January 30, 2004 - According to MTV News, Jessica Simpson has just been added to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. MTV's 12-minute program will commence with a short film, and then Jessica will call for the party to start. From there she'll hand it over to Texas Southern University and the University of Houston marching bands, which will unite as one leading the way for Ms. Jackson. Read more.

"The music industry right now, it's not even fun, so this is just God opening bigger doors," WENN quotes the 'Newlyweds' star admitting. "This way, when I want to focus on music again, it'll actually be out of love and passion. Musically, my dream is to do what Norah Jones did. I can't play the piano but to sit next to the piano and just sing... and not have to put on a big elaborate show. I just miss the old Hollywood Bing Crosby-like love for music. January 19, 2004 - In Touch reports that a website is claiming to have 45 minutes of 'XXX-unedited footage' of Jessica Simpson and her husband Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees having sex after getting into an argument. The site says it was culled from unedited footage of the couple's hit MTV reality show, 'Newlyweds,' using cameras triggered whenever there was movement in the bedroom. Simpson's publicist tells the magazine the tape is a complete hoax. "It is not them, and lawyers are getting involved," the flack insisted.

January 17, 2004 - The New York Daily News reports Jessica Simpson and her husband Nick Lachey have signed to do a variety special that will air on ABC later this season, as the network hopes to turn the couple into the new Sonny and Cher. "They do have a nice yin and yang to them, which, I think, is what you need for co-hosts of a variety show," ABC Entertainment president Susan Lyne said of the Lacheys. "They are also multitalented. "A lot of people will be very surprised by her in this role," said producers Curt Johnson and Mike Julian. Simpson will play the high school sweetheart of baseball's David Clyde, the Texas Ranger credited with saving the team in 1973. The Clyde role has yet to be cast.
