March 26, 2006 - Jessica Simpson was on Capitol Hill Thursday to lobby Congress for Operation Smile, an organization that provides reconstructive surgery to children with facial deformities. The singer's father Joe tells The Associated Press Jessica "loves the heck out of" President Bush, but still had to avoid a Republican fundraiser. "We went back and forth and we could never get the details worked out," Joe said. "When it became obvious that it was not just a state dinner, it was more of a fundraising event, that is the wrong purpose of why we are here." Read more.

March 26, 2006 - The National Enquirer reports that Jessica Simpson is furious with her ex-hubby Nick Lachey after he has been seen out with his brother Drew Lachey's 'Dancing With The Stars' partner Cheryl Burke, 'Charmed' actress Alyssa Milano, and 'Laguna Beach' reality star Kristin Cavalleri. "Jessica is so angry and seems to be full of hatred toward Nick right now that she doesn't care to see or speak to him again," an insider told the tabloid. March 26, 2006 - Reuters reports that concerned about politicizing her favorite charity Operation Smile, Jessica Simpson on Wednesday turned down a invitation to meet with U.S. President George W. Bush, a snub that left Republicans dismayed. "It just feels wrong," one Simpson insider told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that the actress keeps her political views private. "She would love to meet the president and talk about Operation Smile ... but she can't do it at a fund-raiser for the Republican Party." Read more.

March 15, 2006 - NW magazine reports that Britney Spears isn't happy with newly single pop rival Jessica Simpson after the 'Newlyweds' star was spotted at a club with her hubby Kevin Federline. A source revealed that Jessica "heard Kevin has been asking around about Jessica and has even been sending her messages through mutual friends about hooking up if Britney ever flew the coop and left him. When Britney heard this, she broke down and sobbed." A source said that Spears has "been trying to call Jessica to question her about it all, but she's not getting any reply."

March 15, 2006 - Jessica Simpson's former stylist Rachel Zoe was canned because she started "paying attention to her other client, Lindsay Lohan, a bit too much," a spy tells The New York Post. I feel like I can do anything and there's nobody to answer to but myself." W's senior editor McNally tells 'Access Hollywood': "Either Nick or her parents did everything for her, and just recently, (she) asked for her own checkbook for the first time. Jessica seems to be growing up and asserting her independence. Whether it's leaving her husband, buying a house it seems like she doesn't want others controlling her life. She wants to take charge."
