Reports on Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson expecting kids but then splitting, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline headed towards divorce but staying together, and Jennifer Lopez supposedly being pregnant for the past two years straight with no baby yet were amongst items mentioned during the report. August 22, 2006 - Kurt B. Reighley of MSN Music argues "Christina Aguilera is a bona fide musician." Reighley explained, "Her days as a 'teen pop sensation' are long over. She turns 26 this year. She has built a credible pop catalog, one that has shown growth and a willingness to take risks. She has not dallied with TV shows, or children's books or pug rescue charities. Who among her contemporaries can say the same?" He argued that Britney Spears "would have to mount a one-woman production of Wagner's Ring Cycle to accrue anything close to credibility at this point," while Jessica Simpson continues her habit of "desperate recycling" with 'A Public Affair', "a cheap imitation of a Madonna classic." August 22, 2006 - An insider tells Us Weekly Jessica and Ashlee Simpson are fed up with their father Joe after the former Baptist minister told stories at an MTV meeting of helping Jessica to fit for her first bra. "It creeps everyone out," the source said. "And he thinks he knows what he's doing, and that he's doing the best for his kids." Papa Joe's control over his two daughters has increasingly been on the decline. August 22, 2006 - For her second single off 'A Public Affair', Jessica Simpson is eyeing 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)', a reworking of Dead or Alive's '80s hit of the same name. "It's not a cover   it's a sample, really," Jessica explained to MTV News. "I wrote the verses with Cory Rooney. ... When I did 'These Boots Are Made for Walking,' I wrote the verses from the perspective of Daisy Duke, but I didn't change the melody. But with this, we rewrote the melody and kept the chorus the same. And I'm singing in a different register, so people don't know it's me and that's kind of fun." Read more.

August 22, 2006 - The National Enquirer reports Jessica Simpson secretly took an at-home pregnancy test fearing she'd conceived a baby with her 'Employee Of The Month' co-star Dane Cook. "She definitely took an early pregnancy test and, knowing Jessica, she must have been freaking out," a Hollywood insider revealed. "Jessica is a good girl - and a surprise pregnancy isn't something she could go to her agent or her parents about. And of course she no longer has Nick to confide in." Read more.

"Joe is constantly trying to butt in and he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. Jessica took her father's side and fired him."

August 22, 2006 - A phoney report is making the rounds alleging that Jessica Simpson had unflattering things to say about the size of ex-hubby Nick Lachey's package. The fabricated, error filled item, posted August 3rd at celebrityfan.net, a new site which has only posted seven stories, all which appear to varying degrees fake, and sourced to "Times magazine" -- perhaps they meant Time magazine, though Simpson never made those remarks to Time. The fake item had the 'Employee Of The Month' star say, "Nick Lachey didn't pack too well," an unlikely full name method of referring to her ex-husband. The item was this morning picked up by the more popular blog ohnotheydidnt, so will likely gain steam.

August 7, 2006 - With only a month to go until the release of her new CD 'A Public Affair', Jessica Simpson has already switched the cover picture of the album. Jessica's rep Rob Shuter tells TMZ the final decision on a cover had not been made by the time one had to be provided to Jess' record label, so the first cover option (of three choices they had) was given. That cover was ultimately not chosen and Jessica went with the cover shown here.

August 7, 2006 - The National Enquirer reports Nick Lachey brazenly lip-locked with new galpal Vanessa Minnillo at Hyde on July 15th as Jessica Simpson, who had arrived at the Hollywood hotspot earlier in the night looked on. "Jessica and the girls were having a nightcap when who should stroll in but Nick and Vanessa Minnillo," an insider revealed. "The room parted like the Red Sea   everyone's jaw dropped as they made their entrance. Poor Jessica froze in horror."

August 7, 2006 - Nick Lachey went on the record about girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo. "She's a great friend, I'll leave it at that," he tells 'Extra'. "That's the one thing I learned, that's a part of my life I'm going to keep private from now on, and we'll leave it up to everyone's imagination." The former 98 Degrees star also insisted he remains a fan of ex-wife Jessica Simpson. "I'm a huge fan of hers, I always have been," he said. August 7, 2006 - 'The View' executive producer Bill Geddie also confirmed to 'Access Hollywood' that Jessica Simpson would be the show's first guest in the new season featuring Rosie O'Donnell on the couch. "It appears that Jessica (Simpson) has agreed to be our first guest for the first day that Rosie's on 'The View,' which is very exciting for us," he said. Read more.

August 7, 2006 - OK! magazine's recent photo shoot with Jessica Simpson was to include the singer/actress lying on a bed in her underwear while a male model buttoned his shirt on the bed behind her, but while Jessica's father Joe had no problem with the pose, her mother Tina was having none of it.  Time out. Hold it," Tina shouted at the photographer, according to a source. "Nope, this isn't going to work." The source added, "Tina dug in her heels and said there was no way she'd allow Jess to appear in the layout, the way it was designed. She said the pose was too risque and made Jessica look cheap. Joe was perplexed." Joe then reportedly argued with Tina, who fired back at the former Baptist preacher: "Trust me, I'm her mother. This isn't the image we want."
