October 31, 2003 - The New York Daily News reports New York's Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Jennifer Lopez shared a hug in City Hall yesterday after months of very public courtship. "I finally got my date with Jennifer Lopez," said a blushing Bloomberg, who has publicly pined for a meeting with J.Lo since May. Even Ben Affleck, Lopez's fiance - at least based on the $1.2 million diamond rock she sported on her finger - was there, watching quietly from the back of the room. Read more.

October 29, 2003 - The Boston Herald reports Ben Affleck has ordered Jennifer Lopez to unload her Los Angeles home because the place is too "bling-bling" for Ben. Several interested parties have reportedly toured J.Lo's pad - where she resided for a time with ex boyfriend Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, and say the decor is definitely more Puffy than Ben. "It's all Puffed Out," a spy said.

October 27, 2003 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, and Jen's mother Guadalupe took a Palms limo on Monday to the new Hot Rod Hill Plaza in Henderson to check out some "muscle" cars. Tom Calabrese, owner of the GR8AUTO Classic Car Showroom, said a giddy J.Lo climbed behind the wheel of "Eleanor," a souped-up 1967 Mustang made famous in 'Gone in 60 Seconds,' co-starring Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie. The price tag: $225,000. "Ben's in that figuring-out-what-I-want-stage," said Calabrese. "She fell in love with a purple 1961 Corvette street rod with custom everything." Read more.

October 27, 2003 - The National Enquirer reports Jennifer Lopez was recently staying at a condo and wanted the gym all to herself so they banned members during certain hours of the evening. The members decided to stay there when they were supposed to leave. J.Lo got the hint and left the gym.

October 24, 2003 - Best-selling author Stephen King said he's disgusted by the celebrity culture that has turned Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez into a one-named phenomenon. "It's as if their romance summed up everything we'd ever care to know about them. Are they talented? Can they sing, dance and act? Doesn't matter. A source says Lopez's refusal to pay for even the dress' wholesale cost has irked the designer to no end. ''It's not about the money ... obviously $25,000 to Vera is just a drop in the bucket. ... October 22, 2003 - The New York Daily News reports Jennifer Lopez' untitled series for Universal Television will be a 'View'-like show for younger female audiences and have her sister Lynda as co-host. It'll launch in fall 2004. Will J.Lo be appearing on the show herself? "When her schedule permits, she may appear," said a Universal spokesman. "She's very hands-on with all of her projects." October 20, 2003 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were spotted dining at Mon Ami Gabi steakhouse (Paris Las Vegas) late Friday before Affleck took a seat at the Bellagio's high-stakes poker room. Spies say J.Lo's mom, Guadalupe, was in a nearby suite during their stay at the $7,500-a-night "Real World Suites" at the Palms Hotel. Read more.

October 18, 2003 - Deborah Panini-Hernandez, an associate anthropology professor teaching Latino studies at Tufts University, tells USA Today Latin crossover idols such as Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez can be unfairly judged. "There tends to be a blurring of distinctions between Latinos who have been here for a long time, who are bicultural and bilingual, and more recent immigrants," she says. "Bicultural Latinos may choose to embrace Latin music, but they’ve also grown up listening to hip-hop and R&B. Jennifer Lopez is someone like that, so to accuse her of being a cultural turncoat is unfair." His diva fiance wouldn't stand for drinking from the low-budget joint and asked Ben to drive their Mercedes up to the Starbucks in Central Square to pick up the more upscale drink for her.

October 16, 2003 - 'Jersey Girl' director Kevin Smith is angrily denying reports that the film's stars Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez won't be featured in the movie's promotional material. "Speaking as a guy who's about as close to this movie and the marketing plans as it gets, I can tell you that there's no truth to that story," Smith insisted. "Market the movie on me? So fu**ing ridiculous. Trust me: I've seen the marketing concepts on this movie from as early on as when we were still shooting upto just yesterday. EVERY poster is centered around Affleck. October 14, 2003 - Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com reports that Vera Wang is furious over Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck cancelling their wedding, according to a source. "Jennifer got Vera Wang to make her an incredibly gorgeous dress, and really ran Vera’s staff ragged," an insider told Walls. "The gown is worth at least $15,000 to $20,000, but Jennifer insisted she get it for free. The idea was that the publicity from the wedding would more than pay for the cost. Now, no wedding, and no publicity." No comment from either party was given.

October 13, 2003 - The Sun has a photo of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez visiting Ben's mother Chris while the couple were in Boston for the Red Sox game against the New York Yankees. October 13, 2003 - Ben Affleck spoke with ABC's 'Nightline' about his fiance and Yankees cheerleader Jennifer Lopez and how he's been able to watches the Boston Red Sox games when the couple is together in Georgia. "In my space," Ben explained. "You know, you can't ask somebody who's born in the Bronx not to root for the Yankees, but you can ask them to do it downstairs." When moderator Chris Bury asked him about the baseball allegiances of his children, Affleck said, "All I can tell you is that there will never be any pinstripes in my home, I can assure you of that." October 12, 2003 - Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were on hand at Fenway Park on Saturday (October 11) to watch the Boston Red Sox take on the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series in Boston. October 10, 2003 - Us Weekly reports Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's photos will not be shown on the posters of their upcoming film 'Jersey Girl.' After the disastrous results of promoting the duo's romance, in an attempt to boost the dismal 'Gigli,' the producers of 'Jersey Girl' have decided the promotional materials for the Kevin Smith-directed flick should not include the faces of either Affleck or J.Lo. "After 'Gigli,' [Miramax] doesn't want to take any chances with another laughingstock flop,'' a source explained. The advertising reportedly will boost 'Jersey Girl' as another Kevin Smith film.

"But all the editors had to sign releases that they would not ask her anything about Ben." Lopez and Affleck have left Savannah and are currently hiding out in Miami.

October 5, 2003 - SJ writes "Talk-show host Sharon Osbourne recently insulted Hollwood actor Ben Affleck by offering him a measly $1,000 for Jennifer Lopez's engagment ring. Affleck reportedly spent a whopping $1 million dollars on the pink diamond ring but after their wedding was called off last month, Osbourne apparently approached Affleck on the streets of Hollywood on Monday to ask if she could have the ring at a discounted rate. On 'The Sharon Osbourne Show' Wednesday, Osbourne said "Ben, I've been asking you to let me have the first bid on the ring and you haven't called. I keep going and saying to my husband, 'If Ben calls me and says that we can put a bid in the for the ring, how much will you give me?' He's going, 'Maybe a grand, that's it. It's not worth any more'.""

Diddy' Combs’ girlfriend Kim Porter lashed out at Jennifer Lopez after hearing the diva was calling her man to be comforted after Ben Affleck backed out of their wedding plans. Word is, Kim Porter got a hold of J Lo’s cell phone number and actually confronted her. All this coming after Kim supposedly ordered Diddy to stop talking to her. Porter reportedly screamed at J.Lo to leave her man alone and threatened to "kick her fat ass so hard, she won’t be able to sit down again until the 4th of July" and also tellin’ her to "get your life together on your own and leave us out of it."

October 2, 2003 - SJ writes "Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are set for the ultimate humiliation, as their latest movie 'Gigli' is set to be dropped by every cinema in Britain. When it opened Friday, more than 70 UK cinemas opted to screen the film, but now none are planning to keep the film showing for a second week. 'Gigli' even failed to make the box office top 15.
