy 'Gigli' in August after delays for extensive reshoots. April 7, 2003 - The Daily Star reports Jennifer Lopez and fiance Ben Affleck have secured a deal to remake the classic movie 'Casablanca'. The original film was a hit in 1942 starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman and J.Lo and Affleck want to repeat the success. J.Lo and pals saw a cop writing a ticket for a car parked directly behind hers, prompting the singer/actress to scoot it into high gear.

April 5, 2003 - The Enquirer reports Jennifer Lopez has delivered fiance Ben Affleck an ultimatum: quit smoking or the wedding is off! J.Lo hates the stench from his smoking habit, and forbids him from smoking anywhere near her. Ben took the threat seriously and is seeking professional help to break the habit, as he did with his booze battle.

As for those that criticized the diva, he says, "They'll say, 'You know what? That's a big arse.' How can you say her arse is big? April 3, 2003 - The New York Post reports that according to sources, the producer and director of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's upcoming 'Tough Love' (formerly 'Gigli') got into a shouting match after a test screening for the picture left the audience unhappy. "[Producer] Joe Roth and [director] Marty Brest got into a huge fight," a spy snitched. "Marty said, 'See, we did it your way, we did your Hollywood ending, and people hated it!'"
