January 18, 2006 - People magazine reports that the multi-million-dollar Calabasas, California home that Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson made famous during the filming of their MTV hit 'Newlyweds' is up for sale, with a listing price of $3.75 million. Read more.

January 18, 2006 - Though Jessica Simpson coldly told Nick Lachey "she wasn't in love with him anymore and said she was filing divorce papers" when the singer attempted to save their marriage last month, the 98 Degrees star doesn't have any animosity towards her. "He doesn't want a 'War of the Roses'," a friend tells Star magazine. "He just wants the divorce to move quickly."

January 18, 2006 - Nick Lachey is speaking out on his failed marriage to Jessica Simpson in the new issue of Elle magazine. The singer admits he's still kind of surprised his marriage ended so soon, but attributes the relationship changing to "the exposure," and thinks the couple's most romantic moment was only made possible because it took place before all the cameras came into their lives, when they were sitting on a beach in Hawaii watching fireworks going off. He said his biggest weakness was being too open. "I'm typically an overly sensitive person, I lay my heart out there too often," he said. "I've never been shy about crying. January 18, 2006 - Jessica Simpson is set to open the 32nd Annual People's Choice Awards with a very special performance, 'Access Hollywood' has learned. "We are so delighted to have Jessica opening for what's sure to be a very exciting People's Choice Awards. Jessica's true vocal talent, unlimited energy and undeniable charisma will truly be a great addition to this year's show," says Carol Donovan, executive producer of The People's Choice Awards. "She comes across as such a goody-two-shoes," a friend of the former couple said. "I'm finding out all these things about her and putting together things she has told me. I'm just now realizing what a good liar she was. That's how Nick feels too - totally in shock." January 18, 2006 - An insider tells The Star that Jessica Simpson made a late-night call to Nick Lachey where the 'Dukes of Hazzard' star talked in a baby voice, saying things like "Whatcha doing? Where are you?" and "I miss you, sweetie." Another source added, "I hear she's called Nick several times, and each time she's been very emotional. Maybe after she's had a few glasses of wine, she gets the desire to phone and pour her heart out. I don't think she's over him yet. She's very confused and just can't let go." Read more.

January 18, 2006 - The New York Post reports Jessica Simpson was spotted picking up a framed lithograph by artist Todd Goldman of a stick woman at the Jack Gallery in Monterey titled, "You Say I'm a Bitch Like It's a Bad Thing," one of an edition of 350 prints. The singer Simpson also expressed in terest in some other prints by Goldman on display at the gallery, a spy revealed.

January 7, 2006 - 'Access Hollywood' has named their 'Top 10 Newsmakers Of 2005' based on mentions on the program in the past 12 months, with Michael Jackson topping the list due largely to his aquittal on child molestation charges. "I'm excited about this Nick and Jessica thing right now," Gibbard said. "The façade has has finally been ripped down and it's good to know that these people are human. Maybe."

January 7, 2006 - A source tells Star magazine that a few months ago, before Jessica Simpson announced plans to end her 3-year marriage to Nick Lachey, the 'Dukes Of Hazzard' star was spotted at Los Angeles nightclub privilege engaging in unfaithful contact with Trace Ayala while her hubby was only feet away. Ayala put his hand on Jessica's leg and brushed it all the way under her skirt, several times. "It was so obvious, anyone could have seen it," the source revealed. "But Nick just stood there with his back turned. He didn't seem happy to be there all night." Given gossip about Ayala, as well as her 'Dukes' co-star Johnny Knoxville, skater Bam Margera, and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, Lachey is doubting Jessica's honesty with him. "I think Nick is pissed because he feels betrayed by Jessica and also because he feels like a chump," a source said. So will Lachey take it out on Simpson in the divorce settlement? "If pushed hard enough, I think Nick will do whatever he needs to protect himself," an insider remarked. "You could say that Nick knows where all of Jessica's skeletons are buried."

January 7, 2006 - After purchasing a $3 million home in Beverly Hills, The New York Post hears that Jessica Simpson is also looking for a place in New York City's Chelsea district. The newly single singer viewed a $5 million duplex, with a private conservatory and heated floors, at the Altair building. "She wants to start fresh, and she loves New York - it's always been good to her," a friend revealed.

January 7, 2006 - Though Jessica Simpson was to be in Hawaii with her family for the holidays, In Touch magazine's Dan Wakeford tells 'Extra' the singer decided to lay low in wake of her breakup with Nick Lachey. "Jessica is just not in the mood to party," Wakeford said. Additionally, Wakeford commented on the mag's report Britney Spears is ready for another baby, despite continued gossip her marriage to Kevin Federline is on the ropes. "Britney's marriage has been very rocky," Wakeford said. "And Britney feels one way to solve this is to have another baby."

January 7, 2006 - OK! magazine is painting an angelic image of Jessica Simpson and her parents in wake of her split from Nick Lachey. The mag, which reportedly has a big money contract with Simpson, says since the split she is "in mourning and has cried lots of tears," according to an insider. The biased blabbermouth adds that Jessica is "not angry with Nick. They still talk to each other, and she won't let anybody say a bad word about him." Even parents Joe and Tina Simpson are "not dancing with joy" over the breakup. "Her family liked Nick," a friend said. "Joe and Tina are Baptists and have been married 30 years. They don't believe in divorce..." What about Nick? The insider says the 98 Degrees star is "very angry", adding, "The best thing for that relationship would have been for Jessica's career to bomb because that would have made things more equal between them." The source was further critical of Lachey by revealing that "he wouldn't admit he made a mistake. He didn't want to admit their marriage was a failure. He was too stubborn to admit they should separate." But won't Jessica look bad filing for divorce? OK! stated that "their selfless actions should be admired", and the source concurred, "Jessica was incredibly brave to end things - respect to her."

January 7, 2006 - In the new issue of Us Weekly, those close to Nick Lachey say the singer felt ignored by ex-wife Jessica Simpson. "He has realized the relationship is over and it's time to move on," Us Weekly's Katrina Szish tells 'Extra'. "She would never call him to check in. She would always go out with her friends and leave him alone. And if he did come along, she would ignore him all nightlong." Read more.
