April 30, 2002 - Jessica Simpson official site moderator AJessFriend revealed more news on what Jessica's been up to, including news that she just shot a Nestle Crunch commercial with Shaquille O'Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA playoffs - which are currently underway (Shaq's Lakers advanced to round 2 on Sunday), so look for those anytime now. In addition, Simpson will be shooting a mini video, singing an Elvis song for a TV special to promote the upcoming summer movie 'Lilo And Stitch', which will come out presumably in June.

April 29, 2002 - BigFanOfJess, another moderator at Jessica Simpson's official site message board tells fans that Simpson has written more than 40 songs since February and hopes to begin recording on her new album next month. The moderator also revealed that Simpson will be attending the Kentucky Derby on the 3rd and 4th of May and will be hosting a radio show in Philadelphia on May 10th. Read more.

April 28, 2002 - AJessFriend, moderator at Jessica Simpson's official site message board, posted additional details on the upcoming projects Jessica will be involved with. AJF writes, "I hinted about a movie, but there aren't a lot of details. She is looking at several movie scripts and is down to one she loves and if things work out shooting could begin in July." As for her CBS special aboard the USS Truman, AJF revealed, "She is singing a song that she chose especially for the troops. It is called 'I Will Remember This'. Her songwriting partner wrote it about Joe's mom but it fits so well for America at this time that it seemed appropriate she perform it for the troops." Read more.

April 26, 2002 - AJessFriend, the moderator at Jessica Simpson's official site message board told fans on Thursday that Jess and her 98 Degrees fiance Nick Lachey will wed before year's end, "They've set a date! That's all I can tell you for now--exact date & other details to be announced later. All I can say is, it will be before the end of 2002." The moderator promises more news over the next few days, including news that Jessica taped PSAs on behalf of Boys Town, a charitable organization helping the nation's youth today. Read more.

April 24, 2002 - Variety reports Jessica Simpson will be on the lineup for a CBS special broadcast May 25 called 'Rockin for the USA'. The event films this weekend from the USS Harry S. Truman, the newest and largest nuclear aircraft carrier. Also on the lineup are performers Celine Dion, Clint Black, Marc Anthony, and Lonestar. The show is hosted by Oscar winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.

April 22, 2002 - The New York Post reports Jessica Simpson is amongst the guests scheduled to be at New York Mayor Bloomberg's after-party at the Trade Ministry of the Russian Federation, held after the White House Correspondents dinner on May 4th. Others scheduled to attend include Ozzy Osbourne and Jamie Lynn Sigler.

April 18, 2002 - 'Jessluvsnick' from Jessica Simpson's official site message board posted a bunch of pictures featuring Jessica Simpson and her fiance Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees at the NFL Pro Bowl in February. Jess performed at the game while Nick looked on. Check out the pictures here.

April 18, 2002 - 98 Degrees webmaster Devon sounded off on fans and critics of the group after his recent post refuting a news item submitted on popdirt.com by Mustangman9500 which questioned whether Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were truly a couple, as well as other fans who griped about the handling of the group's publicity. Devon said, "No one asked me to post the message. I no longer work for 98 Degrees, and have never been employed by their management or their label. In fact, my limited relationship with Universal has ranged from strained to terrible. I haven't made a penny from doing this site since October 2001. I keep it up and running because I care about these guys and their fans." 
Devon explained further, "I spoke up about Nick because I was sticking up for my friend. This was completely different from responding without authorization to speculation about 98 Degrees' career. It was a personal attack and I felt comfortable addressing it this one time. I don't really care if you think it was appropriate or not." Read more.

April 14, 2002 - After fans on 98 Degrees official site message board discussed the item submitted here earlier today by Mustangman9500, the site's webmaster, Devon responded to the allegations. Devon wrote, "I can tell you for a fact that whoever wrote that is full of 100% Grade-A CRAP." Read more.

Magazines such as People, for example, I know will not listen because of certain situations and deals going on between companies. I will be straight forward with this before anything else can happen. I'm shocked no one has come out with this yet. I am a former employee of Universal Records. I do not wish to mention my name or in what department I worked in. I made the choice to leave there. I left Universal Records because I became very tired with some of the shady business that goes on there just as a lot of major and independant record labels. Because Marines under the age of 21 weren't able to attend the event that featured Jessica Simpson, Sugar Ray, and comedian Kevin James, Simpson requested an autograph session in which she could personally show her support for Miramar's troops. April 5, 2002 - The New York Post reports Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees was spotted in the Chicago Bloomingdale's holding hands with a blonde who wasn't his fiancee - Jessica Simpson.

April 5, 2002 - Self magazine's April issue has an article on Jessica Simpson called 'Emotional Rescue', which talks about her close bond with her mother. Simpson is quoted as saying, "My mom has always been there for me and being able to take time out of our schedules to spend it together is great." Simpson also talks about the fear she has in her attempt to write most of her new album, and also her engagement to 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey.
