December 25, 2003 - Fox News
profiled the up and downside of media overexposure, training their eyes
on Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. "Britney
Spears is someone who is extremely well-managed -- the people who are handling
her career have done an incredibly good job of putting her out there and
pulling her back,” said Bill Stankey of Westport Entertainment, a celebrity
consulting firm. New York Post movie critic Lou Lumenick says, "It’s a
real science. There are people who make a very good living advising stars
how to do this, but a lot of them just can’t resist the limelight. They
don’t have the willpower to resist the cameras and the red carpet -- they’re
drawn to it like moths to a flame. And Ben and Jen are the worst abusers."

has not let all the publicity around his relationship with Jennifer Lopez

the supermarket or the ones where they make up some spat between some couple.
Now I see people in the supermarket checking out the tabloids and I’m like,
‘don’t read that! Don’t give them your money!’" And yet it is not just
in tabloids. He says, "It seems weird, a little bit embarrassing, because
it seems like an awful lot of attention for not much, really. I sort of

goes on." Watch the interview here.

after causing chaos on one of their photo shoots, where she walked away
with thousands of dollars in free merchandise. "There is an unwritten understanding
that whenever someone does one of our shoots they can help themselves to
a few things," a source on the Paris set revealed. "These are pieces they
have worn and really taken a shine to. But Jennifer totally went to town
and pretty much emptied the studio. She got her entourage to bag up items
worth thousands. She took shoes, dresses, bags — everything. An assistant
went down the row of tables and loaded up duffle bags. Around ten minutes
later everyone was standing around in shock when they got a call from Jennifer’s
people — she’d forgotten a pair of socks." Read more.

December 7, 2003 - In Simon
Cowell's new book, 'I Don’t Mean to Be Rude, But ... Idol Backstage Gossip
and the Secrets that Can Make You a Star', the 'American Idol' judge weighs
in on the success of Jennifer Lopez and her ex-boyfriend Sean 'P. Diddy'
Combs, suggesting a large preference for J.Lo. He writes, "In today’s celebrity-obsessed
world, every youngster wants to be famous. Who wouldn’t? The crazy excesses
of stars like J.Lo and P. Diddy make for fascinating reading and inspire
thousands of would-be pop stars to run out and hire a voice coach. J.Lo,
in particular, embodies the American Dream: Her rags-to-riches story proves
that anyone can do great things with hard work, talent, and a little luck.
With charisma, charm, and that elusive X Factor, J.Lo has been able to
achieve unparalleled success in both her singing and acting careers ('Gigli'
aside). And anyone who can make light of herself by saying, 'You can serve
coffee using my rear as a ledge' is fine by me. If you are an aspiring
P. Diddy, however, you should remember that you won’t just have to buy
nice suits. You’ll also have to see to it that your initials are sewn onto
every sheet, pillowcase, and white suede chair that adorns your home. Sad."

reports Ben Affleck has admitted his high profile relationship with Jennifer
Lopez has wrecked his box office clout and turned his fans against him.
"My relationship with Jennifer has absolutely been bad for my career. The
over- exposure this year has been really damaging," Affleck moaned. "The
combination of me and Jennifer as a unit became more important than the
parts we did in movies. It’s not good when everybody knows everything about
you — the mystique disappears. The whole world knew what we were doing
on a daily basis. They wrote that we had bought jeans for half a million
dollars. It made people think bad about us. But it’s not important. People
who regard that as important have lost their soul." Read more.
