Awards because the 'Dukes Of Hazzard' star made exorbitant demands that
would have cost the weekly hundreds of thousands of dollars. "Her demands
became outrageous," an insider explained. "She wanted everyone to set up
shop at 6 a.m. and be there for like 24 hours. She wanted $20,000 for hair

know, we like to do the specials, and we went over to Iraq and performed
for the troops. We like to do stuff like that. I don't know if we'll ever
really do a movie together. I read somewhere that we were going to do 'Grease.'

of joy to rival Julia Roberts', turns Daisy into a vibrantly luscious comic
tease. She's Little Annie Fanny as the world's most self-mocking Hooters
waitress, and it will be no surprise if Simpson's star keeps rising long
after she has hung up her short shorts." Read more.

an on-set relationship with his co-star in 'The Dukes of Hazzard', Jessica
Simpson? "She's not jumping up and down with glee, but we handle it," he

always moments of uncomfortableness, but we talked through it, and it's
fine. Luckily, we have a dialogue: I tell her before something hits the
papers. It's unfortunate, but we deal with it."

'The Dukes of Hazzard', horrified by the flick. "Everything about 'Dukes'
is an abomination," Normal writes. "Absolutely do not go see it. It will
maim you. Your spirit will be crushed. You’ll need an intervention. No
one will talk to you if they find out you saw it. Unless, of course, you
are an 11-year-old boy. They'll adore Jessica Simpson's boobs and the bland
car chases." What does Abbie have to say about Simpson's performance? "There
is a zombie-esque quality about this woman that makes me gasp," she writes.
"Nothing about her is real. Her teeth are so huge and white they are like
envelopes sticking out of her mouth. I'm certain she is evil. Rob Zombie

August 11, 2005 - Christopher
Kelly of Knight Ridder Newspapers spoke with the stars of 'The Dukes Of
Hazzard', coming away impressed with the intelligence shown by Seann William
Scott and Johnny Knoxville, but not so much with Jessica Simpson. "I wish
I could report that, in person, Jessica Simpson is a sparkling wit," Kelly
writes. "Alas, the highlight of our interview was when she mispronounced
the word 'memorable' as 'memorables' — and then giggled and corrected herself,
and then paused and looked around the room, almost as if she were hoping
a camera had captured her adorable gaffe." He added, "With her short, declarative
sentences and her easily distracted manner, you can never quite tell if
Simpson is acting in the interview or just out to lunch. But the longer
you sit across from her, the more you realize it doesn’t much matter."

August 11, 2005 - About.com
spoke with Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey at 'The Dukes of Hazzard'
Los Angeles Premiere, where they both addressed the continued speculation
over their marriage fueled by tabloid breakup reports. "At the end of the
day we're madly in love and people will see that through the tabloids hopefully,"
Simpson said. "It's going to be something new every week – another fabricated
story. But if you really read all the stories, it's the same thing every
week. Find something new!" Lachey added, "It's like, 'Surely this is going
to be the last one... This will be the last one.' And they just keep putting
them out. But I guess in some strange, twisted way it's a form of flattery
in that people are interested in what's going on with us. But it is frustrating."

August 11, 2005 - Michael
Rechtshaffen of the Hollywood Reporter reviewed Jessica Simpson's big-screen
debut 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'. He writes, "Recruited to fill out that item
of apparel made famous by the underrated Catherine Bach, meanwhile, Jessica
Simpson and her attire make equally brief appearances. More of her actual
performance might turn up on DVD, but the bits that make it into the theatrical
version play like outtakes from her more entertaining 'These Boots Are
Made for Walkin'' video." Read more.
August 11, 2005 - The Associated
Press reports during her co-hosting gig Friday on 'Live With Regis and
Kelly', Jessica Simpson said she had to "step into those shorts and the

Daisy Duke is an "iconish", rather than "iconic", figure. Read more.

August 11, 2005 - In an interview
with Marie Claire, Reese Witherspoon lashed out at young starlets such
as Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson for disregarding the progress made
by the feminist movement. "What gets me is how many women -- young women
-- give up their power and their sense of self," Witherspoon said heatedly.
"Thinking they're going to get more out of life if they take off their
clothes and objectify themselves, instead of functioning on the principle
that they're smart and capable, that you can be an actress and not be on
the covers of T&A magazines. I'm flabbergasted by how many legitimate
actresses do that. It blows my mind." The actress added, "I don't think
these women are stupid. I think they're selling a personality that's very
marketable: 'Wouldn't it be fun if we were all gorgeous and didn't have
a care?' But creating a cultural icon out of someone who goes, 'I'm stupid,
isn't it cute?' makes me want to throw daggers at them! I want to say to
them, 'My grandma did not fight for what she fought for, and my mother
did not fight for what she fought for, so you can start telling women it's
fun to be stupid.' Saying that to young women, little girls, my daughter?
It's not okay." Read more.
August 11, 2005 - Jack Mathews
of The New York Daily News reviewed Jessica Simpson's big-screen debut
'The Dukes Of Hazzard', giving the film only 1 1/2 stars. Mathews writes,
"If the pop singer's wardrobe is meant as a distraction from her performance,
it only works for a little while. Simpson is about as comfortable in front
of the camera as a rabbit about to meet its fate in front of a speeding
car." Read more.

August 11, 2005 - The skimpy
costumes in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' took some getting used to for Jessica
Simpson, particularly the sexy short-shorts and revealing tops for which
Daisy Duke is known. Though Simpson has used her sex appeal as a pop star,
playing a character that manipulates men to get what she wants felt completely
odd, she tells columnist Angela Dawson. "I don't think I can get whatever
I want because I would be way too shy to drop a jacket and have only a
bikini on underneath," she notes. "That's just not me." Read more.
August 11, 2005 - Moviehole
caught up with Jessica Simpson for a Q&A and asked 'The Dukes Of Hazzard'
star if her priority right now is her movie career or her singing career.
"It's all a priority," Simpson said. "I'm trying to balance everything.
I have a workout video that's about to come out. I have a clothing line
called [sounds like] Trendy, shoe line that's about to come out. I'm a
little busy. But I try to make everything a priority. I put my hands in
everything, and I make sure nothing comes out that I don't approve or am
creatively involved in." Check out the entire interview here.

it off, it works." Read more.

fee he negotiated for Jessica's cover story of the mag's first issue. "It's

manager and they are making money." Read more.

Dr. Vail Reese on his skinema.com blog is questioning the crediblity of
Jessica Simpson, who now claims in commercials for Proactiv that their
product cleared her skin, contrary to earlier claims crediting the prescription
medicine Accutane. "In my experience... the beneficial results from Accutane
for cases of persistent cystic acne are clear," Reese writes. "Proactiv,
on the other hand, might work for mild cases (the ingredients, benzoyl
peroxide and glycolic acid, are available over-the-counter at any pharmacy).
It seems that Simpson is no longer giving credit to the treatment that
really helped her skin." Read more.

mouths actually said that the papers have, in fact, actually been signed.

August 4, 2005 - Leah McLaren
of the Globe and Mail shared her thoughts on Jessica Simpson, comparing
the 'Dukes Of Hazzard' star to America's president. "Think of her as the
female George W. Bush. Like her president, she is a cipher -- a blank slate
who has been packaged into an icon," McLaren writes. "This busty personification
of Bush-era values has managed to elbow her way into the coveted wartime
role of America's Sweetheart -- the one that Britney vacated the night
she got hammered and hitched in Vegas. Unlike Spears, Simpson seems to
have little angst or frustration about her role as the Good Girl." Read

to her health regimen and likes the 'South Beach Diet', but still eats

Simpson said. "That's why I didn't end up going into the Christian music
industry. I think that if they're really good Christians the judgment wouldn't
be there."

as part of an ABC special left out harrowing footage to avoid controversy.

the enemy attacks and the shelling," Simpson said. "There was so much stuff

in perspective for me. It really did teach me the definition of sacrifice.

Simpson debunked the anonymous e-mail that swept through Hollywood earlier
this month, which claimed that she was leaving hubby Nick Lachey for her
'Dukes of Hazzard' co-star Johnny Knoxville. "It's hard because you don't
want people to believe that you and the man of your life are not in love
anymore, when you are madly in love," Simpson insisted. "When I read that
me and Johnny were going to walk down the red carpet together as a couple,
I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, what is this world coming to?'" Read more and watch
