May 26, 2005 - A source who was at last week's Costume Institute Gala and spoke with Jessica Simpson claims the singer admitted she and hubby Nick Lachey are no longer together. "I asked [Jessica] where Nick was [that night] and she told me, 'Oh, Nick and I aren't together,'-- as if I was the last to hear the news," the source said. A pal of the 98 Degrees singer added, "Nick and Jessica may be separated. I know their publicists and managers are trying to figure everything out in terms of their careers, but it seems like there's no more marriage."

May 26, 2005 - Jessica Simpson's rep shot down a report in Star magazine that the 'Newlyweds' star needed a butt double in her big screen debut as Daisy Duke in 'The Dukes of Hazzard'. "The word on the set was: 'Jessica's butt is too flat. We need a rounder, sexier rear end, and someone with better legs," a source told the tabloid. Simpson's rep responded to Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com that it's "not true — it's all Jessica."

May 26, 2005 - 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest was on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' on Monday and used the opportunity to make fun of judge Simon Cowell. When Leno suggested it was a good thing the two of them are such close friends and how he couldn't imagine how catty this would be if they didn't like each other, Seacrest responded by comparing their friendship to the much-gossiped about marriage of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson. "We're like Nick and Jessica," Seacrest explained. "You know, it's like we can't stand each other, but we stay together because it makes great TV." That prompted Leno to ask, "I'm guessing you're Jessica?" Seacrest responded, "Don't be ridiculous! Why, because of the highlights?"

May 12, 2005 - Ben Widdicombe of The New York Daily News was in Louisville Friday ahead of today's Kentucky Derby and said that Nick Lachey was still a no-show at the event in wake of wife Jessica Simpson not planning to attend and rumors she's having an affair with 'Dukes of Hazzard' co-star Johnny Knoxville. When Simpson attended the Met Costume Gala earlier this week, Widdicombe said publicists not connected to the 'Newlyweds' couple were gossiping that a split announcement could be coming next week. May 12, 2005 - The New York Daily News reports Hard Rock exec Harry Morton, the 24-year-old son of owner Peter Morton, sent over six bottles of Champagne to Jessica Simpson at Body English the other night, according to a spy. Unfortunately, Simpson couldn't be bothered to acknowledge the kind gesture, prompting Morton to leave dejected. Then, after giving an autograph-seeker the finger, Simpson "started dancing like a maniac, at one point grinding with some unknown pretty boy," claimed the spy. "Nick [Lachey] didn't even appear to be an afterthought." Simpson's rep responded, "I don't know what's worse, the people who make this stuff up or the fact that people believe it."
