June 25, 2004 - The Associated Press reports Jessica Simpson canceled her Tuesday show in Providence because of a kidney infection, a spokeswoman at Columbia Records said. Simpson, 23, was under a doctor's care and planned to resume her tour in New Hampshire on Wednesday, said Renee Pfefer. Read more.

June 25, 2004 - Martin Johnson of New York Newsday shared his thoughts on Jessica Simpson after her show at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night, (June 18), who he says is "paving the most multifaceted career path of" her pop peers. Johnson writes, "Thus far, her music is the least interesting part of her career." He added, "The concert's covers were more compelling than the original material. Simpson's songs border on the generic. The chord changes in her power ballads and the melodies in her mid-tempo dance tunes probably require only a few mouse clicks in the right computer program to create." Read more.

June 25, 2004 - Sky News reports Jessica Simpson's cover of the Robbie Williams hit 'Angels' has gone so well on U.S. radio that she plans to release it as her next single.

June 25, 2004 - Dan Aquilante of the New York Post reviewed Jessica Simpson's concert at her Radio City Music Hall debut Friday (June 18). Aquilante writes, "Her singing was shrill in her upper register, but fine in the middle, particularly when she unhinged her lower jaw and opened her mouth wide. Although the I-can-eat-an-apple-whole look ain't a pretty sight, especially when she held a note for emphasis, you have to give her props for her pipes." June 21, 2004 - Jessica Simpson insisted to The New York Daily News that she's ditzy, not dumb. "Dumb is just completely out of it, not knowing anything that is going on," Simpson explained. "Hopefully you won't see me fall on my face or forget the words to my song," Simpson in Orlando, six days into her new concert tour. But Simpson admitted she's even more excited about her upcoming 24th birthday: "I just hope [Nick Lachey] gets to be there. That's my birthday wish, is I'll get to be with my husband." Much of the tension revolves around CaCee Cobb, Simpson's best friend and road manager, who moves in with the couple while she's looking for an apartment. Jessica also is featured berating Nick for not opening her car door. "You always opened doors for me when we first got married," she complained. With Simpson selling 50,000 copies or so a week of 'In This Skin', Rose wondered who is buying the disc. "I don't know," Simpson said. "At my shows lately there's been a range from 10-year-olds to 55-year-olds. June 7, 2004 - Where 'Newlyweds' plays like a sitcom because of Jessica Simpson's ditzy persona, the six-episode 'Ashlee' series promises to be more of a teen drama, following the younger sister Ashlee Simpson on her path to becoming a music star as she signs with a record label and starts recording her debut album, 'Autobiography', due July 20th. "I started making my album about seven months ago," Simpson tells MTV News, "and I was just signing to the label when my dad [Joe Simpson, executive producer of 'Newlyweds'] was like, 'How would you like to do a reality show?' And I was like, 'Hell, no!' And the reason I said that was my sister had her show and everything. But then he said, 'What if it were about the making of the album?' June 3, 2004 - The Associated Press reports Jessica Simpson has filed a breach of contract lawsuit claiming a New Jersey producer-promoter owes her $140,000. Simpson's lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court, says she agreed to perform for an hour on October 23rd, 2003, at the Grand Prix of Puerto Rico. She also agreed to wear a T-shirt imprinted with the logo 'Motorock', an auto racing company, while filming a music video. Read more.
