February 26, 2004 - Just about a year before Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez nixed their $2 million September nups, 'Jersey Girl' director Kevin Smith had them on set at St. John's Church in Paulsboro, New Jersey in a "low-rent version of their dream day." After the implosion of their real wedding last September, the director decided to scrap the scene altogether. "I didn't know (if it was right) to leave it in," Smith tells Us Weekly. "People might forget they're watching a picture, like, 'Wait, didn't these two not get married?''' He added, "At least, I got to go to one of their weddings. And I didn't even have to buy a gift!"

"My phone's always on."

February 23, 2004 - According to Star magazine, it was actually Ben Affleck who dumped Jennifer Lopez after the diva said something had to change in their relationship. When she said something had to give, Ben agreed and suggested they call it quits. "He said he didn't want to get married," the source added. "Jen was positively crushed. She never thought by giving Ben the ultimatum he would force her hand. And when he did, Jen was devastated."

February 14, 2004 - Star magazine caught up with 'Jersey Girl' director Kevin Smith to talk about the new movie and his reaction to his pal Ben Affleck's split with Jennifer Lopez -- both who star in the film. "It's sad, because they were -- and I think they still are -- really into one another," Smith said. "You'll see it in the flick: There's real heat there. The performance we got out of Ben in this movie -- which is hands down his best work -- is because he was so fu**ing in love with her. You can't pin the blame on anybody. All relationships run their course. All the media attention certainly didn't help. It's definitely a shame."

February 14, 2004 - After Jennifer Lopez wore a loose-fitting orange dress to the Golden Globe Awards, Globe magazine reports some are speculating that the singer is pregnant. A source added that J.Lo has been down in the dumps since her split with Ben Affleck, pleading with her mother and sister Lynda to keep her company in Los Angeles. "Jennifer is not usually one to mope around," the source said. "She's the kind of woman who, once she makes a decision to do something, just gets on with her life. But she has been very weepy and dejected since the split and, even though she is undoubtedly having a hard time getting over Ben, this could be another indication that she's suffering from the baby blues."

February 8, 2004 - A source close to the production of 'An Unfinished Life' tells Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com that the filmmakers are looking for ways to "minimize" Jennifer Lopez's role in the film. "She's central to the movie — she plays Redford's daughter-in-law and she moves in with him — but with all the fallout from 'Gigli' and from Bennifer, they're trying to emphasize the other characters as much as they can," the source explained. "It's a drama, and right now, Jennifer Lopez is not seen as a serious, dramatic actress and it might be a tough sell to audiences. When it comes to marketing the movie, don't be surprised if Jennifer is not used as the major selling point." That may be difficult though with the press-shy Robert Redford co-starring with Lopez in the flick. Read more.
