October 31, 2001 - ILuvJuJuNCheer from our message boards met and talked to *NSYNC's Joey Fatone at the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas last weekend and again hours later at Elements restaurant upstairs from the event. She explained, "Joey was super nice and was asking how our dinner was and being soo nice!"

October 31, 2001 - On the heels of many R&B radio stations playing Britney Spears' new single 'Slave 4 U', urban gossip column Jawn's Juice column this week includes the following random thought: "Why are two of the hottest songs at radio from two of pops biggest acts. Aren't N'Sync's 'Gone' and Britney Spears’ 'Slave' so hot?"

October 31, 2001 - Worldpop reports *NSYNC have postponed a tour of the UK now which they hope will begin in April 2002. Lance says the band plans on stripping down the flashy shows that were part of the US tour instead being "more intimate, like unplugged in style."

October 31, 2001 - Earlier this month (October 15) Lance Bass called into the Rick Dees show to promote On The Line. Lance not only talked about the movie, but revealed that for the past two weeks, he's been in a relationship before being single the two years prior. Lance mentioned the September 11 tragedy saying he was glued to the television the entire day. Lance said regarding the charity shows, "We're in the position where we can help and we're very lucky that we have a big voice right now." Listen to the full interview here.

October 31, 2001 - Pam Sitt of the Seattle Times spoke with *NSYNC's Lance Bass about 'On the Line' mostly and when asked what the rest of the group thought of the movie, Bass said, "They loved it. We're the biggest critics in the world. We go to theaters and heckle everyone. ... But everyone was pleasantly surprised. They were like, 'Wow, it's a real movie.'" Read more.

October 30, 2001 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports *NSYNC's Lance and Joey were spotted at Mandalay Bay's VIP room Saturday night along with Drew Carey and others, while Bass and Emmanuelle Chriqui were spotted the same night at the Scintas show Saturday at the Rio. Read more.

October 30, 2001 - MTV's John Norris reported on TRL Monday that 'On The Line' didn't do as bad as the numbers might indicate since it was shown in so few theaters. If you calculate revenue per venue, it actually would have been in the top 5 films for the week.

October 29, 2001 - Putting out Mariah Carey 'Glitter' like numbers in its opening week despite much more promotion, the Lance Bass and Joey Fatone starring 'On The Line' only pulled in a pathetic $2.3 million in its opening weekend at the box office, putting it at the number 11 position. A Miramax spokesman declined comment other than to predict the film would be popular as a home video. Tops for the week was the new Kevin Spacey film 'K-Pax' with $17.5 million in sales.

October 29, 2001 - The Las Vegas Review Journal reports *NSYNC's Lance Bass was spotted in Las Vegas playing $100 black chips at the craps tables at the Rio 4 a.m. on Saturday morning. Lance reportedly was staying at a 7,000-square-foot high-roller suite at the casino. 

October 28, 2001 - US Weekly reports Britney Spears was spotted bumming 5 dollars from one of her three bodyguards after she and *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake finished dining at P.F. Chang's in Los Angeles.

October 28, 2001 - WireImage.com has a few hundred photos of pop acts and other musicians at last night's Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas. October 27, 2001 - Gemma Tarlach of the Journal Sentinel reviewed the Lance Bass / Joey Fatone starring 'On The Line' and said the film "turns out to be a flawed and formulaic but watchable little fable about the pursuit of true love." As for Lance, Tarlach says of the *NSYNC star turned actor, "Bass is a likable enough lad, but has the expressive range of a Ken doll and lacks the presence to shoulder the romantic lead role." October 27, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports *NSYNC's Joey Fatone and the Backstreet Boys' Kevin Richardson took part in a dance duel at New York's China Club. The females looking on couldn't agree who was best at busting a move.

October 27, 2001 - Michael Jackson put out a press release today announcing the lineup on his charity single, 'What More Can I Give' after *NSYNC completed their part in the song. On the lineup are as follows: NSYNC, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, Celine Dion, Tom Petty, Beyonce Knowles of Destiny's Child, Usher, Julio Iglesias, Reba McEntire, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter, Luther Vandross, Shakira, Brian McKnight, Gloria Estefan, Mya, Aaron Carter, Hanson, Laura Palcini, John Secada, Billy Gilman, Ruben Blades, Anaida, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, Alejandro Sandz, Christian Castro, Olga Tanon, Anastascia, Joy Enriquez, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, Thalia, Ziggy Marley, and 3LW. The artists recorded both English and Spanish versions of the song.

October 26, 2001 - Barry Koltnow of the Orange County Register talked to *NSYNC's Lance Bass about his surprise over a fan paying $1,000 for a half eaten piece of French toast, Eminem, and Backstreet Boys. As for the toast, Lance says, "I can't make sense of it. I asked Troy Aikman for an autograph when I was 12, but I've never been in those shoes. I've never been a fanatic. I think there must be something deep inside them that makes them do it. It's not really them; there's this feeling inside that they have to get out." Read more.

October 26, 2001 - In perhaps the most blistering movie review ever given, the Cleveland Free Times Milan Paurich ripped the Lance Bass, Joey Fatone starring 'On The Line'. Paurich questioned the film's premise saying, "It’s tough even imagining them with genitalia." As for Lance's performance, "He’s got zero screen presence and no discernible acting chops." October 26, 2001 - The Associated Press talked to Ballantine's vice president and director of publicity, Kim Hovey, who denied earlier reports that the disappointing sales of the Britney and Lynne Spears book A Mother's Gift was a factor in pulling out of the Justin Timberlake book deal. October 25, 2001 - The Inquirer's Steven Rea talked to *NSYNC's Lance Bass at the premiere of 'On The Line' and he addressed potential reaction from critics saying, "Of course the critics are going to be there. You know, 'musicians can't act' and that kind of stuff, but we did it for ourselves and we did it for our fans, and I think it's a great movie, a good-quality movie." Read more.

October 25, 2001 - Christina Aguilera will host the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas on Friday at the Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas (though no mention of her on ABC's official RMA site has some wondering about a last minute cancellation). Among the guests at the show will be Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson, *NSYNC's Lance Bass & Joey Fatone, Christina Milan, Nelly Furtado, and Elton John, who will receive this year's Legend Award. Christina said of the opportunity to host, "It is kind of a different thing for me because I'm speaking my way through it. I'm not performing. October 24, 2001 - Katrillion talked to *NSYNC's Lance Bass about the much hyped kissing scene he had with co-star Emmanuelle Chriqui in 'On The Line'. Bass says, "I'll admit it, we were going for MTV's (Movie Award for) Best Kiss," adding "It was cool, but strange as there are 1,000 people cheering and screaming at you while you are doing it ... It feels unnatural because they (the movie crew) are telling you to move your neck every which way."

October 24, 2001 - The New York Daily News reports the seven figure deal *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake scored with Ballantine Books has been nixed by the publisher as they were spooked by poor sales of Britney Spears' booke written with her mother entitled, "A Mother's Gift." Timberlake had been signed on to write "Inside Drive: A Novel of Basketball, Life and Love." As of yet, it's unknown if Justin will seek another publisher to publish the novel.

October 24, 2001 - When Ricki Lake put out the word that it was giving away a chance to hang with *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone, the response was overwhelming. October 23, 2001 - Peoplenews reports Britney Spears and *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake attended a stripshow at the Granville nightclub in Los Angeles with a dozen bodyguards in tow. Witnesses say Spears was wearing a cowboy hat with a bare midriff top and watched open-mouthed at some of the dancer's gyrations. Afterwards, Britney reportedly took in what she saw to give Justin his own strip show.

October 23, 2001 - The Boston Herald talked to *NSYNC's Lance Bass about why there's no *NSYNC movie coming out as he admits, We went to Cannes to get people's minds going so a good script would come to our table, but there weren't any! We don't want to play 'N Sync at all and be hired by the government to be spies and go in and get something from Cuba. They were so bad.'' Read more.

October 23, 2001 - In a quote basically contrary to what he was quoted saying last week, *NSYNC's Lance Bass told Entertainment Weekly, "'N Sync can't last forever. Hopefully, we've got another good 10 years ahead of us." Because of this, Lance is keen on acting saying, "I just think with the acting, there's not a time limit on it. That's why I want to get into this -- I love to entertain, and this lives forever." Read more.

October 23, 2001 - Katrillion has details on the secret scene at the closing credits of On The Line which will feature Justin Timberlake and Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, but not JC. Chris said, "JC was in Toronto and he was going to be a bartender in the film," Lance explained. "But his scene got cut and we didn't have time to shoot it. He was on the set but he wasn't in it." October 23, 2001 - AP reports the "United We Stand: What More Can I Give?" raised about $2 million off of ticket sales for a crowd of 46,000. Read more.

October 23, 2001 - The Sun reports tight security at the United We Stand concert at RFK Stadium was so tight that even *NSYNC was frisked on the way into the gig.

October 21, 2001 - We've gotten word of the lineup for Sunday's United We Stand: What More Can I Give? Concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. October 20, 2001 - Jay Leno again joked about Britney's flu saying in his Friday night monologue, "Finally, Britney Spears has had to postpone the start of her U.S. Tour for five days because she had a small case of the flu. [ Audience aws ] Well, the doctors told Britney to get plenty of rest, lie in bed and do nothing. And today her boyfriend Justin said, 'Hey, she's a virgin. She does that every night.'"

October 20, 2001 - Lance Bass will be on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart Monday October 22 on Comedy Central.

October 20, 2001 - The New York Post talked to Lance Bass' nightclub partner Eytan Sugarman as the pair set to open  4,000-square-foot restaurant/lounge in the West Village next month. Eytan says, "Lance likes to party and likes to have a good time, and he's in New York a lot. It's just something the both of us really wanted to do. We're really confident about our product and we want to give it a shot."

October 20, 2001 - Howard didn't say what day he'll be on next week or if it would be in studio or via telephone, but he did say Joey would be interviewed... Should be an eye-opening look at the band since Stern won't pull any punches. 

October 20, 2001 - Vogue UK reports *NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick addressed his decision to postpone the fashion show for FuMan Skeeto that was held earlier this week saying to reporters at the show, "You know, we didn't want to push anybody. I think a lot of things were kind of set back because of that. You know, I think now is about the time where people are ready to get back out and start living their lives again, and start trying to… I don't want to say forget about the past, but definitely move on - move on from everything that's happened."

October 19, 2001 - The Star reports Joey Fatone was spotted going up to his hotel room with 32-year old Rachel Hunter's at the Mondrian Hotel in Hollywood on October 3rd. Arriving at 3 a.m., Rachel left the room two hours later beet-red in the face. The two went at it again the next day according to witnesses. Read more.

October 19, 2001 - Lance Bass was recently quoted on his opinion of *NSYNC's longevity saying, "We'll be in 'N Sync forever. We're very close, and there are no signs of us slowing down. The Bee Gees, Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi are still going. Why not us? But there will definitely be less dancing." 

October 19, 2001 - Worldpop reports Lance Bass' 'On the Line' co-star Emmanuelle Chriqui is giving her thoughts on the on-screen kiss with the *NSYNC star. Chriqui admits, "I've had to tell all my friends dozens of times, Lance's lips are soft and wonderful just like he is. Lance is so young and he has such enormous fame, yet he is real, quietly ambitious, inspiring and down-to-earth."

October 19, 2001 - Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun Times talked to Lance Bass Wednesday as the *NSYNC and now movie star was at the W Hotel in Chicago to promote the Chicago based 'On the Line.' Lance said he's now got the acting bug admitting, "At the beginning of this project I knew I was really going to be into producing films, but I didn't realize how much I loved doing the acting--being on the set. Now I'm so excited. I can't wait to do the next one." Read more.

October 19, 2001 - Jay Leno joked in his monologue Wednesday, "NSYNC will be in Washington this week at RFK stadium. In fact, they're a five-point favorite over the Redskins. So you might want to go with NSYNC."

October 19, 2001 - Launch.com talked to *NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick about the group's show at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. on Sunday where he revealed they will tone down their usual glitzy show, "I mean, we're still going to have the great performance that we always do, but we're going to take a lot of the flash away because it doesn't make any sense for us to spend any extra money that we don't have to spend without the bare essentials, so that all the money that gets earned goes to the right places, and to the right foundations." 

October 19, 2001 - Justin Timberlake is pictured on the inside cover of this week's Star magazine swimming with a dolphin in Orlando at Discovery Cove.

October 18, 2001 - The Chicago Sun Times' Bill Zwecker reports Joey Fatone's fascination with Superman has him psyched to work with a megastar cast to play the role of the superhero. Fatone revealed, ''I really want to produce the Nicolas Cage film about Superman and have been trying to reach him.'' He likely will join Lance tonight at the hip White Star Lounge to promote the film On The Line as well as the Chicago area launch of the Loup, the teen-only phone network. Read more.

October 18, 2001 - eZuma.com has 9 photos of Chris Kirkpatrick launching his FuMan Skeeto women's clothing winter collection @ Planet Hollywood Times Square. October 18, 2001 - Lance Bass told Entertainment Tonight he's willing to leave his *NSYNC bandmates and help the military in the war on terrorism if called upon. Bass revealed, "I'll be the first one to go. I would definitely serve my country."

October 17, 2001 - Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief of Pollstar talked about the trouble music acts have had selling out shows this year, even *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys as the two acts "performers lack the body of work to sustain annual treks for cash-strapped younger fans." Said Bongiovanni, "Obviously, we saw Madonna had no problem selling $250 tickets and U2 had no problem selling those $130 tickets. Really hot acts can get away with it. But all other acts without pent-up demand, people who have seen them in years past feel they can skip them this time around/ Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync are experiencing some of that. They've toured repeatedly and came back this year with tickets that were 10 percent higher." Read more.

October 16, 2001 - The New York Post is reporting that *NSYNC's J.C. Chasez was spotted canoodling with his "On the Line" co-star Emmanuelle Chriqui at Palm West. The only problem with this story is that J.C. isn't in the film, only Lance and Joey from the group are. 

October 16, 2001 - Entertainment Weekly talked to On The Line producer Rich Hull who admits Oscar winning Tom Hanks was helped out in developing the film. Hull said, "Tom is a big 'N Sync fan. The last time Lance and Joey were in town I think they had dinner at Tom and Rita's."

October 16, 2001 - Overture.com has their top searches for *NSYNC's Joshua 'JC' Chasez for the month of September posted. The term 'JC Chasez' had 8,648 searches [JCChasez one word search combined], which compares to 30,000 for Justin Timberlake and around 13,000 searches for Lance Bass, though if you combined 'JC' the number is much closer to Lance. October 16, 2001 - World Online reports Britney Spears sounding off on *NSYNC's new video for 'Gone' which features Justin Timberlake singing seductively to a beautiful girl. Spears says, "I personally don't like it, seeing him do things like that. I prefer not to watch. He doesn't like seeing me do it either but it's part of what we do. Artistically it brings the video to life." Read more.

October 16, 2001 - Dido held a press conference in New Zealand Monday where she'd performed the night before in Auckland. Dido was asked what was the best and worst rumors about her and she responded, "The best was that I used to be a porn star. It was fantastic, and sadly not true. The worst one is that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are coming to my wedding."

October 15, 2001 - US Weekly reports Lance Bass has admitted to being injured after he and Joey Fatone went to a bullfight with some female friends in Cancun Mexico. Bass admits after somehow being urged into the ring and becoming a target for a bull, "The horns never went in me, but he did bruise a few ribs." Now Lance has a new insurer but says, "For a year, I can't fight a bull."

October 14, 2001 - Will Sasso parodied Lance Bass last night on MAD TV. Playing a perma-grinned, doe-eyed Bass, it wasn't a 'nice' impersonation.

October 13, 2001 - Lance Bass was on with Conan O'Brien last night where after being prodded by Conan to talk bad about *NSYNC's rival, the Backstreet Boys, and how having 'Boys' in their name now looks bad for the group admitted, "When we were coming with the name, I swear to you that is exactly what we said." adding, "We had to have a name, so when we're like, you know, 40 or something, we don't come out as..."

October 12, 2001 - E! Online's Ted Cassablanca reports *NSYNC's Lance Bass was spotted at Standard Lounge with a date by his side, though they didn't stay long as Lance had to go to a press junket the next morning at 9 a.m.

October 11, 2001 - Overture.com has its top Lance Bass related search queries for the month of September posted, and 'Lance Bass' [the one word 'Lancebass' was also combined in the results] with 12,719 searches. This compares with just over 30,000 searches for Justin Timberlake. Lance's actual first name James was searched much less in the queries, as was his full middle name 'Lansten.' October 11, 2001 - Several pop related stories in today's Fox411 with Roger Friedman today. Topping the list is plans for a What More Can I Give?" charity single that appears to be headed to McDonalds, who will sell the single for $2.99 while pledging $30 million to the relief effort for World Trade Center victims and families. Interestingly, Lance Bass said that while Britney Spears will participate, as far as the rest of *NSYNC, he said, "I don't think so. I think Michael was only interested in having Justin to do it with him." Friedman also advises On the Line moviegoers to stay during the closing credits as there will be a surprise for *NSYNC fans "actually funnier than the movie itself." Read more.

October 11, 2001 - PipKC writes "I bought the Nov. 2001 Cosmopolitan Magazine today and the girl on the cover is holding a magazine with Justin Timberlake on the cover. October 11, 2001 - It appears thievery can get you fame as Sal Martinez, one of the men caught stealing Britney Spears' camcorder, videotape, booze, and cellphone is admitting to the Star after watching the video, "We were bummed out, I won't lie to you." Why, because it wasn't a Tommy Lee/Pam Anderson style sex tape, just video of them pointing at the house they're renting and having dinner with their families. ZZzzzz....

October 10, 2001 - Worldpop reports Britney Spears is continuing her gushy talk about her boyfriend and *NSYNC star Justin Timberlake, no doubt giving her haters more fuel for criticism. Britney admitted in a recent interview how she envisioned her wedding saying, "I guess I would like an outdoor wedding. Something on the beach, really beautiful, barefoot, y'know. The party, set to take place on October 17 at the windy city's hip White Star Lounge, will mark the official introduction of The Loup's teen phone network in Chicago while also showcasing the upcoming Miramax release "On the Line," starring both Lance and Joey. October 9, 2001 - The Chicago Sun Times' Cindy Pearlman reports Lance Bass is still hopeful of a Grease III that would feature the members of *NSYNC and Britney Spears as the female lead. Said Lance Bass of the project still in 'development hell', "Hollywood isn't ready to let us attack it just yet. It will definitely come back up at one point. All of us in the band would have a cool part with J.C. [Chasez] having the lead. I hope it happens soon." 

October 9, 2001 - Lance Bass will be on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on Thursday. Conan's other guest will be SNL's Chris Kattan. Joey Fatone will be on the Late Show with Craig Kilborn on Friday. Craig's other guests are Laura Harring and musical guest, Nickelback. Both guys are on with Rosie O'Donnell today, with Nelly Furtado as musical guest.

October 9, 2001 - The Miami Herald reports *NSYNC will be part of a huge benefit performance to help local businesses near Miami Beach on November 11. Marlo Courtney, of the Ocean Drive Association, one of the organizers of the event said, "It's going to be the Super Bowl of Ocean Drive. The most highly publicized and recognized concert and weekend in the history of South Florida." October 7, 2001 - Overture.com (formerly Goto.com) has it's top *NSYNC related search queries for the month of August posted, and the band has proven itself the leader of boybands in terms of searches by getting 230,717 searches, compared to 143,905 for arch rivals Backstreet Boys.
