February 28, 2002 - Roger Friedman of Fox News was at Clive Davis' Pre Grammy bash last night at the Beverly Hills Hotel where *NSYNC, the Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears held court. Only one in the bunch agreed to partcipate in an on-stage performance, Justin Timberlake. The singer joined Destiny’s Child, Patti Labelle, Angie Stone, Mary Mary, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder to perform several of Stevie's hits. Friedman said of Timberlake's performance: "But guess what? For better or worse, Justin can sing. He even seems to be plotting a future for himself as a solo act, and has a nice, fun presence on stage. Who knew?" Read more.

February 27, 2002 - WireImage.com has photos of everybody who was anybody that attended the Clive Davis Pre Grammy Party in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday. February 27, 2002 - Shelby Loosch of the Globe reports *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake has been seeing a hypnotist to help cure his insomnia. The singer has such a busy schedule that he's finding it hard to sleep at night. After a few trance sessions, his problems may now be cured.

February 26, 2002 - Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes got to meet her favorite group *NSYNC and Access Hollywood was there when she was with Justin Timberlake. When asked if Sarah had any skating tips of him, Timberlake said, "Don't skate next to her. She said, 'don't skate next to me.'" As for Hughes, she admitted to being a huge *NSYNC fan and said, "Yeah, I got to see them warm up some of their dancers and do soundtracks." Before Justin went into a wacky dance, Sarah said of his dancing ability, "He is awesome. May be I can get a few moves you know." She later gushed to Bob Costas on NBC over the weekend about meeting Timberlake, "He is awesome and I can't wait to tell my friends about it."

February 26, 2002 - Entertainment Tonight spoke with Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes on Monday's show where she unveiled her new Wheaties cover. Hughes said "I always listen to *NSYNC and Britney Spears before I skate, and Janet Jackson, and they all get me going." The 16 year old adds, "I know all *NSYNC's songs."

February 26, 2002 - During the Gorillaz chat with reporters at tour this weekends press conference in Toronto, Nakamura expressed his desire to have *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake join the animated group. Nakamura said, "We're trying to knock those *NSYNC guys right off the charts because once that happens I think Justin can join our band. We want to destroy *NSync so Justin has no choice but to come and join Gorillaz." As for the current state of pop music, bandmate Hewitt adds, "We're bigger than all of them and they hate us. They'll all end up as sad washed up crackheads. Except for Justin Timberlake, he has a career anytime he wants it with us."

February 26, 2002 - 'VIRGIN' BRITNEY CAUGHT IN BED WITH LOVER! That's how Star magazine headlines the story in this week's issue... The tab says Britney's mother Lynne is furious over her daughter's trial marriage with *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake. They quote Lynne saying, "What they're doing is a sin!" As for the "earth-shattering effect this is having on their once close mother/daughter relationship," you'll have to check out this week's Star.

February 25, 2002 - The Biloxi Sun Herald spoke with Mississippi Economic Council President Blake Wilson on news that their hometown boy Lance Bass of *NSYNC may be flying into space later this year. Wilson said, "I think it's great. It helps put Mississippi on the map. Now, what we need to do is get him a good plate of crawfish étouffee from Mary Mahoney's and hot sauce from Tommy Monroe and let the Russians know about the Mississippi Coast." Read more.

February 25, 2002 - The Los Angeles Times examined the current funk in the music industry right now and got the thoughts of Tom Calderone, MTV senior vice president for music. Calderone explains, "There's nervousness right now because we haven't seen a new crop of stars like we've been having over the last couple of years. Whether it was Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit) or Kid Rock or Britney Spears or *NSYNC, we had wall-to-wall stars for a while... February 25, 2002 -  Rolling Stone spoke with *NSYNC about their upcoming tour that kicks off this Sunday in Portland, Oregon. JC Chasez revealed, "This show is strictly based around the band and us. There are no dancers. There are no extra people involved. It is just a band and us. And it is a very raw show. And there is something special in every song, because we have actually gone out of our way to do different things to the music to change it up." Read more.

February 24, 2002 - Ok, maybe 99.9% of the rioters at the Salt Lake City Olympics Saturday night were not at the *NSYNC show, but it is worth noting following their performance a crowd of 2,000 people went on a drunken rampage shortly after midnight. Rubber bullets were fired as about 50 riot police struggled to control a rampage. Read more.

February 24, 2002 - MTV spoke with the guys from *NSYNC ahead of their Celebrity 2002 tour which kicks off March 3 in Portland, Oregon. Justin Timberlake said, "This tour will be completely different. [Fans] can expect the unexpected. We're gonna have a chance to sit down and talk to them a little bit more, and they'll definitely feel like they left with a piece of us." February 23, 2002 - Christopher Reynolds of the Los Angeles Times talked with a spokeswoman for Don Mischer, the executive producer of the Olympic ceremonies, who revealed the closing ceremonies will rely on recordings to bolster performances by *NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, and others. The spokeswoman revealed, "There are some people who are electing to do things live, but I haven't heard yet if we're going to let them. The weather will obviously play a role." Read more.

February 23, 2002 - Cynthia Fuchs of Poppolitics.com took a look at *NSYNC's centerpiece, Justin Timberlake, and the larger issue of the feminization of popular culture. Fuchs writes of Timberlake, "However hip or beautiful or seductive *NSYNC gets, Justin continues to stand out. In the face of Chris's changing hair color and clothing line, Lance's budding movie career, and JC's side project for the 'Grinch' soundtrack, Justin can't seem to help but steal the spotlight. February 23, 2002 -  Carson Daly told fans watching Total Request Live on Friday that he had spoken with *NSYNC's Lance Bass about his quest to fly into space aboard a Russian rocket. Carson said, "Real quick, I did speak with Lance from *NSYNC yesterday. 'Like dude are you going to space or what?'. We reported two days ago it was sort of a done deal then MTV News came in and they -- at least painted the picture yesterday they -- it might not be happening and it is very, in Lance's words, I'll make this quick, it is a very big deal to go to space, a lot of security issues around it and getting there and who is doin' what and this and that. He said this is a big dream of his, he's taking it very seriously despite some of the jokes you might have read but as soon as he can he will call into the show and set the record straight for everybody. But he's very excited taking it seriously and looks like things are a go."

February 23, 2002 - Kelsey Grammer of the NBC hit 'Frasier' joined Carson Daly on Total Request Live on Friday to give thoughts as his advice giving character on Britney Spears and *NSYNC. Of Spears, he said, "Yes, Britney Spears... Like a virgin? Like I'm stupid! Appealing to young men, her shapely hips and flowing hair. Insuring Miss Spears a long and fruitful career... And may I borrow this tape for further examination?" As for *NSYNC, he cracked, "Ah, yes *NSYNC. Ohh, all you uniquely different, but uniformly bland, making each appealing to their section of the population, but ensuring they will be home before 9:00 [PM]. More personalities than Mike Tyson, but the young studs don't bite, they croon, swagger and cash huge checks."

February 23, 2002 - Zap2it.com reports a source at Lance Bass' production company, A Happy Place, says that as far as anyone there knew, the deal to send *NSYNC's Lance Bass into space later this year was sealed. "As far as I know it's a confirmation that he's definitely going," said the source. "Our boss is going to space." Read more

February 22, 2002 - Sir Elton John told BBC Two's Newsnight there was too much music that sounds the same in the pop charts now. Elton said, "Record companies want the quick buck from the Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Britney Spears, S Club 7's, the Steps - they've always been around, I'm not knocking the music perhaps, but it's like packets of cereal." February 22, 2002 - *NSYNC's Lance Bass will not fly in space, according to Rosaviakosmos spokesman Sergei Gorbunov. Gorbunov said, "Mircorp has no right to sell these flights. They have no link to Rosaviakosmos, we have no contract linking us." As for the motivation for the announcement, Gorbunov fumed, "It is just an advertising stunt, I can promise you. This is better advertising than he could ever pay for." There will be a civilian on the Soyuz flight, a Polish businessman named Leszek Czarnecki. Read more

February 22, 2002 - Anonymous writes "I'm a student at NYU, and work part-time at the Nederlander Theater in New York City, where Rent is playing. Our Roger is taking the summer off, and there's been lots of discussions as to who'd take his place. I spoke with the stage manager, Rick, and he said the producers have decided on JC Chasez from *NSYNC. He'll be in the roll for June, July and August at least. Rick said the producer's have wanted him for a long time, but now it seems their schedule will allow it. I've heard this guy... he's a wonderful singer."

February 22, 2002 - Launch.com spoke with *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone ahead of the band's performances at the Winter Olympics on Sunday as well as the Grammy Awards next Wednesday. Joey admitted of the schedule, "It has been crazy the past couple of days. We've been rehearsing for the Olympics, which is a different show all together, then rehearsing for the Grammy's, and then we go out on tour." Read more.

February 21, 2002 - MTV News reports *NSYNC's Lance Bass has commented on the big news of the day, that he'll be planning a trip to space in November on board a Russian Soyuz rocket. Bass said, "I am completely overwhelmed at this invitation. I'm looking forward to completing this lifelong dream." Those thinking Bass shelled out the reported $20 million for the opportunity... no way. A Los Angeles production company is putting together a television special about the journey and Bass' half year preparation ahead of it.

February 21, 2002 - spaceref.com has an article about Lance Bass of *NSYNC buying a trip to space for $20 million. He has to go to Russia because they are the ones who are selling the trips. He will be the youngest to ever go to space. It will be announced 2-20 on the anniversary of John Glenn's first flight. Note: $20 Million is the rumored cost for this type of flight. No contracts have been signed and no money has been exchanged. Nor have the Russian Aviation and Space Agency or NASA been approached for approval.

February 20, 2002 - One of the early rumors floating about after Carson Daly's 'out of this world' announcement on MTV's Total Request Live Tuesday regarding *NSYNC's Lance Bass is that he is going to be living in Russia for 7 months straight to prepare for a mission to the moon! Bass has passed the NASA entrance exam awhile back and perhaps this news combined with Justin Timberlake's rumored move at making a solo album are what is driving talk from Joey Fatone earlier today of an extended break for the group. February 20, 2002 - CDNow reports *NSYNC's JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick had a press conference Tuesday morning where they addressed what they plan on for a new album. Chris revealed, "We're pretty focused on the tour right now, but I think once the tour gets underway we might start brainstorming. February 20, 2002 - Entertainment Tonight reports that during an interview with KZLA in Hollywood the ex-wrestler known as Chyna, Joannie Laurer responded when asked about being linked to *NSYNC's Joey Fatone was true or not, "That's true." When asked for details, Laurer said, "Nothing. Really, I mean, first of all, I found out he's involved with somebody else." ...So does this equate to 'brief fling'?

February 17, 2002 - CDNow's Miss Truth reports journalists stationed in Afghanistan have been putting up with dirt and dust conditions causing hair loss so they've had to start clipping everybody's hair short. The Army barber performing the clipping is reportedly using a photo of a closely shaven Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC as a guide.

February 16, 2002 - Mike Walker of the National Enquirer was on the Howard Stern Show Friday morning and played the Gossip Game with guest Ananda Lewis. The fake item for this week's competition was: "Britney Spears liked the black light effects in her latest music video so much that she had one installed in her bedroom. She then surprised her boyfriend Justin Timberlake when she turned out the lights in her bedroom and had him open his eyes to see some strategically placed hearts covering her private parts but lit up by the black light." February 15, 2002 - Access Hollywood paired up Olympic gold medal winner Kelly Clark with Britney Spears at the Planet Hollywood after-party for 'Crossroads.' Kelly had gushed about putting the medal next to her Britney Spears autographed picture and Britney got an autographed picture of Kelly for herself. Spears said she'd put it in her room too. February 15, 2002 - People magazine focused on the talk surrounding a possible duet between *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake and girlfriend Britney Spears. When asked if the pair would ever consider a duet, Britney said, "If he asked me to do a song with him I would. I would love that." The tabloid says witnesses spotted Justin making out with a curvy brunette at Joseph's Cafe in Los Angeles. The two apparently didn't leave together though.

February 13, 2002 - Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC was on Access Hollywood to gush about how he felt about the big reception his girlfriend Britney Spears got at the premiere of 'Crossroads' in Los Angeles on Monday. Justin said, "It's cool, man, very proud. I'm a proud boyfriend." Meanwhile, Britney loved the huge adoring crowd that had gathered to greet her upon arrival. Britney commented on the huge crowd gathered to cheer her on in a movie premiere setting in contrast with a concert setting causing her to say, "It is so new for me. It is very cool." As for her kissing scene with Anson Mount, boyfriend Justin Timberlake said he wasn't jealous, "He's not me. It's acting." The *NSYNC star also wouldn't reveal what he's planning for Britney for Valentine's Day on Thursday.

February 13, 2002 - Entertainment Tonight spoke with Britney Spears outside of the premiere of 'Crossroads' in Los Angeles where the singer talked about her *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake and the marriage rumors that constantly surround them. Britney said, "I don't understand the 'We're getting engaged and we're getting married on Valentine's Day,' and all that. No, it's not true. Maybe in the future, but not right now. We're too busy to do anything like that." Britney said she's learned to deal with the speculation though adding, "They can talk ... you come to the point where you just accept that it comes along with (the job). February 9, 2002 - Justin Timberlake proved himself to be the most popular member of *NSYNC and apparently every individual in a musical group on the search engine Overture.com for the month of December. The boy band centerpiece received 52,206 searches for the month of December on pay-per search engine Overture.com, over three times more than the group's 2nd most popular member, Lance Bass. February 9, 2002 - Britney Spears told online reporters in a phone press conference she's open to co-starring in a movie with her *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Britney revealed, "I would love to remake Love Story. You need chemistry to do those characters." Read more of her comments here.

February 9, 2002 - Joey Fatone & Lance Bass have been nominated for the Razzies, aka 'The Stinkers Bad Movie Awards' for Worst On Screen Couple in 'On The Line' while Joey also got a nod for 'Worst Supporting Actor' in the flick. You can vote for J.Lo, or vote for someone else so she won't 'win' here (you have to pay $5 though).

February 8, 2002 - Elysa Gardner of USA Today spoke with Tom O'Neil, author of The Grammys, for his thoughts on who will be the big winner at the Grammy Awards on February 27. O'Neil said, "The Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync were both nominated for big awards in previous years but were excluded post-9/11" from the general album, record and song categories. He said they might win one award "to throw a bubblegum band a bone," but he wonders if "the resistance to that stuff is just too strong." Read more.

February 8, 2002 - The Los Angeles premiere of Britney Spears' debut film 'Crossroads' will be broadcast live on the internet on February 12. The webcast will include behind-the-scenes footage and clips of the movie. Britney and her *NSYNC boyfriend Justin Timberlake will headline a list of celebrities that is scheduled to include the Jessica Simpson and 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey. Fans can log onto the film's official website, crossroadsmovie.com from 6 PM PST time to see the guests arriving at the premiere.

February 7, 2002 - Access Hollywood was on hand when *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake filled it at a Knicks Reading Zone charity event across town in a Brooklyn school. A third grader asked, "Did you get in a lot of trouble?" Justin responded, "I have been in trouble before. We all make mistakes. But any time that you can have something that happens in your life that you can learn, what you did wrong from it. Then you know not to make that mistake again."

February 6, 2002 - Rebecca Romijn-Stamos was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday were she shared a story from last week's Super Bowl festivities. Rebecca was staying across from *NSYNC and revealed, "So I start watching. And I'm watching them all kind of run from room to room. And I see Justin taking his shirt off and like checking himself out in the mirror and he's -- [ laughter ] -- and i'm, like, 'Oh, my god, this is unbelievable.' And shirt off, you know there he is changing clothes. And then next night, again, Justin. Every night, I'm watching Justin Timberlake change his clothes. Finally, like day four, I run into Joey Fatone in the bar and I'm telling him this whole story." Read more.

February 6, 2002 - The cover item in this week's Star is word that Britney Spears' admission of being stood up by Prince William was the result of a cleverly orchestrated plot by Prince Charles and Buckingham Palace to stop William for falling for the singer. They also claim that Britney's real reason for wanting to stay a virgin was a quest to marry William, not to save herself for *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake. A source said, "She's definitely happy now with Justin, but she still wonders about what might have been if William had kept their romantic date and their love had been allowed to blossom."

February 6, 2002 - Neva Chonin of the San Francisco Chronicle profiled the success of Creed which Rolling Stone senior editor Jason Fine said has been derived by teenybopper fans of *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys looking for a more 'mature' sound. Fine said, "Like *NSYNC, Creed is very savvy and convincing in what they do. They're a big, old-school rock band going for a giant sound that seemed corny and over-the-top to the last generation. This type of rock music has been seeping up for the last few years organically, and we're seeing the results of that now as the teen pop thing may be starting to fade." Read more.

February 5, 2002 - Michael Musto of the Village Voice is wondering if *NSYNC's Justin Timberlake's recent 'foofy' career choices will have him putting out a memoir questioning his sexual preference. His desire to be in he film version of the AIDS musical Rent, his portrayal of a younger version of gay singer Elton John, the homoerotic photo spread in Arena Hommes Plus, a role as a gay hairdresser reportedly being considered on 'Friends,' a trip to a gay nightclub with girlfriend Britney Spears, and word that he may want to appear in drag on an upcoming Britney Spears video. Musto wonders, "Ain't no lie. Bi bi bi?"

February 5, 2002 - The New York Daily News reports *NSYNC's Joey Fatone wants to take his fascination with Superman to a new level and produce a film about the super hero. Fatone admits, "I used to get dressed in a Superman outfit with a cape and a big S on my chest and just jump off tables and chairs and everything. I got so many stitches by the age of 4 pretending I would fly like Superman that I became a walking ball of thread."
