October 29, 2002 - CDNow.com reports country singer Neal McCoy was called in to sing Van Morrison's 'Crazy Love' for Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's first dance after the couple tied the knot in Austin, Texas on Saturday (October 26). Accompanying McCoy on piano was producer-composer Walter Afansieff, according to a spokesperson for McCoy. Simpson and McCoy met last year during the USO holiday tour. Read more.

October 29, 2002 - InStyle magazine has the first photo of Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey getting married over the weekend in Texas. AJessFriend, moderator at the official Jessica Simpson message board explained the picture saying it "was taken as they walked out of the church after the ceremony. It is the shot chosen to release to the media." AJF added, "What you're seeing is a pic taken at the front door of the chapel, looking down the aisle." Check it out here.

October 27, 2002 - The American Statesman reports Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey were married on Saturday at the Barton Creek Country Club in Austin. Beforehand though, the couples danced together with gleeful abandon Thursday night at Speakeasy in Austin. Jessica had her bachelorette party their before Nick and pals joined them. The partying went on until 1 AM.

October 26, 2002 - Extra TV announced tonight that on Monday they'll be doing a special on the wedding for Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees. Presumably, this means either they've already married or will be married this weekend.

October 22, 2002 - Tanya L. Edwards of MTV News played cupid with some current and former musical couples. Amongst the couples with cupid commentary are Jennifer Lopez and former boyfriend Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, Madonna and current husband Guy Ritchie, Britney Spears and her former boyfriend Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC, and Jessica Simpson and fiance Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees. Read more.

October 21, 2002 - A fan posted a transcript for Ashlee Simpson's recent interview with Ramiro on the Jessica Simpson official message board. Ashlee told Ramiro that besides her acting gig on '7th Heaven', she wants to sing like her sister, except of the "punk" genre. "It's not like hard core, but it's like punk like rock kinda of thing," she explained. Asked if she gives Jessica's fiance Nick Lachey a hard time for singing pop, Ashlee said, "No, no, I don't make fun, actually, um, their new music, both of them, is like, really really good and I am really impressed. It's not like, um, uh. Jessica's music is amazing, it's got this whole like, new turn to it. It's like, Gosh I can't even explain it, but it's almost like it's almost like, Sade meets Jewel or something, it's really beautiful." Read more.

October 17, 2002 - Star magazine reports celebrities such as Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, and Paula Abdul flock to the Uvasun tanning center in West Hollywood. They don't use the passe cancer causing tanning beds, but instead use the center's safe airbrush spray-tan called Mystic Tan. You may not recognize them there though, because no makeup is allowed for the treatment.

While only offering that the marriage would occur this month, Lachey explained, "It's just something that, you know, was definitely the right time and the right thing to do.
