September 20, 2005 - With Jessica Simpson clearly getting more job opportunities than hubby Nick Lachey, the 98 Degrees singer has been letting Jess call the shots in a bid to save their marriage, and is even keeping quiet about her family. "He's fought with Jessica over how much control her father and the rest of her family have over their lives, and he's fought with her over how much she tries to control him," a source tells Star magazine. 'But I think Nick is getting sick of his own squawking." The source added, "In the early days, Nick was carousing with the guys and ogling strippers. Now he's bolstering Jessica at events and doing everything for her."

"He is bitter because the girls refused to compromise their integrity due to the type of shots he wanted to take. The girls were willing to compromise ideas and bring them into a more believable/fan friendly format but David LaChapelle was unwilling to work with them. It was his way or the highway. The Simpson girls chose the highway! They will never compromise their values for a photoshoot. "The truth is she would come in and did some auditions and they were quiet and small," Chandrasekhar tells The Daily Telegraph. "They weren't bad, but they were quiet, nervous and shy. I said 'What's going on?' She said 'I'm fu**ing scared'. I said 'You're not going to get the part unless you smile and you have to be charming. They have nothing. They hold no interest whatsoever for anybody. They're reality-red-carpet, lip-synching television stars. I don't know what they are beyond that. I don't think they offer anything." At the Ocean Drive/Bodog party, Simpson demanded of her hubby: "Are we gonna do this together?" The 98 Degrees singer shrugged indifferently, a spy reported. Once inside the VIP section of the Loews Hotel, Nick and Jessica barely spoke.
