reports that Josh Hartnett has turned down a chance to play the role of
Superman in the long awaited revival of the film series. Remaining candidates
reportedly include Brendan Fraser, Paul Walker and American soap star Matthew
Bomer.

18, 2003 - Though Josh Hartnett still has strong reservations about the
long commitment required to star in the revived "Superman" franchise, the
popular actor has emerged as the front-runner, at least as far as Brett
Ratner is concerned. According to Daily Variety, the director, plus other
top Warner Bros. honchos, are not going to consider any other actors until
Hartnett makes his decision.

reports that while Josh Hartnett is tight with his money, when he overheard
a waitress at Jan's in LA complaining that she'd lost her health insurance
and was overdue on her rent, he ran outside to a cash machine and left
the mother a $250 tip on a $30 tab.

Rainwater and Stephanie Alba shared their story of nearly fainting when
they met Josh Hartnett in their hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. "Josh
is so hot," says Skylar. "He was generous enough to take a picture with
us and even complimented me on my name. We got autographs from Alec Baldwin
and Ben Affleck that day, but getting this photo with Josh was every teenage
girl's dream come true."

be signing on to do a trilogy. "No star wants to sign that," Ratner tells
Variety, "but as much as I've told Jude and Josh my vision for the movie,
I've warned them of the consequences of being Superman. They'll live this
character for 10 years."

reports frugal Josh Hartnett likes to fly coach, but a recent packed flight
from LA to Chicago had him squirming. A flight attendant told him, "A man
in first class has daughters who loved you in Pearl Harbor. If you give
him autographs, he'll switch seats with you." Josh signed the autograph,
but wouldn't accept his seat.

reports Josh Hartnett has been getting more lean and mean by taking yoga
classes at trendy Maha Yoga in Brentwood. Josh never thought he'd like
the slow music often played during instruction, but classes at this cool,
hip studio use funky stuff with a faster beat, and now he's hooked.
