You hear what happened her? I guess, now, for the second time, Jessica Simpson forgot the lyrics to '9 to 5'. She was singing at the Kennedy Center Honors, and she forgot the lyrics twice. So she asked the song be pulled from the Kennedy Honors program. That's a switch, huh? A blonde pulling out of a a Kennedy. You never hear about that."

December 30, 2006 - Unhappy with her second try at paying tribute to Dolly Parton by performing '9 To 5' for the Kennedy Center Honors, Jessica Simpson has pulled out of the December 26th broadcast of the show on CBS. "I'm getting married again, Jess and I wanted you to hear it from me," Lachey told Simpson. December 23, 2006 - A source tells The New York Daily News Jessica Simpson flubbing her lines to the Dolly Parton classic '9 To 5' wasn't the first time the singer had troubles remembering lyrics. "You should have see her when she was doing the TV shows, promoting her last album ['A Public Affair']," a TV insider said. "When she was doing the 'Today' show and all those [others], she needed a TelePrompTer under the camera, even for the songs she supposedly co-wrote. She didn't know the words to any of them." The singer's rep responded, "It's not uncommon for singers to have the words when performing on television shows. It's common practice with most artists."

December 23, 2006 - Dolly Parton issued a statement to 'Inside Edition' on Thursday (December 7) in reaction to Jessica Simpson flubbing the lines to the country legend's song '9 to 5' during the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday. "Jessica is so talented that I'm sure that someday they will be paying tribute to her and I would be honored to perform for her," Parton said. "Jessica's been having a rough time lately," the source explained. "Her album ['A Public Affair'] didn't do well, and her movie was a flop. December 23, 2006 - Life & Style reports Jessica Simpson has been avoiding food while shooting 'Blonde Ambition' on Shreveport, Louisiana. Dining at a local Chili's on November 27th, the singer/actress ordered the Caribbean Chicken Salad, "but she only ate the chicken in it," an onlooker told the tab. "She left everything else." Then on December 1st, Simpson and co-star Luke Wilson were offered homemade gumbo provided by the set caterer. "This is the best thing ever," Luke rave, while Jess skipped the meal. December 9, 2006 - Anonymous writes "Within the past week, Jessica Simpson's fourth studio album 'A Public Affair' was certified gold by the RIAA for shipping 500,000 copies in the US. Though, in reality, it has really sold a mere 245, 000 in the US after less than three months of charting on the Billboard 200. Upon release, the album struggled to meet expectations and quickly descended down the charts, already exiting most of them. The studio is hoping the release of the new single 'Fired Up' will boost sales - a song declared by record executive Scott Storch as Jessica Simpson's 'Dirrty'. In addition, 'A Public Affair' has been certified Gold in Canada. So far, sales for the album (according to Wikipedia) are just under 600,000 worldwide - nearly a tenth of what Jessica's last studio album had sold and on par with her recent Christmas album. 'A Public Affair' is set for release in the UK sometime in January."

December 9, 2006 - Insiders tell The New York Post Jessica Simpson could have been the face of Miu Miu instead of Lindsay Lohan, if it hadn't been for her demand that her hairdresser, Ken Paves, was used for the photoshoot. "Most fashion photographers use their own people - and they certainly don't use Ken Paves, who is considered tacky and amateurish for high-fashion shoots," a source sneered. December 9, 2006 - Jessica Simpson spoke with Empire magazine about her first lead role in a film, starring in loose remake of the 1988 Melanie Griffith classic 'Working Girl' entitled 'Blonde Ambition'. "It's definitely the theme of 'Working Girl'," Simpson said. "This small town girl moving to New York City and rising up into this great career as a businesswoman pretty much. But it's definitely not a remake." The singer added, "This will be my first leading role and I think I'm ready for it. The other two movies that I've done ('Employee Of The Month' and 'The Dukes Of Hazzard') I feel like I've got a load of press out of 'em, but I've really only had about 12 lines. I've never had the leading role and with this one it's really going to be nice to just dive in and kinda wrap my arms around it." 

December 9, 2006 - John Mayer's rep laughed off the gossip making the rounds that her client would be joining Jessica Simpson for Thanksgiving in Texas after the pair were reportedly spotted together at LAX Airport. "A press release was issued several weeks ago stating that after his appearance on the American Music Awards on Tuesday, November 21, John would be flying to New York for his third consecutive Thanksgiving performance on The Late Show with David Letterman," the rep confirmed to Us Weekly. "This has become one of Mayer's favorite new holiday traditions. He has been on the phone with Paul [Shaffer], collaborating on the arrangement since he was in Japan several weeks ago on tour and will be performing a song from his platinum-selling album 'Continuum' that he has not performed on any other TV appearance to date. Mayer will then spend Thanksgiving with his family in Connecticut following the appearance."
