July 31, 2000 - MTV Asia reports that Jessica Simpson was branded a lesbian by her high school classmates because a girl was jealous of the fact a guy she liked had the hots for Jess instead. She said of the experience, "During games, the cheerleaders on my squad would go over to the other team's cheerleaders on my quad would go over to the other team's cheerleaders and tell them, and the people in the stands would even be chanting it out to me: 'Les-bian, Les-bian.' At first I didn't even know what they meant. I quit cheerleading and I quit school for three weeks."

July 27, 2000 - E! Online's Ted Casablanca reports Nick and Jessica were seen holding hands while they walked around the Century City Shopping Center in LA, where they reportedly went to see The Patriot.

July 24, 2000 - Star magazine this week has a picture of Jessica tasting her 20th birthday cake at a party in Santa Monica.

July 22, 2000 - Jessica Simpson somewhat disses Britney Spears in an interview with Kiddkiss.com. She also talks about how she bombed on MMC and talks about MP3s and Napster. To hear it, click here.

July 15, 2000 - A couple autographed pictures of Jessica is up for auction at eBay. The 8x10 picture (item #379358746) has a current bid of $35.00 and ends July 17th. The other picture in the hat (item 382558585) is bid at $29.99 and ends July 21st.

July 11, 2000 - Jessica Simpson is on the wires making eyebrow raising comments against Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera. Of Carey, she says she's disappointed of her labeling Simpson as Minnie Me, saying "It looks as if she's definitely trying to be younger or prove something. It's sad, but if this is everything she ever dreamt about doing, then go for it." And of Aguilera "It's not about the fame for me. For Christina it is. She loves the fame and the screams." She also reveals that she turned down a roll in Coyote Ugly because while they agreed to take out a sex scene, when she arrived it was still in the script. She said "I was like, 'Do you guys not get it?' They were offering me tons of money and I threw the script in their faces and walked out."

July 10, 2000 - Jessica Simpson turned 20 today, and to celebrate the occassion, fans voted her latest single #10 on TRL.

July 8, 2000 - Jessica Simpson's Sweet Kisses album is now officially platinum, reports Rolling Stone.

July 1, 2000 - Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees have signed on to perform at the fifth annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on Saturday, Aug. 26 at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. Commenting on the show, Jessica said "I'm really looking forward to performing and being a part of it."
