February 26, 2004 - MTV News
reports that while much of Jessica Simpson's appeal on 'Newlyweds' is as
a ditzy blonde, she argues in the 28-page book proposal for 'Jessica Simpson
and Nick Lachey's Secrets for a Happy (and Sexy!) Marriage' that she has
a serious side too. "I know what you're thinking: 'Jessica Simpson, what
does she know about books?' " the singer wrote. "I mean, anyone who has
ever seen my show ... probably thinks I wouldn't know a book if one fell
on my head. But let me let you in on a little secret: I am not as dumb
as I look ... [and] for those of you who think I can't read or write, know
this: I have written in a journal every night for the past 12 years." Read

Hollywood's Tony Potts caught up with 98 Degrees star Nick Lachey on the
set of 'I'm With Her,' where he's filming a guest spot, to get his response
on a report in Us Weekly that claimed his marriage to Jessica Simpson is
falling apart due to her success. "Look they are in the business of selling
magazines and I'm in the business of being married," Lachey said. "That's
what I put as my priority. You can't read too much into what people say.
Even with interviews you do, magazines tend to twist it in a way that makes
their story more enticing. They put a headline out there that says maybe
one small piece of the story, but it's how they sell magazines. I think
that as a celebrity you can't start to let that stuff affect your life
and dictate the way you live your life. You just have to let it roll right
off, man." Check out the transcript here.

magazine's new cover story, Staff Editor B.J. Sigesmund says the 'Newlyweds'
stars Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees and Jessica Simpson are headed for choppy
waters. When the couple arrived at the Golden Globes, photographers asked
Nick to move aside so they could photograph Jessica. Also, at last week’s
pre-Grammy bash, Jessica received all of the attention, the magazine reported.
Meanwhile, Nick was miffed at Jessica’s bigger role on a VH-1 skit, and
his role in their public service announcement all but disappeared. Read

who is married to Orlando Magic player Grant Hill, tells Jawn Murray in
the current issue of Smooth magazine that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's
'Newlyweds' show is not indicative of her marriage. "That's not my household,"
Tamia quipped. "They’re both kind of young and new in marriage. One thing
that I did learn is what works for one married couple may not work for
the rest. Every married couple is different. You can’t look at that and
say that represents all marriages. It really doesn’t; at least not in my
household." Read more.

definitely not them and it must be look-alikes," the friend explained.
"When she heard about the tape, she told me she was so embarrassed that
she broke down and cried. Jessica called her close family members, including
her father - who is a minister - to warn them about the website's claims
before they heard about it on the news. She told me it was the toughest
thing she's every had to do." The couple's rep told the tabloid, "It is
not them, and lawyers are getting involved. Any such website is entirely
bogus."

magazine show life in a tails spin."

'In the Zone' moved up to number 6 in its 11th week on the chart. Jessica
Simpson's album 'In This Skin' has moved up to number 17 on Billboard's
Hot 200. The increase in album sales has likely been because of their suprise
hit makers 'With You' and 'Toxic'. 'With You' was at number 24 last week
